Hopefully they have enough budget & time to make a solid single player and fun multiplayer component. It would be cool to find a group of people to be competitive and use headset in 4 vs 4 matches or something.
Third Army of Two in the works?
Montreal branch of EA's Visceral Games hiring lead environment artist, senior producer for "Army of Two franchise."
Electronic Arts' Army of Two series was never a huge hit with critics, with the original faring slightly worse than the decently reviewed sequel, Army of Two: The 40th Day. However, the games have proven to be financially successful for the publisher--so much so that it appears a third game in the series is being planned.
Evidence of a third Army of Two game surfaced courtesy of a pair of job listings for the Montreal branch of Visceral Games. The internal EA studio behind Dante's Inferno and Dead Space 2 has apparently expanded from its original Redwood Shores, California, location to include shops in the French Canadian metropolis, as well as Los Angeles, Shanghai, and Melbourne, Australia.
The two listings are both asking for new talent to work on the "Army of Two franchise," which they refer to as a "multimillion selling hit." The first asks for a senior producer with "proven success shipping 1-2 AAA titles" and at least four years of experience with first- or third-person shooter games. The second is for a lead environment artist with at least five years experience.
As of press time, EA reps would only say the following: "Army of Two continues to be a very important franchise. At this time, we have nothing to announce."
Released in 2008, the first Army of Two told the tale of two mercenaries involved in a series of conflicts from 1993 to 2009. The third-person shooter introduced the series' cover-centric gameplay, which relies heavily on two players working closely together to overcome obstacles and enemies in cooperative mode. Army of Two: The 40th Day was released in early 2010 and is set during a fictional military attack on Shanghai.
