Developer Free Radical promises "heart-pounding, hot, sweaty action" from monkey-packed first-person shooter; no platforms yet mentioned.
When Free Radical released the first TimeSplitters as a PlayStation 2 launch title in October of 2000, there weren't a wealth of other top-notch console multiplayer first-person shooters, so it didn't have to do much to stand out from the competition. But as the genre grew crowded, TimeSplitters 2 and TimeSplitters: Future Perfect stood out as much for their sense of humor (and focus on monkeys) as for their multiplayer action.
Developer Free Radical Entertainment this week confirmed the development of TimeSplitters 4, and the game appears to be the next (il)logical progression for the series. Visitors to the studio's Web site can find a teaser trailer for the game that plays off the marketing campaign of Microsoft's recently released hit Halo 3.
With a bit of foreboding piano music in the background, messages in a familiar-looking font flash across the screen, proclaiming, "The greatest first-person shooter of all time. Back for another chapter. Fight to the finish." The screen then pans along a suit of the Master Chief's Spartan battle armor before revealing it to be occupied by a surprised-looking monkey and the game's logo.
A short blurb on the site promises TimeSplitters 4 will feature "even more crazy characters, devastating weapons and heart-pounding, hot, sweaty action" before challenging players to "save the world or die laughing."
No platforms, publisher, or release date has been announced for the game. At the moment, Free Radical is also working on the PlayStation 3 exclusive Haze for Ubisoft, as well as an unannounced title for LucasArts.

Not really surprising. Crytek UK said 2 1/2 years ago that they were working on a new IP and Crytek is working on Crysis 3. So after those two projects, one of them could well turn to Timesplitters. By that time, they would be more comfortable with next gen hardware, so the game could end up better for the delay. The game is almost certain to happen at some point. Crytek didn't bail Free Radical out based on Haze.

Time Splitters was my first taste of creating my own content and I've been hooked ever since.

dont give up just because free radical went down the drain dont mean timesplitters will we just gotta hope a good developer buys the rights to it.. i wont give up on you ts4...
I hope TS4 has a make creator like TSFP had, I made a few maps and one was accusal number one most downloaded, I would join random games and people would be playing Blizzard , that was the name of my map.
Even though I am a PS3 fanboy i would hate to see this game be exsclusive because everyone loved timeplsitters 2 and future perfect. I think everyone should be able to enjoy a game as great as this

Hey Gamespot, how about putting up a TS4 page, or at least forums? Its been, what, 6 months now?
David Doak said smoething about TS4 being great on the Wii, regardless of which platform it'l get to, you can get a rough idea of what their visualizing. Also, if you check R107's letters they say stuff about consoles, but meh, they say it might be a genesis exclusive w00t! xD
WOOOHOOO! new time splitters! future perfect was probably one of the best party games out there, i mean whats better then killings zombies with bats and bricks??? cant wait!
If they put it on PSŁ +360 it will be amazing, if it also goes on Wii it will make it sooo much worse- coz most games thast are on the Wii are poor- just look at PES 2008- on PS3+ 360 it was amazing, on Wii, lets just say i'm still laughing.
i wounder, since its made for the wii they might make it wi~fi to the world so you can go against other people who have the game that would be very cool!
coming out for the wii will be great! as well plus they might have a reason why they made TS4 and i also want to know about the story mode thats going to be in it time splitters 3 furture perfect is baout finding out the makign of th etime cystles so what is this about? anyway might have a diffrent reason about the monkeys or a time cystle have survied whne they destoryed it..im guessing that its going to be fun for the wii and the playing cause of this its going to be fun playing it on the wii then, one mroe thing about it that free radical are finding a new way to use the wii; to play Time Spillters 4! i want cant wait for it to come out i heard theres lot of spillers of it that shows everyoine really want it!
I still play TS2 (PS2) & TS:FP (GameCube). Love'em both. I hope TS4 comes to PS2 and/or the Wii. The Wii is the ONLY next-gen console I'm even remotely interested in. Better still, how 'bout a PC version with "mid-ranged" system requirements? I drool at the prospect!

wii............... meh. Dual analog FTW! dont get me wrong i like wii. But it wouldn't hold its ground if TS4 was on other consoles aswell
