BBFC website hands down category 12 rating for latest update to Capcom's flagship fighting franchise, specifies June 24 release date.
Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition is one step closer to coming home. The British Board of Film Classification today gave the game a category 12 rating for the Xbox 360, and an expected release date of June 24.
The Arcade Edition of Super Street Fighter IV includes four new characters. In addition to Street Fighter III veterans Yun and Yang, the game sees a demonic pair joining the roster in the form of Evil Ryu and an even eviler version of Akuma called Oni.
Last month, the game's producer Yoshinori Ono teased on Twitter that the game would be getting a home release and told eager fans to wait until Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition had launched in Europe and North America. That game debuted in both territories over the weekend, but Ono is no more forthcoming about the Arcade Edition's home release plans. In response to a fan's Twitter question about a North American Arcade Edition release today, Ono posted, "Could be wait it news soon…"
When asked for comment, a Capcom representative told GameSpot that the publisher has not made any announcements about a home release of the game.
They should just make a Street Fighter game with every single character from all of the Street Fighter games ever made. That includes the characters they added 2 Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max. & let that b the last Street Fighter stand alone game. or remake the 1st game & add Gotetsu the master of Akuma & Gouken. I say this cuz this is getting crazy with all the versions of the same game.
Considering that Super was $40 and this will probably be $40 too, that means we got $80 worth of DLC? Don't think so... The real reason they don't make it DLC is because people wouldn't be tricked into paying that much, but when you give them the whole game it makes it a lot easier. Seriously, the tweaks should be patches that are constantly updated, and the extra characters should have been DLC. Also, always making a new trophy list kind of ruins the point of making certain trophies that you get over time. Those trophies become pointless if they are just going to be replaced by new ones with the new version. They should just have a universal trophy list for the most part. Cause I'm sure people who have worked for their trophies don't like having to do them again because they want the complete SF4 experience time and time again.
@kavadias1981 : (Sf2 sf2ce sf2t ssf2 ssf2t did i get that right? There were 5 sf2's.) Don't forget Hyper SF2 Anniversary Edition and SSF2THDremix. Even though they were released much later they're still updates and bring the total up to at least 7.
Lol at the whining, are you guys so low on cash that you can't afford another 30/40 bucks? I don't know about you but I've already played more than 300 hours of SSF4,I got my money's worth. So what's wrong with an updated game with more characters (I'm expecting more than 4 new characters)? I'm just hoping they'll give us new levels.
and after Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition there will be Super Street fighter IV Turbo and let us not forget Street Fighter IV - The New Challengers.
Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition. The name, long and ridiculous says it all. Four new characters that seem like palette swaps of existing ones. Yun and Yang are basically similar to Gen and Evil Ryu and Oni speak for themselves. C'mon this mirrors the ridiculousness of Super Street Fighter II Turbo...just let it die already.
Hopefully it has lots of new Ryus with different heads and slightly different fireballs. If there's one thing Street Fighter needs more of it's unimaginative clones to dilute the main character.
I can't believe anyone is even thinking about buying this game! Capcom is nothing more than a bunch unimaginative greedy fuqs trying to milk the only IP they have left. After that sh!t they pulled with 'Super' Street Fighter, I nor my friends have bought anything that bears the Capcom moniker and this only proves I was right. Boycott these greedy pricks.
@SpotSix: Two additional characters you mean, those are just palette swaps. It's the same as adding Noob Saibot & Human Smoke along with Sektor & Cyrax, lol. They may play slightly different but it's the same character model.
There's more to it then just characters. They tweak the original gameplay to make the game more balanced - something that I don't think a downloadable patch can just fix. I'm not a programmer, but the tweaks to each character plus the 4 additional characters (yun, yang, Oni (Stronger Akuma), Evil Eyu) could be hefty for any DLC, so they may have to make it a disc. I'm too much of a fan to not get AE if it comes out on console.
Hopefully this will be released for PC, partly because Capcom did not release SSFIV for Windows. I might buy it for the expanded roster, tuned gameplay, and all the unlocked characaters. (I still haven't unlocked everybody on the original PC release of SFIV - I'm too casual of a player, but I enjoy the game.)
Crossing my fingers on this being DLC. I bought the first and second games...darned if I'm buying a third.
