Taito to release 50th-anniversary title
A new action game featuring art design from Toshihiro Kawamoto will be released by Red Entertainment.
According to the latest issue of Famitsu magazine, Taito is working in collaboration with Sega's Red Entertainment to release Bujingai, an action game for the PlayStation 2. Bujingai will be a 50th-anniversary-commemoration release for Taito, and its development staff will feature a number of high-profile people. Toshihiro Kawamoto (known for his work on Cowboy Bebop and Wolf's Rain) will be designing the characters in Bujingai, while the scenario will be written by Yousuke Kuroda (known for his work on Trigun and Onegai Teacher). The main character will be modeled after and acted out by J-pop singer Gackt.
Bujingai takes place in the 22nd century, when humankind has been showered by radiation due to a malfunction from a space satellite that was supposed to help humans to survive. The game begins as the main character, Lau Wong, goes on a journey to stop his friend, who has become a demon. Lau uses two swords, and they can used to execute different combos and attacks. A number of magic attacks such as fireball projectiles and sword blasts are also present in the game. In addition, Lau has the special ability of dashing on walls and gliding through the air in wire-action style.
Bujingai is currently 50-percent complete, and it is scheduled for release in winter this year.
