There are two ways to deal with politicians who take this kind of stand. One is to vote them out of office, the other is to change their minds. I took a look at Senator Yee's record, fully expecting some kind of right-wind, attention-grabbing demagogue. What I found was a pretty normal Democratic profile. Still, I can't support anyone who has so little respect for the First Amendment. By the way, Yee sponsored legislation defending the First Amendment rights of student newspapers in public high schools. It makes this blind spot all the more confusing.
Yee represents San Francisco and parts of San Mateo county - a pretty liberal area. He may be willing to listen to a well-reasoned argument in favor of focusing more on parents and less on the developers of video games. His web-site is http://sd08.senate.ca.gov/
One more thing - Yee is running for California Secretary of State.in 2014. He may be up against term limits, or maybe he just wants to move up. He does believe in voting online, (which I agree with) but he would also be in a much better position to push for more restrictions on video games. Not that I'd worry too much about that; the Supreme Court decision striking down his last bill aimed at video gaming was a 7-2 blowout. Anyone want to guess who the 2 were?