@Office_Ninja when was the last time you saw an arcade in the united states? in memphis, the nearest arcade is in tunica in the casinos, and even those arcade machines are old and archaic. up to 2007, the nearest arcade was at the University of Memphis, but that closed and the newest game was tekken 6. in tjapan arcades may still be awesome and accessible, and in other cities in america, that may be true, but here in the US, most of us get our gaming on at home. so this would possibly be the only way we in the US may get to play with these characters. not going to pay 40 bucks, though. but i will buy it as DLC which they said they promised they would do
I've heard this will be dlc. Like many said it will most likely come in two forms, Dlc and disc based for people that dont have it. If that isn't the case then welcome back to the day of Retro Consoles where we had one to many versions of Street Fighter. The way consoles are these days this should not be the case.
@Richmaester6907 Oh you! With your totally overused, lame, and totally predictable sense of humor! Oh man! You TOTALLY got me there lol.
I shouldnt b shocked that theyre still doing this practice with Street Fighter. Its been their mo 4 way too long now. I guess im surprised that they havent gotten with the times & just make it DLC. Im starting 2 lose respect 4 my favorite publisher.
Is it really that hard to make a few characters DLC? The only way I'll buy this is if they make it $10 less then SSFIV.
Aren´t we done with all the editions of SFIV already released? Do we really need more? I really liked SFIV but it would be better if Capcom started to work on SFV than making more versions of it.
Im going with a disc based game not everyone is online ps3s are easy to share content on and patching mvc3 has lead to occasional screen freeze. As for the people bleeting about not buying it, Im a big fan and paying £25 a year for a fresh update isnt bad value for money for me i was still playing sf4 up till ssf4 and i will still be playing that till ae. After a year plus playing a refresh is welcome.
I just played SSFIV: AE in the arcades a week or two ago. Aside from the 4 additional characters (maybe more in the future), noticed AI difficulty has definitely been pumped up a notch.
Should be DLC for those who just want to add to their existing copy, and released as a full disc for those that don't own it at all....
There's been leaked achievements dating around November that indicates that AE is SSFIV DLC. So it's probably going to be a Gold Edition-esqe launch with DLC for people who already have the game and a retail disc for those who don't...that, or Capcom lost it some time in between.
NOT FREAKING BUYING!! I already bought SF4 twice already, I ain't gonna buy it a 3rd time! I might consider purchasing a 2nd version of MvC3 instead should they add Megaman X.
I though I was an idiot to have skipped SSFIV after getting SFIV, but I guess good things come to those who wait.
Yeah u expect people to buy anougher copy of SSF IV get real. They could just make these 2 characters DLC.. Oh well im not buying this new version.
not buying, already made the mistake of buying the other two for the wrong console. "fool me once, shame on you. fool me twice, shame on me, fool me thrice, OH F*** YOU!" comes to mind.
I'm not spending more money on a "new" game just for 4 characters, 2 of which are just stronger versions of other characters. Now if you could download them (for a decent amount) that would be a different story.
Anyone who is surprised about this must have not played SF in the 90's. SF2 must have had ten different versions.
Cant existin ssfiv owners just buy the added characters via xbl? Im a huge sf fan, but the last thing i want is 3 sf4 titles stacked on top o 1 another
i am kinda glad I or my wife (for me :P ) bought the game yet.....might have to hold out in buying this awesome game just a little longer ;)
How many versions of this game do we need? This is like the 4th or 5th version of the same game? Honestly...
now they're supposedly having a home version of the Arcade Edition? but I heard that characters in that game were "nerfed". I was hoping they would at least have the characters for download for the Marketplace and PlayStation Store
Weird... the whole point of the "Arcade edition" was so that the home game could be adapted for araced tournament play.... why do they insist on back-porting it to the consoles?
I don't know what to do...buy this version or wait for the super street fighter: arcade edition: 3D the complete edition....
hope its on a disc personally...that way i can bring the game n my stick wherever n i got no hdd room. id also expect some more features...like survival mode/gallery.
i hope this is dlc myself but even if it's not i know i'll buy it anyway please stop tightening your grip on my nether regions capcom :(
wow! capcom, a whole new game for 4 "new" characters? I'll buy it if they add a bunch of new backgrounds, all the DLC costumes and a fighting stick for $39.99. anything less and I can live without it. I guess what I'm trying to say is, I won't be buying it. :)
