I'll be interested to see how the game makes use of the DS's features. The touch screen is obvious, but will we be able to use the microphone when using jedi (or in this case Sith) mind tricks?
New Star Wars lost in space, won't make its November 2007 date; game pushed back to Q2 2008.
The disturbance in the Force felt today by the legions of Star Wars fans wasn't the destruction of planet Alderaan or George Lucas considering a Super Special Edition of the original trilogy. The eerie feeling came from the LucasArts galaxy, where the developer announced that the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was being delayed.
Less than a month ago, LucasArts posted a ship date of November 2007 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, and Nintendo DS game on the game's official Web site. However, representatives from LucasArts today told GameSpot that the game would now ship in spring 2008. The game's Web site lists its availability date as "TBD."
LucasArts did not mention any reason for the delay. For more information on Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, read GameSpot's previous coverage.
I can't wait till I can play it on the PSP.... But, wouldn't it be cool to play a small version of Star wars Galaxies on the PSP or PC.... I mean think about it, you could buy tat. land and space... then if you want more there upgrade's, like naboo disc set, we have DVD's to put ton's of information. the days of people haven 10mb hard drive's are gone.... Pc's come out with at least 120gb now or even more.... maybe there could be a PSP version with a way to put game files over to memory stick, or a PC version where you could put different files on a flash drive, or portable hard drive... It's not very much for 20gb hard drives or even with the cost going down the 500gb is at $100.00 so had $20.00 for the game I wouldn't mind getting a game with 500gb's on the Pc with maybe a few DVD's, and some files on your hard drive, you 4 plus gb on dvd, and say 10gb used on your hard drive, that's almost 515gb's.... I would love to get a game like this... maybe transfer you save's to play on the PSP.... The game doesn't have to be as big as galxaies for a one player version... or be able to take your person online..... I don't know about you but i hate tring to get online when there's no service or when there's lot's of people plaing the game... they could even make the game like the old style that everyone likes... I played the game for just about 6 months and with all the down time I really didn't like to pay for a months worth when most of the time I wasn't able to play... well, just a thought
This sucks there is no mention of a PC version, I mean come on if you can cram it on to PS2 and Nintendo consoles you have just got to be able to get it on PC as well. I mean sure I could get one of the console versions but I prefer PC and I can't be the only person who is going to have this problem. As for tthe delay lets imagine that they are either actually doing a PC version, or test runs have found a million holes that they don't want us to complain about when it comes out. Ps does anyone out there know if the Star Destroyer crashing shot is cinematic, in-game cinematic or actual game.
this gives them more time to put more crazy S@!# into the game ive played star wars games when i was a kid and i stopped at attack of the clones..now ive played star wars battlefront renegade squadron and i feel like im reunited..ive always love star wars since i was 5 cant wait till this comes out for psps ....i hope they make it wifi (infasracture) mode
i have to agree with DarthEthong467, its suprising that this comes to PS2. i just hope that they wont be cutting down graphics. but its good thing that they delayed the game, they should finish the game to its finest and when its ready then ship it out, not when the date says
I can't belive they're making this for the PS2. That saves me the trouble of buying a new console!!!
ARRGGG! Why does this keep happening. I am tired of waiting for the same games, only to be delayed. And most definitly Lucas arts had a hand in the creation of KOTOR much less KOTOR 2
meh, enough coming out this year, i'll be happy to get this early next year to keep the great gaming going for a few more months :) oh, and just a little heads up, LucasArts didn't actually make KOTOR or KOTOR 2... that was Bioware for the first game and Obsidian for the second. Lucas just published them (don't quote me on that but i'm pretty sure i'm correct :P )
Well we have to wait a bit longer, hopefully it will be worth a the wait. I am keeping my eye on this one.
So instead of nine months we wait a year if that. If it helps with any bugs they think they have, let em do it. Its freakin LucasArts, I think they know what they are doing.
Maybe it might just be a small problem that they posted up 2008 just in case it takes a while to fix. They haven't posted a reason so anything could be possible. Hopefully they are just adding extra gameplay though.
I don't think I've ever seen a game that didn't get delayed from its original release date. I'm sure there's good reason but it'd be nice if they didn't announce anything till they're pretty sure.
Generally: delays are less unpalatable if the company involved explains themselves to their potential customers. The current worst offender(s?) in this vein would be Jack of All Games and XS Games, for repeated and unexplained - tidbits have turned up on various fora, but official word is woefully lacking - delays of the Red Star adaptation (it was originally scheduled for release -last August-!) One can only wonder what the problem really is, given that the game was inherited in a pretty-much-complete form.
Son of a b****! They better release KOTOR 3 or some other super-awesome Star Wars game to cover up this MASSIVE timeslot or i'm gonna have my head blow up like that dude from Scanners.
Dangnabit, I wanted this game for Christmas! Oh well. I guess this means it will be of higher quality. Yay!
Big bummer having this delay. Hopefully the extra dev time makes the game as great as they claim it will be.
well, that sucks. I wish it would come out sooner but I dont want to rush them. I hope this is because theyre busy workin on KOTOR 3
'ooooooh aaaaah. i really hope this turns out to be a *Good Quality* game. please dont mess this one up Lucasarts.
I think this is good, because, USUALLY, not always, delayed games have the bugs and stuff worked out. I mean sure that sucks that it's pushed back, but i mean, they're dealing with NEW tech, so you have to let them experiment. who knows? Well, at least it's coming.
Yeah, there are a couple reasons this may have been delayed. First is they unintentionally set a release date. Second, they did not set any date but major retailers announced one (like what happened with Halo 2). Third is they are avoiding the Halo 3, GTA IV, ... traffic. My biggest guess would be that it is hard as hell to estimate how much time Euphoria and DMM take to program. Another possibilty is that it is not delayed, but the developers are giving a safe 2008 or sooner date
Usually delay to sell at a better time, then other times they realize there is a big glitch in the game which they will have to fix. But halo2 was delayed so they can remake the game so they could continue it on the 360
Delays aren't cool...but hopefully the result of the delay will be :) I don't know what to expect from it, though.....But I'm excited!
Maybe they are putting this aside to work on the next KOTOR game (probably not but i would be glad if they were).
ok in the tech demos the graphics and pysics rocked so in spring 2008...its gonna get better way way way better...omg think of it...it is awsome
Man,I have been talking and hyping this game so much to my friends and sending Youtube videos on MySpace. Now it's pushed back till Spring 08? Kinda makes you mad and rather have them have never said a projected release date to begin with. Better late than never I suppose.
It's disappointing that it won't be out for longer. But if it makes the game more polished then it's worth the wait.
