As long as the infected are present in the multi then i'm all for it. If its just human on human (which somehow i doubt) then it would suck. Hopefully theres some kind of co-op missions focusing on different characters.

Naughty Dog's first non-Uncharted game since 2005 will have multiplayer, with details coming later; preorder bonuses announced.
The Last of Us will feature a multiplayer mode, Naughty Dog community strategist Arne Meyer has confirmed in a post on the PlayStation Blog. He said the company is "not quite ready" to talk about what this will entail, but further details will be shared ahead of the PlayStation 3 game's May 7, 2013 release date.
Though Naughty Dog is not talking specifics about the multiplayer mode for The Last Of Us, that's not keeping the studio from revealing multiplayer-specific preorder bonuses.
Those who reserve The Last of Us at GameStop will receive the Survival Pack. This includes bonus experience points, a melee attack booster, extra in-game cash, customizable items, and two bonus skins that can be unlocked after the single-player game is completed.
The other preorder bonus, available at "participating retailers," is the Sights and Sounds Pack. This includes the official soundtrack for The Last of Us, a PS3 dynamic theme, and two avatars: Winter Joel and Winter Ellie.

Not every game needs multiplayer. But, when I think about it, it could turn out pretty good if the MP keeps the same feel as the Singleplayer. A game of stealth and out smarting your friends in order to kill them might be a refreshing pace from the online military shooters
I enjoyed uncharted's multiplayer. I hope they keep a similar feel to this one, but if they do something totally different I'm sure that'll be great too. But god I can't wait to play that campaign.

bit of a shame actually, good possibility they will do this wrong. to do this right it should be coop, with NPCs and players are as Joel, Ellie and the bandits. perhaps other protagonists.
instead we'll probably have 10 ellies and 15 Joels on the map with a scattering of generic players as bandits

then they will release uncharted skins to be put in this universe too

There's no cause to get angry if a game has multiplayer. There is, however, reason to rejoice if a game doesn't have multiplayer.

@Dr_Corndog Funny, cause i think the gameplay is really enjoyable. Keep in mind that The Last Of Us isn't meant to feel similair to a movie like Uncharted.
@Dr_Corndog games have been known to make as much money, if not more money than any of the top blockbusters. I think they are doing quite well.

@queuing_for_PS4 @Dr_Corndog i own a ps3 and never owned an xbox but i have to say that th uncharted series is closer to interactive movies than to games. the gameplay is allways very average with nothing special. the rest is top quality however, but it doesn't matter if the gameplay isn't good.

I think the cinematic effects added to Uncharted, made the gameplay really enjoyable. Even the detail they have put to the animations were really impressive at times imo.
8 Like Seriously why do devs think they have to add multiplayer to everything? Uncharted's multiplayer was tacked on BS. I would rather devs devote more effort to single player. In my 30 years of playing video games the internet is the worst thing to ever happen to gaming. Shorter games tacked on multiplayer DLC it's all garbage.

1 Like I'm not a fan of multiplayer in the these types of games to be completely honest, tried briefly with Uncharted 2 but didn't even give it a go for the 3rd. Just didn't seem appealing.. Each to there own though and all that.
What I will say however is the addition of 3 factions - 'Heroes', 'Villains' and 'Infected' could actually mix it all up a bit. If they stray away from the standard TDM and CTF and actually come up with something unique it could work?
I'm only interested in the single player personally, but I won't write it off just yet. Uncharted certainly know what they're doing anyway so I won't be too quick to judge.

Sad you skipped out on 3's because it's the definitive version and has many updates including lots of free dlc. I do agree in saying that this game may not need it because Uncharted 2 wasn't great because of it's multiplayer rather it's single player. I also don't think it's multiplayer was tacked on because they supported that game like crazy. That had tons of content and allot of it move to 3.If any team knows what they are doing then it's Naughty Dog. Far Cry 3 or Assassin's Creed doesn't suffer from having multiplier. I think that adding multiplayer to a single player AAA game is so they can add on the online pass and increase replay value a bit so it won't be resold as quick by the used game market.
1 Like Multiplayer? Completely unessential. C'mon Naughty Dog, that's not the best thing and you know it. However since you are Naughty Dog, I know they can manage to pull it off somehow, it just doesn't seem right to implement MP in such a game, I mean BioShock Infinity won't have MP and will most probably still be a gorgeous game, just saying.
@Finalninja447 It's unessential, true, but it's smart from a business standpoint. If people beat it and trade it back in fast then people just buy the used copies in which they get no money for. If even some people enjoy the multiplayer or if they make it good enough for people to hold on for a while the more people will buy it at retail price.
Also what comes with lots of multiplier games now a-days? That's right! Online Passes! This means even if people buy the game used if they want to play the multiplayer then they still have to give the company money for the online pass. Meaning that they can potentially rake money in from used buyers. (This is not subjected to just Naughty Dog. This is the reason why tons of games use Online Passes and add multiplayer to a otherwise single player experience.)
@Finalninja447 Adding MP could have been a direction from the execs.. ND is owned by Sony after all.. Trust them to make the best of this. Judging from their prev titles, SP was excellent. MP was pretty decent too although kinda unrelated to anything

2 Like really multiplayer? there are just some games that just dont feel right having multiplayer just for he sake of a prolonged shelf life such as Assassin's creed, dead space, and even this game. co-op online is fine but running around shooting each other up is becoming kind of the run of the mill.

Uncharted 3 was a disaster of a game on many levels, partly because it was obvious they spent too much time on the multiplayer and not enough on the single player. It's time developers got back to making Single Player games and leaving multiplayer alone. How may versions of CTF, Deathmatch, and Horde modes do we really freakin need? It's tired. REAL tired. This news disappoints me greatly.

The games have got better as the series moves on, I swear it's a matter of "I'm going to hate it because I want to look different and cool".
The lost city in the desert and hallucinations, the bar fight opening scene, falling out the back of a plane and fighting on crates?! It was like Indiana Jones on Steroids.
The game had it ALL.
Someone please explain to me where the SP failed in the third installment because I seriously thought it's been the best so far :|
@warhawk-geeby @DarthLod I'm a huge Uncharted fan! But I personally thought #2 had the best story mode. I thought it was more cohesive than #3 (that whole ship sequence in #3 was so tacked onto the story and completely unnecessary imo, despite being cool as shit) and I'm also a bit butthurt that Elena was such a minor character in the story. :)
Why is everybody complaining the multiplayer? Because they will ignore single player? In my opinion, I believe Naughty Dog, which game of Naughty Dog ever dissapoints you, which game of Sony Exclusive ever dissapoints you... adding multiplayer is to gives us more replay value. Like God of War 3, after finish playing single player, there is nothing to do anymore, and i'm glad that the upcoming god of war will feature multiplayer, higher replay value.
