THQ to publish Supreme Commander
Real-time strategy game from Chris Taylor and Gas Powered Games announced; specific details still under wraps.
THQ today announced that it has acquired the worldwide publishing rights to Supreme Commander, a real-time strategy PC game from Gas Powered Games. THQ has not yet released details on the game, nor has it disclosed a release date.
Washington-based Gas Powered Games was founded in 1998 by game veteran Chris Taylor. Taylor was the man behind the critically acclaimed PC game Total Annihilation. Gas Powered Games' first release was 2002's Dungeon Siege, which is slated to be made into a feature-length film. Dungeon Siege II is currently in development and will be released in August.
"Our goal with this franchise is to take the RTS experience into the future," said Chris Taylor. "Supreme Commander will deliver an exciting, accessible gaming experience on a huge scope and scale that will allow players to wield unprecedented control over the entire theater of war."
