This game is so badass. I've played it, and have to totally disagree with most of your views. Sure, the graphics are bad (characters don't even move their mouths during in-game cutscenes), but the action is amazing. Also, keep in mind that this is a very, very old demo that came out a long time ago in Japan (I remember them covering it), and the new product looks much more promising. This demo is not the best one to put out. But the game will be awesome, and I'm getting it today. I had so much fun with the demo, I can't wait for the review!
Tenchu Z goes gold, demo due soon
Long-running medieval stealth-action series to debut on Xbox 360 June 12; demo hits Live tomorrow.
Last October, Microsoft and From Software released Tenchu Senran, the latest in K2's long line of ninja games, in Japan. Then, in January, Microsoft confirmed it would be brining the game to the Xbox 360 domestically, bearing the more Western-language-friendly title Tenchu Z.
Today, Microsoft sends word that the game has gone gold and is set for release June 12. The game's stealth kills and feudal assassinations earned it an M for Mature rating, and the game will retail for $59.99. Gamers who missed out on the Japanese Tenchu demo, released under Microsoft's Bringing It Home campaign during last year's Tokyo Game Show, will be happy to know a US-region demo will be available sometime tomorrow.
Featured in this latest installment in the long-running series are the ninja's tried-and-true bag of explosives and other accoutrements, as well as a new stealth-kill system, a new shadow-detection system, and a range of character-customization options. Online co-op play for two to four players will also be available over Xbox Live. For more, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
