Third Borderlands DLC loaded with new vehicles, mechs
The Secret Armory of General Knoxx will be the "largest" add-on to date, says Gearbox; will raise level cap, focus on introduction of new weaponry.
One week ago, Gearbox Software revealed a third downloadable add-on was in the works for the studio's double-platinum action RPG Borderlands. Without revealing a name, a member of the development staff did say the expansion would raise the game's current level 50 cap and also be the "biggest" downloadable content yet.
Today, Gearbox named the expansion, which will be called The Secret Armory of General Knoxx. As the name implies, the expansion will focus on providing players with new weapons, presumably from the weapons locker of the aforementioned military officer. Gearbox said the add-on's quests will be geared at players level 34 to 50 but did not give a release date or price for the new content.
Two shots accompanying the announcement indicated that General Knoxx is likely a commander of the Crimson Lance, the elite corporate army featured in the latter levels of the original game. One shot shows that the already heavily armed Lance troopers will be backed up by full-blown mechs with thick armor and nasty ranged and melee weapons. Another screen shows players driving a new type of vehicle: a six-wheeled off-road truck battling what appear to be giant spiders in the desert.

It says "raise the game's current level 50 cap". How's that confusing? They didn't say to what level, but the surely didn't say TO 50.
I'm wondering if all that extra XP I've gathered after hitting fifty will go directly towards leveling once the cap is raised? It would be funny to load up the expansion and already be at the new max level
So far Borderlands continues to be a game that I cannot get tired of, and that's rare for me. I'm happy to see that Gearbox is bringing out DLCs at a steady pace. Loved Zombie Island, Underdome by myself was kinda lame, but playing with friends was a blast (I also understood up front that it was made solely for fun combat and nothing else). This one looks very promising, and after two DLCs of no new content other than a few new enemies, it'll be a breath of fresh air to see some new gear. BTW, I'm with the others on here, the level cap on Borderlands is already 50, can someone say typo?
Just hope "biggest" means lots of new stuff, not as in "it's big if you go through it with every character" which is what Gearbox was talking about for the previous DLC's. And I sure hope they keep the memory size under control. 1 and 2 gigs got me hours of gameplay in Oblivion and Fallout 3. 1gig for Borderlands got me...Zombie Island. Like 3 hours of content.
just a quick question, and please type in @xEpiphoneSG and enter twice...um does double platinum mean that it sold 2 million, and will the game come out with a platinum edition??
I hope this dlc makes borderlands less boring to play and more meaning to play like you are achieving something (higher level cap, achieving experience that adds to level bar)
Definitely will pick this up, as I am happy with anything that adds more weapons, more story, more levels, and more fun to Borderlands.
Love Borderlands, love The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, love Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot, and I just know I'll love The Secret Armory of General Knoxx! :D XD
the underdome made me sell this game i was very dissapointed with it didn't even bother hitting 50 and i was a 49 for everyone who still has borderlands hope that this is as good as the zombie island cuz that add-on was good
@johnnystarr LOL. They practically anounced that DLC will be coming soon when the game was just put on the shelves :P Mad Moxxie was a letdown, but this looks awesome!
This game will be perfect if they add Ice elemental weapons! And further upgrades to Melee attacks, like lilith shooting a short-range phase beam or something.
Borderlands is a good game, but the people who modded it ruined it. They need to patch that out. I had no interest in playing it anymore once some kid came in and hacked my stats up really high without my asking. How challenging or fun is it if all you have to do to kill everything is just use an item over and over until your shields are so stupid high nothing can hurt you? Cheating is always pointless and ruins the fun of the game...
Borderlands: hell yeah, platinum. Zombie Island: got it and beat it 100% Underdome: meh.. not really interested in the arenas. Secret Armory of General Knoxx: Hell yeah!! sweet. The next few monthes got some bad ass dlc debuting. AC2, GTA 4, Uncharted 2 and Borderlands anyone? p.s. i got the new ac2 dlc and its worth it!
hope they patch where modded guns are deleted or unuseable. mod guns take the fun out of the game...i have some and dont use them and the people who do it slows down the game dramatically

ok then time 2 gun run (again) with the new dlc (£8.00) with my pals we are level 50 (so 2 hours of new dlc)........... buttttttt waitttttt new vehicles that probly drive like soap (like the old ones) ( ponit made )
@TheGreyArea - I'm there dude. DL'd Zombie Ned last night too and it's rather awesome. You're not wrong about the Lance guys, especially the engineers who are body armoured to hell(!) I just get out my trusty vicious sniper and give them 571 units of damage to let them know what exactly is what ha ha

We better be able to ride around in mechs..looks like it is going to be limited to the AI using them. give me the potential to wreak havoc with a Mech, and I'll be forever gracious! BF2142 gave me that possibility, and DICE is forever my friend because of that. ;)
these guys have got it all RIGHT!! And this coming from a game that really had been thought to havre had no future by the game pundants...ya gotta love that...Keep it up Gearbox!!

Wow, this is a pretty revolutionary DLC in that they are introducing something (mechs) that weren't in the main game at all. Gearbox seems to know what they are doing when it comes to DLC. Hopefully, Bioware takes notice with Mass Effect 2 and gives me some mechs :D
Lovin' Borderlands still, but all these add-ons make me feel like I should wait for GotY versions before I buy games.
i think tripSe7en is right. I think its tarded that you completely stop when your roadster runs into the smallest thing. But these mechs look sick
@jadefury27: No I don't say things just to get attention, I personally hate the vehicle controls. When ever you touch the smallest object on the field, it completely stops your vehicle. It is cumbersome to drive in that game compared to other games. I expected to get thumbed down since I am in a forum filled with Borderlands enthusiasts, but I wanted to voice my opinion on what I thought. I am sure I am not the only oe who thinks the driving in this game is horrible.
