Tecmo Bowl tackles VC, Sexy Poker dealt on WiiWare

Nintendo's downloadable content update sees a return of the virtual console after a two-week absence, along with two WiiWare games and a DS title. Of the two Wii updates, Overturn and Sexy Poker, the latter stands out, as the M-rated game was effectively banned in Australia due to nude content. Gameloft's strip poker game features six manga-inspired female competitors who now lose only their outerwear--including nurse outfits, police and sports uniforms, and business wear--if the player wins. The game costs 500 Wii points ($5).

Shifting from flesh to metal, Studio Zan's Overturn is a mech-based arena fighter that takes advantage of the Wii Balance Board and online competitive play. Players can choose to control one of eight different robots in six single-player tournaments and play in two-player or four-player online battles. The knock-'em-sock-'em title costs 800 Wii points ($8 ).

On the Virtual Console, this week's 1987 football-sim Tecmo Bowl is the first VC release since the July 13 update of Secret Command and Pulseman. The 600-Wii-point ($6) pigskin title sports two-on-two matchups, solo play, and difficulty adjustment.

Rounding out this week's additions is Nintendo's Art Style: precipice for the DS, following up on the DSi release of Art Style: ZENGAGE on July 20. In precipice, players must climb stacked cubes while dodging falling bricks that leave an ominous shadow where they're about to land. The title has a price tag of 500 DSi points ($5).

I still dont understand why Australia is so sensitive if you look into their movie history they did some raunchy stuff on non porn movies.

whoa i like the wii now thanks to that awesome poker game!!!!

I'm sorry, but what exactly did you people expect for a pricetag UNDER $10?? I'm sure these are more fun than channel-surfing....... And, I bought the VC version of TB back when it came out - I'm very angry at the purchase, as the exclusive EA agreement had TB erase all of the names - so it's "blank guy" scores a TD!?!?......I doubt that has changed with this version......

Is it just me or has the VC had a dry spell for ages now.

Why is everyone discussing the poker game? Rejoice, we have Tecmo Bowl!

We got the NES version last time. The one we got this week is the original arcade version, which originally used two screens to create one long horizontal screen, which I assume will result in a "widescreen" appearance for the Virtual Console version.

Didn't we already get Tecmo Bowl? Looks like it's gonna be a longer wait for VC.

@Bodboy466 I'm glad you approve. :D

lol, according to Kotaku, the strip poker game doesn't even have nudity... what's the point of "strip" poker if no one strips? It's like playing baseball without the ball.

Just to add to the WTF factor of Sexy Poker, there isn't even any nudity. I guess the girls end up in swimsuits or lingerie or something. Pretty amazing that something that tame would be banned in Australia. Even more amazing that something that tame would have an audience in the era of the Internet, where you can watch actual human females do anything you like without the flimsy pretext of badly-designed poker. I guess some people still like it old-fashioned.

@athenian29 Alright, I nearly fall out of my seat, that was so damn funny!

The Wii doesn't have nearly enough strip poker games, does it?

OMG TEH HAXXORZZZ WILL TOATLLY BAI THESE! UBER 1337!!!!!!!!! Seriously, who gives a hoot? This "Overturn" looks like a knock-off of MechWarrior, and the only people who are going to bother with the Poker game are 50-year-old perverts who won a "Hold Your Wee for a Wii" Contest and molest their daughters.

Who would've expected Nintendo to break the nudity wall in this edition of the Console Wars? Can Carmen Electra Strip Wii Fit be far behind?

chappy_man 13 pts

the robot combat looks cool, dunno about the poker thing........

ColdfireTrilogy 12 pts

boy that video sure makes this game look exciting .... 0_0. between the amazing sound effects and the super cool action this game looks to be quite the ModernWarfare2 killer !!!!!! ...
