Why is Microsoft charging the same price (or even MORE) then the IPad for their Surface Tablets? If they want to compete with the IPad they will need to cut as least $150 - $200 off of these Surfaces tablets. Amazon's Kindle and Kindle Fire HD are selling great because they are almost 1/2 the price of the IPads and offer almost identical features and app support. Microsoft's Surface Tablets offer the awful and hard to use Window 8 O/S that no one wants. They should release tablets with XP and Windows 7 as well. Definitely lower the price though or they aren't going to sell well.

Im hating this new gen of "tablet laptops" with bad hard drive capacity, ram, graphics cards and stupid touch screens.

This is all ur fault Apple! I wish they never made that stupid iPad, now everyone wants a piece of these terrible tablets!

Microsoft should just stick to PCs and 'normal' Laptops!

I could build and incredibly powerful desktop with $1000.

I also notice battery life is not mentioned in the article.

and 128GB what the hell? I buy a 2TB hard drive for less than $80

and i thought iPad's were the most expensive when it comes to tablets. well at least this is multiple times more useful than the iPad.

Well the price is set for people making $40,000+ a year so not many younger people are going to be getting it next year. But in 2 or 3 years it will be about half that price and then maybe I can afford it. I remember when LCD TV's first came out , they were of course very expensive. This is the same thing, new tech always costs alot but will drop in price quickly once even newer versions of the same product are produced. I think we will be seeing a Apple tablet very soon that has a full OS on it and it will probably cost $1500 to $2000 when it first comes out.

hmm, more expensive than I was hoping for, anyone interested in a windows 8 pro laptop/tablet combo should give the Lenovo Yoga 11 or 13 a look

I'd rather get an 11 inch MacBook Air for a couple hundred more. Better graphical power and much smoother. Looks better than the dumb Surface, which will no doubt bomb.

Lets click a bunch of keyboards, have people dance around clicking keyboards, make shapes of clicking keyboards,,and,,, then all the people will run out and buy a $900 tablet with no keyboard...Either Microsoft thinks everyone is so stupid or people really are... They are selling clicking,,YEAHHH!

There are better things to spend money on.

Pretty expensive but I see this is a true laptop replacement and the specs are pretty good - full size USB 3 port is great. Hopefully prices will come down eventually.

Shooo! 1000 bucks. That's scary. It damn near kills me to fork out 300-500 bucks on a console. As nice as it would be to own one of those, I think my debt will make sure we never meet. Lol.

Its a super tablet what do you guys expect don't think of the surface pro Tab is in the same range as of a Ipad or Android (Thats what the Surface RT is here for) but as an ultrabook range.

By the way the paragraph about the newest iPad costing 500$ is really meaningless. Do you write a paragraph about the price of a scooter when reviewing a heavy motorcycle?

It's expensive, however a tablet running a full windows os will increase my productivity. We'll see if i regret my decision come february

windows tries too hard to be like Apple. In the end it will alienate PC users and wont win over many Apple users. 

Only M$ could come up with a Laplet/Tabtop for $1000...$500 for a Laptop $500 for a Tablet....errr yeah, ok then...here's my money WINBLOWS.

900$ Microsoft tablet, With windows 8 pro. Such good combo. My dream come true i won't buy it because i won't have any dreams left.

I am saddened by all the blind, hateful, uninformed remarks regarding a gaming capable laptop/tablet hybrid like this is getting, a lot of people pretend to be tech savvy but they have no idea what they're talking about.

If this had the Apple label on it, it would cost twice as much and these people would lineup for hours and hours to get it. Brainwashed, ignorant hypocrites, *sigh*.
