I own all three consoles and a pc and i can swear to you that ps3 is better in every way accept that all my friends play xbox and it has a more hardcore multiplayer experience. that is why i play 360. ill tell you what killzone 3, god of war 3, and uncharted series are better both gameplay and visuals than almost every game ive played for xbox.
CD Projekt Red's action role-playing game makes a strong debut in first week; port to Microsoft's system on the way by end of 2011.
It's been a magical week for CD Projeckt Red, as the studio today announced that its action role-playing game The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings made a strong debut at retail and that it has bigger plans for the game.
Speaking at the CDP Summer Days presentation (available to re-watch via Ustream), CD Projekt Red said The Witcher 2 sold through 400,000 units in its debut week. While it was a strong premiere, the game will have to continue to perform if it wants to catch up to the 1.5 million units its 2007 predecessor tallied.
Also noted in the company's sunny announcement today was word that The Witcher 2 is indeed--following rumors--heading to the Xbox 360. According to its developer, protagonist Geralt's console adventure will come at "no quality compromise" when it is released at the end of 2011. No mention was made of a Witcher 2 release on the PlayStation 3.
"We believe [The Witcher 2] will be one of the most complex and mature RPGs that ever went to the console market," said a CD Projekt Red staffer.
Further, the developer said gamers can "expect the same experiences" with the console version, as compared to the PC iteration. Speaking about the debates that often erupt when comparing PCs to consoles, the developers said, "It's not about the size of the textures, but how you use them."
The Witcher 2 is a direct sequel to the events of the original and picks back up with professional monster slayer Geralt following a failed assassination of Temerian royalty. Geralt then sets out on a quest to track down the king's attempted killers, while also continuing to pursue those responsible for murdering other witchers.

seriously you people dont understand video games at all. the reason pc games go to xbox is because of this. MICROSOFT OWNS XBOX AND THERE IS LIKE NO MAC GAMES AND MICROSOFT HATES PS3. and mass effect 2 went to ps3 and did fine.
@RitsukoEX @XanderZane it will sell MORE on the Xbox360! **************************************************** I doubt it will, but we'll see. Miost PC games port to the 360 or PS3 don't sell all that well. I'll still be getting it for the 360 because my current PC won't run it smoothly.
GabrielOnuris Posted Jul 1, 2011 11:22 pm GMT -12 If PS3 is better than X360, answer this question: why when top notch pc games get ported, they go only to X360? Like Witcher 2 and Metro 2033? Hmm? ************************************************************** Because the PC and the XBox 360 have very similar O/S. The games are a breeze to port from the PC to the 360 and visa-versa. It's a harder trying to port a game from the 360/PC to the PS3, which is why most develoeprs don't even try. It takes a lot longer and cost more money to do. No the PS3 isn't more powerful then the 360. It has a more powerful CPU, while the 360 has a more powerful GPU. The only major difference is the PS3 has Blu-Ray.
@GabrielOnuris Because Xbox is much more similar to PC than PS3 is,after all,Xbox is a simplified and weak gaming PC,while PS3 has a much different hardware, not that similar to PC,so porting from PC to Xbox is much easier. But PS3 is still a little bit stronger in hardware than Xbox.

As of 1st July 2011, we're talking over a million point 5 now! Will easily do 2 million plus on PC over the next month. Add the 360 version as this will be in the 5 million range, like Bioshock, Mass Effect and Oblivion, and yet, in a couple years time, will it be seen as up there with the classics? Because it's from a small European developer rather than a giant U.S., I think not.
I bought it for 36 dollars on amazon. Best money i ever spent this year. Amazing game. Stop being scrubnobs buying cod map packs that are trash and get this game instead.
@topsemag55 said: @XanderZane the 400K was for the first 7 days, dude. Keep in mind that these articles don't have digital sales numbers. GOG sells it, and so does GamersGate, and probably Steam. You can safely say the numbers are a lot higher. *********************************************************** That's nice, but it didn't sell over 800K in 7 days like L.A. Noire did on the XBox 360. Even with DD sales. I actually think those numbers were under tracked on the 360. Anyway 400K is good numbers for a PC game considering most games barely sell over 200K in 7 days. The Witcher 2 probably won't sell at many copies on the 360 since it's coming out 6 months later, but it should sell over 1 million in LTD sales.
@blutiger_engel said: @xanderzane i never said the console version would be polished and not have bugs. I said it won't have all the bugs the PC version had when it was initially released. I'm sure the console version will have it's own bugs, but it should play just as good as the PC version sans the better graphics on the PC. It seems PC gamers care more about that graphics then anything else in a game because that's all they talk about when making comparisons. I care more about how the game plays and if it's fun or not. Graphics are irrelevant is the game plays like crap and is not fun. Chances are good the extra content will come to the PC before the consoles, which I'm fine with. My PC won't even run Witcher 2 smoothly. lol!!
over the next 3 years it probably will sell over a million. As th price comes down on STEAM , more people will buy it....trust me :). Its an awesome game. The people that had problems with the fighting mechanic are just lame.
I am totally lost. I was pretty sure I've read a couple of weeks ago that this game was to be ported on both consoles in few months. Unless I messed u with the other "The Witcher" that it seems it has been canceled. Too bad. Oh well. I pre-ordered Dark Souls anyway! ;)
@Lucasrolender Buy at GoG.com as it doesn't use automatic IP tracking to determine your country. You will need to move to the USA for a moment and indicate it on your account settings.
