E3 2009: Crossover fighting game set for winter launch as publisher explores possibility of adding new characters to both sides, non-local multiplayer.
LOS ANGELES--When Marvel vs. Capcom 2 launches on the Xbox 360 and PS3 this summer, it will do so with the addition of online multiplayer action, a glaring omission in previous console ports of the arcade fighter. Another upcoming crossover brawler from the publisher--Tatsunoko vs. Capcom for the Wii--may be in for the same treatment.
Capcom has announced that it is "looking into adding new features to the game, including possible additions of several new characters from both Capcom and Tatsunoko and is exploring the option of online gameplay."
Currently the game has a roster of more than 20 characters pulled from both companies' brands. Capcom is represented by mainstays like Street Fighter's Ryu and Mega Man, while the anime studio Tatsunoko brings Ken from Gatchaman and the cybernetic Casshan.
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Ultimate All-Stars is set for a winter release on the Wii in North America. For more on the title and the rest of Capcom's lineup, read GameSpot's pre-E3 previews--and also check out the ongoing coverage of the Electronic Entertainment Expo.
I'm kinda an old school amine freak so I sorta know who the Tatsunoko characters are and what the company is. The most famous amine(here in the states) originally done by them that most people know is Speed Racer(Mach Go Go) and I think speed would fight ok here(call the car for some special moves XD). I'd also like to see Amaterasu from Okami as I think all those brush strokes would be great in an over the top fighter XD
This might be the only game people in America get where they don't know who half of the characters are lol
As long as the gameplay is as awesome as any other previous capcom fighting game, I'm good. I think this game is really for promoting the animation studio's anime to North American audiences. Tatsunoko anime owns, can't wait to play as casshern.
the japanese version of the game already have: character bios, animated secuences in the endings of each character, a lot of colors each characters, i know because i have the japanese version. so its for sure that te us version is going to have all the features of the original plus some new ones
sounds like a good game although i say it needs to have a good story mode, since its using allot of anime characters it needs to have animated story clips . if they want us to fork over our hard earned money for this game they should at least put a little extra effort into making a decent story mode. the opening video is fairtl decent quality if the story clips are equal quality to that then i should be happy.
Sorry for the double post but my message was too long. They should have a normal and hard challenge trial like SF4. Those challenges made you get to know that character's combos and let you see what you could change and substitute certain moves in certain combos for different situations. Not only does the challenges give you combos to use but it also inspires you to take those combos and see what else you can do with them. such as combining or taking that combo and tweaking it into your own combo. and the major thing ONLINE. I need online because most of my friends are not fans of street fighter or 2D fighters all together. They are mostly fans of Tekken, Mortal Kombat and Soul Calibur. So I need someone else to play, and not just the cpu. These things would be nice to see. but even if they aren't in. I'll buy the game anyway.
The game is already sold in my mind but this stuff would be nice to be featured in this game. Character bios. I'm sure that there are many people out there like me that have no idea who most of this Tatsunoko characters are if any at all, or know what Tatsunoko is. So it would be nice for Capcom to give us some back story on all the characters not just some, so we know more about who we are playing with. Alot and I do mean ALOT, of unlockables. Maybe this is just me, but I am a very competitive person, and when I get a game I want to unlock everything I can in the game. But there should be a good balance in the unlockables. there should be simple ones to get. then there should be some that you would really have to work at to get. such as a high combo challenge. speaking of challenges....Challenges.
I wouldn't mind going Yatterman online :) I think it was hinted in a NP interview... EDIT: BTW, judging from the video, I REALLY hope they're going to add English VOs...
Actually, I simply just assumed that it was going to be online from the start. I'm surprised to hear that online play is only being "considered." Unfortunately I would have to pass if this feature is not implemented only because my friends are not into these kinds of games. Playing it by myself would make me very sad =(.

Uhm... To be honest nintendo wii it's the first Nintendo Home console in years having so much third party support... are you sure of what u say? 8P

Capcom really needs to put M. Bison and/or Guile in this as well. As For Tatsunoko, Samurai Pizza Cats and Speed Racer are all I need.
Online makes the game so much better to show off your skills but otherwise even if it won't have online I'll get it besides the fight of online or not it makes the game just smoking cool.
Can Capcom throw in some character bios just so that those of us who aren't in the know about some of the Tatsunoko fighters, can learn more about them. That'll be good. Lots of random unlockables are a good idea too Capcom. Just for completists like me.
Now capcom can think about adding new characters to this Wii exclusive title but wouldnt consider add new characters to MvC2?!!! Let's just hope and pray that they are indeed working on MvC3 as we speak and putting our character ideas in that game. Sheesh Capcom!!
Might go online? A game like this demands online. If this game doesn't get an online it will lose a lot if its appeal.
All I want is Ken Masters. Put him on there and I can make that awesome team I like. Ken x Morrigan And few other characters. Dante, Akuma, B.B. Hood, Vergil, Jill Valentine, and Cammy.
Online makes this a must have. As for extra characters? SF4 will probably get a rep (C. Viper?), maybe someone like Dante also. Dunno too much about Tatsunoko to make a call on that.
Oh and for those of you who dont want it for the Wii, well tough. HD consoles got SF4 so the Wii gets this, that is only fair. And that is from Capcom, not from me.
There is a legion of untapped Capcom characters. Leon S. would be great, also Amaterasu and Dante. The Samurai Pizza Cats too. I loved them as a kid. Please no more Street Fighter characters though please. I am absolutely sick to death of playing as the same fighters when there is no need for them. Just Ryu, Alex and Chun-li is enough please.
People, stop whining about why capcom chose this for Wii only. How do you expect the Wii to get people into fighting games if they get no fighting games? Stop whining and get on with your lives. It's Wii-only, deal with it. And stop saying real gamers only own PS and Xbox because that is about as far away from the truth as anything. first off, there is no such thing as a "real gamer". People play games because they like to, people made that term to make themselves feel higher than people that play games less than they do or don't play them at all. It's an ego boosting term made for ego-tistical people (Mostly sore losers at that). I for one am excited for this game. Gouki/Akuma is pretty much confirmed due to the fact that people can't play SF without him The samurai Pizza cats and Speed Racer are pretty much confirmed due to the demand for those characters. I'm looking forward to using the Samurai Pizza Cats and Speed Racer along with Roll to pummel you all online.
wierd this is coming out for the wii but finally some games are coming out for it, i was about to trade mine in a few months ago
