Blanka, Sakura, Bryan, Lei, and more added to portable version as Capcom promises no disc-based double dip for console editions of crossover fighter; Vita game set for fall release.
PlayStation Vita players will need to wait a few extra months for the launch of Street Fighter X Tekken, but Capcom is hoping to make it worth the wait with a dozen extra characters.
Capcom today announced a fall release date for the PS Vita version of Street Fighter X Tekken and detailed a dozen new fighters--six from each franchise--that will appear first on the handheld edition of the crossover fighter. Representing the Street Fighter side of things will be Blanka, Cody, Dudley, Elena, Guy, and Sakura, while Tekken stalwarts will welcome Alisa Bosconovitch, Bryan Fury, Christie Monteiro, Jack, Lars Alexandersson, and Lei Wulong.
The publisher also dropped a bit of news on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Street Fighter X Tekken, which are set to launch March 6 in North America and March 9 in Europe. Capcom promised a robust slate of downloadable content for the game, as well as a post-launch game update to tweak the gem-selection process to be more tournament friendly. More substantial updates will follow, and Capcom has promised that "all future upgrades will come from post-launch DLC," so there won't be an "Ultimate" or "Super" double dip of the game later on. A PC version of Street Fighter X Tekken has also been set for release on May 11.

Really, like Really, now i'm too wait till fall to get it on the vita, yeah yeah 12 extra characters for the vita, that's just a way of saying we need you nerds to buy more of our ps vita, we want more of your money, cant believe i'm gonna have to wait for so freaking long
i heard they are not gonna release updated versions on separate discs, as to not interfere with the upcoming TKxSF. but i expect to see SSFxT after TKxSF release lol Lucky me, i don't need any of the DLC.
Postpone the release and get those other characters in the game WTF.. No one gives a crap about Vita...
I miss the old days were games were released with everything in it not released later as DLC.
@dadreadedfro It's kind of hard not to see the fact that the PS Vita gets 12 more fighters. So I didn't really have much of a choice but to say it was exclusive.
If they become exclusive, I'm not buying the game. Plain & simple! Elenna, Sakura, and Bryan Fury are my favorite characters, if I won't get to play as them in my 360 version, why bother buying the game?

I don't think it's fair that the PS Vita gets the 12 "exclusive" characters. If Capcom wants to add characters, they should add it for all the platforms, unless they have DLC characters. That would be a different story. Yes, I understand Capcom is trying to increase Sony's sales for the PS Vita, but I don't think this is exactly the necessary way to do it.
Well i was gonna get this but now i think i'll wait. Those characters will b DLC for the consoles i'd put money on it! & i wanna c how much money i'm going 2 invest on this game. $60 4 the initial game & then what another $30 for all of the DLC characters??? I dont buy the costumes cuz thats an absolute waste of money. So now im gonna sit back & c how this game pans out.

@Philly1UPer That maybe so but it won't be how it was when Super Street Fighter IV came out whereby anyone who had the original rendition of the game couldn't even update it via DLC, they were forced to buy the new version of the game. The same thing happened with Marvel VS Capcom 3 too, that's what I don't see happening again, one can only hope Capcom keep to their word... Knowing of Ono though he could be saying that their won't be a "Super" or "Ultimate" edition but rather something else titled differently, just look at Mega Man and you'll see what I mean.
Meh I'd rather have a game updated in a crappy way than never updated at all. Capcom is a good company and you guys really need to appreciate them for what they do. How many great series have they released for you guys? Dead Rising, Devil May Cry, Lost Planet, Resident Evil, Phoenix Wright as well as Street Fighter and MvC and this now? And you guys complain! They make great games for the most part which is better than Activision, yea they milk certain series pretty hard and yea I don't agree with how they make DLC characters AT LAUNCH for a fighting game. But if anything they're far better than most game companies now a days.

That... wow. weird decision. I'm sure in "CAPCOM" fashion they will put out a "Ultimate" or "MAX" version of the game will all those characters for $40... Not happy with this Capcom. What can you do though?
Oh and it has been confirmed on Capcom unity blog that all these characters are DLC. Also, in the ESRB rating explanation they talk about the chainsaws on Alisa and Lei acting seemingly drunk. So yeah we are officially suckers if we buy this game with planned DLC that is probably either already on the disc or the characters are complete and ready to be downloaded like a week after the release of the game.
I had to comment because they are out of control at this point with this. The game will be like 100$ at the end of the day. These 12 fighters are now DLC for the home consoles plus Devil Jin, Angel, Dragonov, Safina, R Mika, Dan, Sodom, Deejay.... If you think that is all they teased up to this point think again. They said they were not going to do this and they have no screenshot leaks yet but they should be incoming. I was looking forward to this game but like MVC3 I am going to wait because I knew they were going to put the Super or Ultimate brand on MVC. This is now 3 times in a row. Expect a total of like 40$ worth of DLC in characters alone EXCLUDING costumes. Namco was better than Capcom at value then look at what happened to Tekken Prime... what a joke. The anger is intense because I really want this game. ME3 it is.

@RitsukoEX They hype the PS Vita up as a portable PS3. They will eventually release it on PS3. I actually remember for the Smackdown vs RAW games on PSP you could transfer your created wrestlers over to your PS3 and vice versa.

@MEDzZ3RO Yeaaaaaa.....all game companies start out with DLC for certain games. Then a few months later they release a GOTY/Ultimate Edition with the game and all of its DLC on one disc(How Convenient!) at about 40-50 bucks.

Am I the only 1 who doesn't see the point of releasing characters as DLC's??? They r just characters Capcom, not new modes, stages etc...!!! I thought they would of taken a leaf out of Namcos book and release ALL characters on all consoles o_O

@cream_assault Its not hard to believe at all it is harder to do a re release for cross over games because they don't own the rights to the tekken characters and on top of that you have to remember that tekken x street fighter is supposed to be coming next year. Why would they release a new version of SFxT when they are going to be pushing TxSF around the time that this supposed re release would happen according to most. This is a joint effort between namco and capcom. Im pretty sure they have agreed not to do such things. Last but not least you could just take their word for it. They have no reason to come out and lie about everything being DLC. It has been confirmed multiple times by the head producer of the game.

Where are these people to complain about SC5 only having 25 characters or even worse BB only having 19 characters after 3 updates two of which are disc only. Nobodies gettin ripped off then huh. Hating on CC has just officially become the bandwagon thing to do for no reason. Last but not least say what you want but CC's updates have always been worth the money even if they should have had a DLC option. SSF4(15 new chars and much more), SSF4AE(4 new chars and had a dlc option), and UMVC(12 new chars and more) all added enough new content to justify the price. People planning on skipping this game because of DLC should also skip every other game this year or your a hypocrite plain and simple. Thats it for me end of rant.
and here comes the wave of complainers even though the game already has a ton of characters (38 for the xbox ver and 43 for ps3) way more than most fighting games this gen. few games have more than that besides UMVC3 and maybe KOF. Also They have already came out and said that there will be the be only the one version of SFxT any updates and characters will be DLC. There may be an all DLC included release down the road buts that wont be at least until a year after release at which point it would of course be cheaper(GL waiting while people are enjoying and mastering the game). Nobody complains when other games get GOTY editions or complete collections ect and of course there would be DLC characters, rumor has it that they are gonna sale for $5 for 4 characters which is a dam good deal considering other fighters are charging $5 for one. so $15 for 12 new characters is not bad at all. This is what you asked for people now its a problem lol. Seriously though SFxT is jam packed with content out the box and people are complaining its laughable.