I want to get it but i live in australia and i heard its edited, i hope its not as badly edited as l4d2
Just finished the second play-through. It is an excellent game, two game in one, The second time I did different choices and I played a completely different game, different places different story, different atmosphere. It should be definitely game of the year. In my high spec laptop i didn't see a loading screen for more than 2 seconds ! streaaaaming ... the developers know they did a really interesting adult game focusing on quality and respect for the users. That's something that pays back ... in billions ! By the way the box you receive if you get a physical copy reminds how games were released many years ago, books, DVDs of extras, a weird coin, maps etc ! Very good job, this is the first AA PC game I buy after 3 years and now I am sure that consoles need hardware upgrade. Now.
i was desperately hoping this would happen. I can barely run the witcher enhanced edition on my severely outdated PC but i still loved that game and im psyched i can now play the sequel!
does the 400k include people who bought it online through services like steam? or are those not considered units? @zidan4000 The game runs very smoothly as long as you meet the reqs. It also scales very well. They made a pretty bad ass engine. I'm running it on med-high settings on my 4 yr old pc. (geforce 8800, core duo 2.66ghz, 4gb ram). It runs smooth 99% of the time.
400 thousand is pretty good for PC, considering how many people pirate the game. And it's good they didn't sacrifice the PC version to make it multiplatform.
can this game even run on decent pc's smoothly? let alone a 6 year old outdated xbox360 , heck , in the world of pc hardware , if it is older than a year or two then you are outdated.
Not fully understanding why people are posting that this is a performance hog or a "beast". This game runs perfectly fine on a mediocre PC on medium/high settings. And leave off ubersampling.
@cjf187x LA noire a FMV game from back in the mega (sega) CD days done in polygons, with very little actual gameplay other than press 1, 2 or 3 whlie talking to NCP's. Or a 17gig uncompressed RPG game on my hard disk not comparable. "Console owners already pay at least $10 more per game than a PC owner" Well for a start a console gamer anyware OTHER than in "the land of the free" will pay MORE than just 10 dollars. When converted to dollars PC games cost THE SAME across the globe (average before tax 50 USD). Not so for consoles the rest of the world pay's between 10-15 (70-75) USD MORE just for there console version before tax. The other markets keep your console games cheep. Also how may other console games have given free DLC when the PC version has, other tha the ONE example you have gave?
How much did the first one sell in it's debut week? I don't know so I'm a bit worried Witcher 2 hasn't succeeded well but I hear it's great so I know I'll be buying it down the line to support them.
This news means that I won't be getting The Witcher 2 for PC. Although I have The Witcher and the Enhanced version for PC. I was planning on getting a new PC halfway through 2012 to play Skyrim with mods and buy some PC games I missed out on. Happy to see I can hold out on that purchase and use my 2006 console purchase a little longer.
I wish sales on the pc would go above 1 million so game developers will once again make games for the pc as the lead platform then downgrade it to the consoles as necessary so we don't get anymore horrible console ports which have their limits on a 5 year old hardware.
@gobbo00 While there is some validity to your argument, I have to point out that LA Noire came in 3 discs on the 360. Additionally, the DLC that is free for PC gamers could potentially be free for 360 owners. I'd like to point out the Portal 2 Team and the free DLC that is coming to consoles and PC. In theory DLC could be free, especially if a game sells well, then the cost of having DLC, leftovers that didn't make it or newly created content, is ultimately moot. But developers are running a business. In reality it doesn't matter if the DLC is free on consoles. Console owners already pay at least $10 more per game than a PC owner, on top of the internet and the subscription (if you have a 360), and console owners are use to buying expansion packs and DLC already.
I kinda want to check out the game but I don't have a PC powerful enough to run it on PC. I'd rather it come to PS3 because I rarely if ever play the 360 anymore.....in fact I don't even have my 360 hooked up lol
I wonder how many more disc's the 360 version will have, how much a hit will the framerate & visuals will have. And how much more will it cost a copy, and will it have free DLC? Oh FYI the PC version has two disc's to install that don't have to stream the data of a slow disc. To the console & uncompress the game data at the same time 3 disc at least.
I game on a budget these days, so a decent gaming PC is out of the question for me, so I'm really glad it's coming out for the 360 as well. I think it'll give Skyrim a good run for it's money. Bioware might also want to buck up their ideas with Dragon Age, now they've got some SERIOUS competition. I love playing big single player games and am getting sick of all the half-hearted games with tacked on multiplayer to appeal to the COD drones. As a console gamer a decent 50 hour+ RPG is a rare thing. Hopefully it sells loads on the 360 as well. It might make a few developers realise that not everyone wants to play generic FPS all the time. Can't wait to play this.
@Shinteikun If this is the case then for Mass Effect, Fable, Assassins Creed and... oh I lost count, how many socks will you smell ? seriously your fanboyism and urge to start flaming discussion stinks more than socks. Grats to all Xbox 360 players who want to experience one of the best PC RPG. And good starting sell for CDKPR.
For guys saying they're computer can't run this on higher than 1024x768. Try turning off ubersampling. I can't run this game maxed with ubersampling on without drastically decreasing my resolution. But with ubersampling off, I can max everything out with AA and AF enabled. And despite what the dev's say about ubersampling, there is a difference, but the difference is so small (and I do mean small) that it doesn't warrant dropping all you settings just to run it with ubersampling on. This game is absolutely gorgeous even with ubersampling off. All ubersampling is, is the dev's AA method of rendering the graphics multiple times. Uber does give a slightly better quality (only slightly), but it's so inefficient with such poor performance, that it's just not worth using unless you have an insane computer spec. This game will run well on most PC's with reasonable specs quite easily without having to run at minimum settings as long as you disable ubersampling. Here's my spec for reference. Core2Quad QX9650 @ 3.00Ghz 6Gig DDR2 PC6400+ RAM XFX HD5970 Black Edition Win7 Ultimate 64bit Hope this helps. PS Congrats XBOX360 gamers on the news that your getting this awesome game.
