@ZackMAck43 I don't think you understood my point. The scenario I brought up was a man recording a movie at the theater and then distributing it. Doing that is illegal regardless of SOPA and PIPA. Buying a DVD and making a digital copy isn't illegal, but if you have to crack or bypass copy protection on the DVD to make your digital copy THAT is illegal, which is why a lot of DVDs and Blurays have a digital copy with them. Basically you can't record in a theater, you can't crack copy protection without breaking laws that are currently in place. My point that you failed to miss is SOPA and PIPA will give the owners of the Intellectual Property recourse to punish everyone, i.e. the person that uploaded it, the site it was uploaded on, the people that downloaded it after. All that can be done without due process, a basic right given to United States citizens. The site and people that downloaded it should be excluded from punishment. It's already illegal to copy movies and games, If you think you have the freedom to copy them, that you have purchased that right... you haven't IF there is copy protection built into the product you bought.
The HotSpot - Game of the Year, and then? - 1/4/12
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim blah, blah, blah. We get it. It's good. What's next?
…and we're back. 2012 begins with a case of mild-to-moderate whiplash, as Shaun McInnis, Chris Watters, Tom Mc Shea, and Tom Magrino take a quick look back at 2011 and then a long look ahead at 2012. Can the industry with a straight face make 2012 a year of 4s, as 2011 was a year of 3s? Will Microsoft unveil the Xbox 720? Is the PlayStation Vita DOA? How many Wii U tablets could a Wii U tablet tablet if a Wii U tablet could tablet tablet? Answers are in short supply, but we'll speculate our a**es off anyway!
