Naughty Dog's new PlayStation 3 action survival game given release window of later this year or possible early next.
Gamers might not know much about Naughty Dog's latest project, The Last of Us, but those eager to play the action survival game could have the title in their hands by the end of this year
As revealed by the GameStop-owned Game Informer magazine, The Last of Us will arrive for the PlayStation 3 in late 2012 or early 2013. When the game was announced in December, it was not given any kind of release window.
The Last of Us is Naughty Dog's first game outside of the Uncharted universe since 2005. It is a postapocalyptic survival game set in the United States that follows the efforts of main characters Joel and Ellie as they fight to survive.
This seems to be a great direction naughty dog's flying over to. Drake the first time was shocking, the second time interesting, the third repetitive and lame. This takes all the right elements from Uncharted and combines it with the winning survival formula and seems to be sound. Good Work, Im sold.
@Soothsayer42 : I don't have one yet but I am getting one asap as I can get the money for it. I'll definitely be happy to tell you once I do! :)
@moviequest14 just curious... never thought you have a PS3 before, cause you didn't follow any games other than Nintendo Games. so what's your PSN?
Can I say that I'm happy they're not making Uncharted 4?! A new IP is always appreciated, espescially from a talented developer like Naughty Dog. Looking forward to it.
@moviequest14 Why you got thumbed down for that comment is beyond me :? Unless maybe folks just didn't read it right. I know what you meant! And I couldn't agree more, the Uncharted games are brilliant.
Great, my wallet is already begging for mercy. I should have some money to spare when the year comes to an end. :)
@Spartan_418 Sure...developer should wait for a console that will be released in like 2 years so make it another 2 to make the game, thats smart move uh?
Given the insane level of graphical fidelity in the trailer, why not hold off and make this a PS4 game instead, and actually make the in-game visuals look like that? Well, I suppose the sequel will be at least
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_of_Us "The roles of both main characters in the game, Ellie and Joel, are played by Ashley Johnson and Troy Baker."
@moviequest14 They're working on The Last of Us in parallel with Uncharted. Have no fear, another 2 year development cycle and Uncharted 4 will be hitting shelves.
I wish it was a more specific release date... but I guess it's still too early to tell. I have no trust when it comes to broad release windows.
Man, it sucks to see such a good looking, interesting trailer, then have to wait a while to get your hands on it. This game kinda reminds me a little of I Am Legend, with the mutated humans, instead of zombies. Naughty Dog has sure set the bar on the PS3, which few have matched, so I'm expecting big things from this game. Oh well, hopefully this and The Last Guardian will arrive about the same time. I think I'll have to go on vacation about that time!
@godzillavskong They werent Zombies in I am legend, they were vampires, besides Id say both this game and that movie have mutated humans. I am Legend was exactly the first thing to come to mind when I first saw this game.
@dawnofhero : While Last of Us will ease the pain I don't know if I could ever consider a break from Uncharted ''nice'' :P
Freakin awesome. Naughty Dog is one of the few developers left who actually makes quality games instead of cheap pandering easy cash games like so many others.
Are we getting the still-unannounced God of War 4 this holiday? No? Then we'll see you in early November, Naughty Dog. Sony needs somethin' exclusive to stand up to Microsoft's Halo 4 and Nintendo's WiiU.
The model definitely looks more like Ellen Page than Ashley Johnson who actually voiced the character and did the mocap too I think. But thats cool they are both teh hots and the game looks fantastic. Naughty Dog knows how to make a game with polish and I am sure they are floating on huge bags of cash from all that Uncharted money. This a pre-order for me,
@moviequest14 Its quite painful having to wait for The Last Guardian (which seems like being abandoned) however theres still great games such as Bioshock Infinite,Max Payne 3,Mass Effect 3,Starhawk, before the release of The Last of Us. And Naughty Dog never missed their dateline. ;)
Intriguing. Would like to know how it plays though. @noodlzethegreat That's not Ellen Page. It's Ashley Johnson.
@_Judas_ I agree. waiting sucks. and i'm glad just because the girl looks similar to ellen page, they assume its her. do some research.
ahh, I hate getting to know good games WAAY earlier than they are released. This means I have to wait a year to play this game. According to imdb.com, the girl is played by Ashley Johnson, not Ellen Page...
What's Juno doing here! She's gonna get pregnant for sure again! How is she gonna fight zombies pregnant?
The moment I saw the trailer when it was released I was sold. I have faith that Naughty Dog will make a great game. I was impressed with every gamed they've made (except Crash Bandicoot).
wont be suprised if its good, Naughty Dog is one of the developers i trusted because they give everything they got> It's gonna be over 9000 and i will never take an arrow to my knee!
I really hope they're able to release it in time for the holidays, but I'm willing to wait if it means the difference between a good game with some hindering issues and a truly phenomenal, polished gem of near perfection. I'm so excited for this game... I just hope it's able to live up to expectations. Though, after the Uncharted series, I have a lot of faith in Naughty Dog to deliver something truly spectacular.
Well This game looks great and instresting. If out next year i would like and pp like the Last of Us demo.
This is the closest game to horror/survival that Naughty Dog has made right? I liked the tastes they gave in that Uncharted 1 part, so my excitement is undeniable :P
I'd like to see a Beta or something more before I get too excited about this game. It looks promising, but I've felt that way about a lot of games and they've come up short...
