Team Bondi's Whore of the Orient hitting next-gen consoles, PC
L.A. Noire studio website updated with new information on upcoming 1936 Shanghai-set game; Warner Bros. logo shown.
Team Bondi is back. The L.A. Noire studio's website was recently updated with new information on the company's next project, Whore of the Orient. The game will be set in Shanghai in 1936 and will make its debut on next generation consoles and PC.
As was previously announced, Sydney, Australia-based multimedia firm KMM Interactive Productions (Happy Feet 2, Mad Max: Fury Road) purchased the rights to Whore of the Orient, but it also appears Warner Bros. is involved with the project. A logo for that company is also visible on the new website, and as of press time, the company had not responded to GameSpot's request for comment.
Additionally, Team Bondi is looking for more help with its new project. The studio currently has ten open positions at its Sydney office, including calls for programmers, artists, and animators.
As for the game, Whore of the Orient puts players into the "most corrupt and decadent city on the planet." Shanghai in 1936, according to the game's description, is a "boiling pot of Chinese nationalism," with Kuomintang forces attempting to suppress the spread of communism while a group of Western police officials try to keep the peace. It is not clear what role players will take on in Whore of the Orient.
Team Bondi founder Brendan McNamara previously described Whore of the Orient as "one of the great untold stories of the 20th century." For more on Team Bondi's latest body of work, check out GameSpot's review of L.A. Noire.
