@Oldboy08 Awhhhh, your lucky. I remember when I was a kid living in South Florida, there was a HUGE arcade housed in a faux castle like building. And when I say HUGE, I mean HUGE. They had hundreds and hundreds of cabinets, as well as pinball machines. They also had a massive go cart track, big miniature golf course, big batting cages, etc. The place was great. But it's long since bulldozed over. Sad.
Japanese arcade update of Namco Bandai's latest fighter to feature one-on-one and one-on-two fights.
Fresh out of the 2012 AOU Amusement Expo in Japan, Namco Bandai has announced a new update to the arcade title Tekken Tag Tournament 2. The new version is called Tekken Unlimited Tag Tournament 2 and is slated for release this spring in Japan arcades.
According to Twitter posts from Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada, the update will now allow players to play one-versus-one matches like regular Tekken in addition to the past game's tag play. Further, players have the option to fight in one-versus-two matches.
Harada clarified that the gameplay for that mode will be balanced so that a player using a single character can cope against two opponents. The update also features pair play, where four players fight each other much like in Scramble mode in the upcoming Street Fighter X Tekken. There is no word on whether the arcade update will be released outside of Japan.
The console versions of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will be arriving on shelves this holiday season. For more information, check out GameSpot's recent coverage on the title.
@CptRexKramer Arcades are still VERY popular here in Japan. I doubt this will be anywhere else but Japan. In Akihabara they have 3 huge arcades within 5 minutes walk of eachother, and that is just on one street in a small part of Tokyo.
People still play tekken? Wow i remember when i used to go down to the local arcade store and play that..
@FighterHayabusa Man. Do your research first before you decide to post. Clearly, I know what I am talking about my friend.
OOOH baby, I've already played this. I got ahead of the crowd when I went to Hong Kong last month. The final boss is a evil version of Jun Kazama by the way.
There are still arcades? They still make games for arcades? Wow. I went to the pinball hall of fame in Vegas some year ago, but I can't remember the last time I was in a proper arcade. Do you remember when places like Chuck E Cheese or your local mall actually had cabinet and pinball games. Those memories are fading fast. It's a shame, really. :(
@FighterHayabusa He's talking about Tekken X Street Fighter that hasn't been developed yet and NOT Street Fighter X Tekken that will be released soon... these two are different games See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tekken_X_Street_Fighter And http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street_Fighter_X_Tekken
sweet, although, everytime i go to the arcade and play against the comp, some japanese fighter game whiz gets on the other machine and proceeds to stomp my ass...over 10 matches against random japanese...0 wins. this is why i dont go to the arcades very often anymore...
Sounds like Tekken Tag 2 is going to own this year. I am so glad Namco decided to delay or scrap the idea of a Tekken X Street Fighter. Tekken Tag was so popular that it was really hard to get a copy of the game if you waited too long to get it back then. And Tekken Tag 2 will definitely be one of the most anticipated fighters of 2012. Hail the Iron Fist Tournament!
@Flying_Carcass Yep. In Japan, arcades are still in top form. As for the US....well....the arcade scene isn't like it used to be. Some areas still keep it alive. However, there are some arcades that still go strong. For instance, the Galloping Ghost in Chicago is still around. And the place is doing well. If it wasn't for the Galloping Ghost I wouldn't have been able to play KOF 13 and cult classics like AVP and Golden Axe the Revenge of Death Adder.
This will probably become the console version of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 this holiday season. After two years of waiting for a new Tekken, I am really looking forward to playing this! But until then, I will have Street Fighter X Tekken to keep me busy. :) Juri + Ling Xiaoyu = Deadly!
Wait wait wait!!! "The console versions of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will be arriving on shelves this holiday season" is this for america? or japan? or both?
I'm unlikely to find the arcade version anywhere in my country any time soon, so I'm still keenly awaiting the console version. I've played way too much of the prologue on Tekken Hybrid, and the original TTT is still amazing. Can't wait to stomp some heads when TTT2 hits consoles. Gonna be awesome.
