Ive got to agree with everyone saying they want it to return to its FPS roots! Last one wasnt bad, but just didnt feel quite right. But for goodness sakes please, give a memorable storyline and characters, with some of the most exciting actions-packed combat that lasts longer than 5 hours. Ive had enough of half baked games!
Volition takes the fight for Mars underground to save the planet; game to hit 360, PS3, and PC in March 2011.
It's only been a year since THQ launched Red Faction: Guerrilla to critical acclaim, but the publisher is already prepping its next trip back to the red planet. The publisher today announced Red Faction: Armageddon will arrive on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC in March 2011.
Where Guerrilla focused on Alec Mason's rebellion against the oppressive Earth Defense Force, Armageddon shifts the focus and ups the stakes. The game picks up roughly 50 years later and focuses on Darius Mason, Alec's grandson. When the younger Mason accidentally unleashes a planet-threatening evil on Mars, it's up to him and his grandfather's old rebel group, the Red Faction, to clean up the mess.
As in previous Red Faction games, cleaning up a big mess will require making an even bigger mess, thanks to a focus on physics-based destruction. Armageddon will provide players some new surroundings to explosively customize, from ice caves to lava flows.
Neither the Armageddon name nor the release date should come as a big surprise to fans of the series. In February, THQ had said it would have a follow-up to Guerrilla on shelves by the second quarter of 2011, and in April, it registered a variety of Red Faction: Armageddon domain names.
@Fayt1986 That'd be nice. Red Faction 1 was on par with Half Life 1. Maybe a proper sequel to the events (on Mars) right after the first game would be another attractive possibility.
Great games but the last one was lacking in plot i think, it was more of a LETS BLOW UP EVERYTHING type thing, which is fun, but gets boring
these games were never that good. i don't think anyone was wondering when the next one might come out.
these games are fun but i would rather have another fps like red faction1 or even a good remake of it.
yeah... cack.. ran out of ammo...... HAMMER TIME! hitting guards with the hammer felt so good too! Ha!
to be fair... i've played all of the red faction games.... and guerilla... i could NOT put down. it was repetitve, the graphics were very good, but not the best.... but there was something about it. it was essentially a GTA rip-off but i loved this so much more, although i felt it was a bit short and i was left salivating for more. i literally played guerilla for 8 hrs a day... i hope this follows the same formula, the old ones were great FPS games, but this was something else. my eyes are fixed on this.
I had fun playing RF guerrilla even with some of its annoyances. was still a good game, just wish you could have been more creative with ambushes and building destruction. I just hope they'll improve upon the game and not just clone it.
the main character from this game looks a lot like nathan hale from the resistance games and a little like cole from infamous =P
LOL lets create a completely new game franchise but call it a sequel. That will sell more, right Banjo and Kazooi??
Love Red Faction now. Didn't play the first 2 but since I stopped playing WoW 2 years ago i have not been able to get in to an open world game until Red Faction. I know they weren't always open world games but I just fell in love with everything about Red Faction. Except for a few things in MP I had a blast with that too. MP is one of my favorite yet in guerilla.
hope they go back to the old formula of no.1 bexause i preffered that. also it looks like the series is changing its story. you are now gunna be fightinhg aliens. yes! a nice change from throwing off the now mundane shackles of opression....
Guerilla is underrated but a very very good game. I really loved Guerilla: Red Faction, i hope they will succeed with this one to.
As much as I loved Guerrilla, I don't think it got enough attention that it truly deserved. Online play was just as fun as COD/BF:BC. I'm surprised they are making another so soon. Maybe THQ has a good gimmick up their sleeve. I'm just hoping it's as good or better than the last one.
I am not crazy about being underground. Why set it on mars, then never let us experience the Martian landscape. Underground could be anywhere. I'll still get it, but am a bit worried about the choice (as I was for RF2).
even though im playing guerilla right now,but i almost gonna finished the game,Red Faction is a kick ass game series that you never get bored,i cant wait for armaggedon
I can't help but notice there is no mention of any open world sandbox gameplay with regard to this game. Possibly they plan to ditch this approach for a more linear experience.
Was going to buy the other one but because of the online mode and it's trophies I couldnt be bothered, I just wish they would not put online trophies to a game like this and create some really challenging ones and what not for s.p mode.
Red Faction was awesome Red Faction 2 was pretty good but didn't live up to Red Faction Red Faction Guerrilla was not a Red Faction game to me, not to say it wasn't good, it was, but it just didn't feel like my much loved Red Faction games on the PS2.
Kool, least this time it won't be all about Mars, the enviorment looked so bland so glad its gonna change again with things like ice caves
i guess E3 2011 will be during January-May wid:- dead space 2,legendary game deux ex HR, rage, Red Faction 4,Gears of war 3,nd much more ;wot else does nybody need.
I remember the very first Red Faction game and loving it, now it's crap and aint even next gen. To me this series is nothing now RF:Armageddon wont change my mind.
50 years after the first game his grandson releases an evil that potential DOOMS mars haha, some might say mars will become HELL like, ah...ha..ha, im out of doom3 jokes.
I liked RF guerilla they took a completely different approach from the ps2 games and it worked. However the missions did get old after a while like infamous did
I agree with Superdude. I know the market is crowded with FPS, but I think it served the franchise better. Red Faction on the was ok, but I did't stay interested in it that long.
I like the look but.. am I the only one who thought "Gears of Dead Space" while watching this trailer?
Saints Row 1 and 2 were 100000 times better than GTA4. They were actually fun to play. I cant wait for the 3rd one. Red Faction Guerrillas was a friking blast to play too. A nice breath of fresh air in the often stale gaming market. There were points when it was a little bland so lets hope they fix all that in the new one. I am pre-ordering both for sure.
@sirmourinho,bloodwall01 Saints Row 3 is right now supposed to be coming in march of 2012 and they are making very big changes supposedly.
