Welcome to the world of business. Constant regulation, paperwork and never ending obligations and rules that any company no matter how small has to follow, >>> OSHA regulations, taxes, filling regulations, savings plan regulations, medication fillings etc etc etc. Most people are usually on the I don't have to deal with that stuff (employee side) so they have no idea about it but now they are coming for you. All these power yielding regulators are at the doorstep. Beware and I kinda have to chuckle.

Next they'll be saying that they can stop death - all you'll need to do is sign your soul over to them.

I'm glad that more and more developers are starting to oppose SOPA.

@VenkmanPHD Like I said, Gamespot ALREADY did deliver the information in its original editorial on SOPA. All these news bytes are updates. SOPA has been in the works for months now. I think if you want to make an informed decision, you don't wait for information to come to you, you go out and get it. Gamespot already posted the link. In fact, the link I posted is one I got DIRECTLY from the original Gamespot article.

if i was a game developer id be VERY worried about this bill..... Sales WILL NOT CHANGE WITH OR WITHOUT PIRACY. Thats a fact. Piracy is at an all time high in the last 10 years BUT the gaming industry's sales are also the highest they have EVER EVER been by billions of dollars, in the history of game production. SO how do you work that out? Highest piracy rate ever, Highest sales rate EVER. umm.. how do you work that out? SOPA is a joke and the person that thought it was a good idea, needs to be shot.

@VenkmanPHD NDAA buddy, look it up. They've already taken away our rights. Now they want to take away even more. Secondly, the bill is readily available online. It doesn't take a lot of effort to google the darn thing. While you're at it, google NDAA as well. Read it, and understand it. You're living your 9-5 American life completely and utterly ignorant of the laws that have ALREADY been passed that already allow the government to hold US citizens without trial and indefinitely. Are you going to sit by and live your 9-5 American life completely ignorant of the laws that will also stifle free speech as well? I hope I don't come across as insulting, but the reason why you live your life oblivious to all this is probably because you don't take the time to care. Fact is the government already has the right to deprive you of your freedom without due process, and now they're doing it to your free speech as well.

@SrsGamer I know the point you're trying to make, but obviously you haven't looked at torrent sites very hard. Starcraft 2 has been pirated, WoW has even been pirated (and runs on private servers). Diablo 3 WILL be pirated, I can almost guarantee you. Usually the phrase "where there's a will there's a way" applies to pirating, because there are quite a few out there who have insatiable will's to prove their cracking skills. Also, this bill has almost nothing to do with most gaming companies (granted I'm sure there are a few that would support it). It is almost entirely a governmental action so that piracy of ANY kind will stop (ie. music, tv, movies, any software). This isn't strictly a gaming related bill. Also, incase you hadn't noticed, game development companies have been trying to push anti-pirating software to make their games "un-piratable".... This doesn't go over very well and usually alienates most of the fanbase (Ubisoft and PC customers ring any bells?) It's mostly the government and big corporations in ALL industries that are pushing for this bill. It's bs and it has to stop (and I don't even live in the US).

Hell, alcohol's legal, and i've never heard of someone beating their wife due to piracy.

@freedomvendingi what is the point of "artwork" if no one can see(?) and apprecate it. I am assuming you are talking about visual art? all the digital artists I know give their artwork away for free. anything else would be crazy. They charge for actual phycisl peaices. you should really check out somebody like rob sheridan. you can down load all his stuff. make it you wall paper. print it out and make it your toilet paper if you want. but if you want an actual print, or a number photo. you have to pay. its the digital age. nothing is protected anymore. you dont want people to steal then dont put it on the internet. what if I painted a picutre and it was put up in a museam. is no one allowed to take a photo it?

This bill isn't bad its just written so broadly it allows company's to sue over non infringements. Protect the right of content creators yes but dont give company's such a broad ability to sue everyone and everything they want to.

On behalf of the digital community, THANK YOU! We have to oppose these kinds of things. Every right they take away from us is always in the same of stopping illegal activity, but more and more often its just about taking away our rights. We just lost most of our real-life rights to the American Defense Appropriation Act, now they want our digital lives too.

@Kingjames11 Why would I care though, because I have multiple people I can vote for that can represent my individual views at the capitol. Your country has only two possible choices, and your not voting for a specific person for your specific area that you live in, but your voting for one guy (perhaps girl), that will represent you. You don't have much of a choice in the matter. And, unless you are completely blind, you would realize that the democrats generally want to help the average US citizen, while republicans want to give tax breaks to big corporations. Doesn't sound like republicans care very much for the little person, which is probably over 90% of the population. Now, just to prove my point, check the average grades of the red states and compare them to the blue states. Yeah, that's right. You just lost the game.

@freedomvendingi you must be clinically insane to actually think SOPA could stop people from pirating you artwork. SOPA doesn't protect the little people, it protects corporations, and in a way that hurts everyone else.

@freedomvendingi why don't you go live in N.Korea then? No internet for your "artwork" to be stolen from... besides they don't steal artwork from artists like you and me they pirate video games and movies... so they essentially pirate the corporation's money and because people from all over the world can watch -even illegal- those movies and play the video games artists like you and me have a better chance at getting a larger audience... I could be wrong but this is what I believe, and even if it is wrong this bill is still illegal in it self because it is unconstitutional and you don't burn the whole forest to get rid of the weeds... because -metaphorically- there is less oxygen and green afterwards...

@FanboyslayerPS there is one way -theoretically (very big theory)- to end both "wars" legalize both of them (drugs and piracy) EU has already in most countries legalized the lesser drugs like marijuana...
