[UPDATE] Nintendo bringing Japanese Wii role-playing game to North America later this year through a publishing partnership with Xseed Games.
The Last Story will be told in North America this summer, Nintendo confirmed this morning.
As part of its Nintendo Direct video presentation, Nintendo of America executive Reggie Fils-Aime revealed that Xseed Games will publish the Wii role-playing game in North America.
In June, Nintendo said that it had "no plans" to bring the game to North America. However, the game's westward expansion began in November, when Nintendo announced that The Last Story would arrive in Europe on February 24.
[UPDATE] Xseed has confirmed that The Last Story will be out exclusively on the Wii this summer.
The latest game from Mistwalker and longtime Final Fantasy developer Hironobu Sakaguchi, The Last Story puts players in the shoes of Zael and a band of fellow mercenaries on a search for treasure. Set on Lazulis Island, the story follows Zael as he tries to find an escape from his mercenary past to become a true knight. Unique among RPGs, The Last Story features multiplayer modes in the form of co-op, deathmatch, and team deathmatch for up to six players.
2 down 1 more to go. the fight isnt over yet. even though we got the last story and xenoblade if pandora's tower dont get localized i consider our operation rainfall campaign a failure. all fans unite!
YAY!! ^_^ I was going to mod my Wii and get the European version. I'm glad I waited. Now they just need to localize Pandora's Tower.
"Xseed has confirmed that The Last Story will be out exclusively on the Wii this summer. " - Cuz there some some kind of doubt about it being a Wii only title? :P I'm glad as hell, as except for Zelda... there hasn't been much to interest me on my Wii for a while... Xenoblade and TLS were 2 that really peaked my interest... yet we were teased and told we couldn't have it, until now :P
@xcollector Why are you still complaining, the game is coming out, that's all that should matter. Anyway, looking forward to playing this one, I've been wanting to play it since I saw the first trailer.
Wow what a coincidence! i just liked operation rainfall on facebook a few days ago. This is awesome, I was really hoping this and xenoblade were gonna be released in NA.
I now hear the exuberant squeals of all of the members of Operation Rainfall. Including myself of course.
Though I'm from the EU... ...Operation Rainfall was a full success! Woohoo! Glad for you people you'll get The Last Story too :)
So excited for this one! Hope Xseed makes Last Story available through all retail channels and not only through exclusive partners.
Good to hear its coming. Why is NOA so stingy? GameStop had to help with Xenoblade and now Xseed is helping with Last Story. This attitude will not be good for the WiiU. NOA needs to change their attitude.
Finally! Now I am happy that Nintendo isn't leaving the NA market out to dry, we are getting both games (Xenoblade and this) on the Wii.
I see what they did there. They release this a while later so you have time to beat Xenoblade, then you can pick this up once you're done with that. BRILLIANT!!
Xenoblade plays like that terrible Final Fantasy on the PS2 where you only really control the main character ,I don't know like the battle system wish it was classic turn based
How does a Lufia for the Wii sound with updated graphics and turn based like Lufia 2 for the Super Nintendo?
I grew up on Super Nintendo RPG games the system with the most and best RPG games out there.People need to buy this game so we can see more, let's make RPGS sell ,forget all these shooters we get that can be beat in a day :)
Let's not forget about Fatal Frame too. I hope Xseed picks that up as well, since Nintendo will probably never publish it.
You know with the nintendo profit lost, stock drops, and the wii u. I think its a good idea by the way but telling us about it with no good games to show it of was dumb. I was starting to loss my mario faith but you found a way to restore my faith keep it up nintendo and you might turn this lossing streck around.
@AndCarlsen thats a good guess, xeno and last story were both said to not not come state side, xeno is in april, last story most likely would be july or early august, Pandora could fall october or even during holiday season. People were worried that with nintendo focused on E3 and the wii u, that they wouldn't bother with the wii but now with the late push Pandora's tower could be a holiday release or as early as early october.
I've been waiting for another rpg for awhile since Arc Rise Fantasia, and another thing I'm waiting for with Last Story is the fact that its the last game that Sakaguchi worked on. Didn't he retire last year?
Thank you, Nintendo!!! Thank you. now i have two rpgs to look forward too. i already have Xenoblade reserved and paid for and now i can reserve this game as well. Now just bring us gamers pandora's tower and you will have perfected the trifecta of good wii titles to look forward to on the wii.
