Tekken 3 Release Date Confirmed

Namco announces the official release date for Tekken 3 - get ready to rumble!

Comments

Monday, Namco announced an official release date for Tekken 3 - the long-awaited third installment of the company's most popular fighting game series: April 30. The PlayStation game will be released in Japan on March 26, a few days after the Tokyo Game Show ends.

So what's the plan for Namco? Tekken Tuesday? "We're not going to create a gimmicky name for our release date," Mike Fischer, Namco's director of marketing, said in a statement. "It's just going to be called 'April 30.' Of course, after the fact the industry may be referring to it as 'The Day the Earth Shook'." We'll just have to see how good the game looks in motion to judge if it's really earthshaking, but it's surely good news to PlayStation owners awaiting the game.

Namco hasn't announced everything for the year but so far its lineup for 98 includes: Klonoa in March, Point Blank and Tekken 3 in April, and Tales of Destiny in the third or fourth quarter of the year. As far as a home conversion of Time Crisis 2 goes, Namco says "at least not in '98."
