well everyone after we know that they are scamming us for the DLC every dime we have they still make us pay 20$ FOR THE CHARACTERS THAT WERE ALREADY ON THE DISC ! there SCAM ! artists
Capcom moves up release of on-disc DLC fighters ahead of originally scheduled Vita launch.
The Street Fighter X Tekken 12-character downloadable content pack will drop on July 31 for $20, Capcom announced at EVO 2012. The characters were originally set to debut in the game's PlayStation Vita version this fall and then be sold to home console players later. They were discovered to be present and playable on the original discs after hacks by players.
The six Street Fighter characters in the DLC pack are Blanka, Cody, Dudley, Elena, Guy, and Sakura, while the Tekken side welcomes Alisa Bosconovitch, Bryan Fury, Christie Monteiro, Jack, Lars Alexandersson, and Lei Wulong. Capcom said the characters were excluded from the vanilla game but were retained on the disc in order to avoid problems with online play.
Street Fighter X Tekken's sales did not meet Capcom's expectations as of May, and the company has since announced it will revise its approach to on-disc DLC. For more news from EVO 2012, check out GameSpot's landing page.
[CORRECTION]: The headline of this story originally misreported the DLC release date as July 21 instead of July 31.
It's Ironic the slogan for Street Fighter X Tekken is "Will you cross the line?" And Ironically enough Capcom did.
a list of reasons why
1) I had to pay $20 for characters that was already on the bloody disc. I wanted to use Lars, Alisa, Guy, Cody and Sakura and I had to pay for it
2) Out of all the characters in the Street Fighter universe yu idiots only put FOUR CHARACTERS!!!!! Who wasn't in Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition.
3) Pandora mode is the most stupidest mode in a fighting game. Yu use pandora it's basically saying I give up
4) Those assist gems are cheap. I tell yu why yu have the newbie who will use it which is okay. But when yu have that experienced gamer who uses the auto-block gem that gamer is being cheap if the gamer doesn't want to actually fight
5) When I wanted to use Lei I go to his trials. So I can know how to use him in this game. One of his trials is Staggering slide. It stated that to use this move I have to play dead. I go to the command list it's nowhere to be found. Another reason why yu SHOULDN'T LOCK AWAY CHARACTERS LIKE THAT CAPCOM!!!!!!!
6) Capcom finds every possible way to piss off the consumers
7) Capcom lost a lot of consumers after this stunt they pulled or should I say stunts
8) Capcom managed to make a great game and completely Ruined it in every possible way.
I'm sure yu people have more reasons how capcom crossed the line. Capcom wonders why they didn't make that many sales when SFxT was released cuz we the consumers are on to ya. YU SNAKES!!!!!
Jesus, Capcom are milking us more than cows. There was a time when their games where good but now I look at it like this:
Employee 1: There we go. What do you think?
Employee 2: That one, that one, that one, him, him, her, maybe him, him, her, that one, that guy, and him.
Employee 1: What do you mean?Employee 2: I mean take them out and we can make them dlc.
Employee 1: Of course. If we cheat them out of more money when they're already pissed about us doing that enough times we can't possibly lose. You're a genius! I mean, it's not like it's our fault that we make the best (worst) dlc choices imaginable.
Employee 2: I know. Hey! How about on our next game we charge them for the box, instructions and holding the game?Employee 1: Does your genius know no bounds?
Sorry Capcom. Either give me a full game, or don't give me a game at all.
I noticed that Capcom has some really awful costumes for some characters while some get smaller costumes like swimsuits. I wonder where they will go with Elena? Will they put her in street clothes? What would a more revealing costume be? Pasties?
If Namco does this too, I'll be really mad. I can see them charging actual money for accessories in the game. You know, what? Forget that. Just give me the characters and one stage for $20.00. They can call it Tekken: Naked Edition. You want to customize your character? You pay $40.00 for DLC. No thanks, Namco! I don't care if I have to suffer through seeing Nina Williams buck naked. I'm not shelling out another dime to you!
They should have atleast make the characters purchaseable individually. That is the point of DLC, get the content what I want. If I owned the game I could be interested in paying $1,25 for Blanka, Cody, Jack, Lars and Christie
If Capcom really wants to go DLC way in fighting they should go all the way. The base bare minimum game with 1 fighter, 1 stage and only versus mode would cost $5 and then we'd be able to pay $1 for the extra characters we want, $5 for the modes we want and $0,5 for the stages we want. But that would be fair and cheap for the gamer.

Used to like Capcom, but really what is this...I would think any company with a brain at this point would save face and just release em' for free but they can't even do that! Pretty pathetic if you ask me, they've pretty much dug their company it's own grave, hope you guys like finding new jobs in a year! :3
I can't help but feel that if Capcom's apology and acknowledgement of mismanagement on this issue were the slightest bit genuine, they could have just released the unlock key as a patch. Instead, this confirms that it was just a cynical PR move to try and minimize damage, all the while with their hands in their fans pockets.
"Sorry about that guys, it really wasn't our intention to make you feel cheated. We hear your concerns and we're listening. Now pay me again".
fuuuu just as soon as i sell the game on to pay for food this week i find out they finally release that character pack. The common sense in me says i'm better off without it and paying for the extra cast. But my two main's are in the pack and would be the only reason i'd choose to play the game.
Damn you capcom, ill make ye pay for this betrayal.
*tilts head to sky and looks into the distance, fist clenched eyes welling up*
Haha.... sold it for 20$... no way I am paying for that joke again! SF 4, SSF 4, SSF4 AE... Marvel v Capcom...Nope Capcom, I will never buy another game from you.
Don't do stupid **** Capcom. Maybe if you respected us this wouldn't happen. Perhaps if you included Megaman in MvC3 and didn't use being "too punchy" as an excuse to leave out Black Panther, an iconic Avenger, from MvC3 or re-released all of the Street Fighter/crossover games I bought this gen into that Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Collection which includes all costume DLC I purchased (Really? No consideration for us early adopters who bought SF3, HD Remix, SF4, SUPER, AE, and SFXT?). Stop ruining Resident Evil franchise with Gears of War gameplay and quicktime events and maybe you wouldn't be in this predicament
What kind of moronic developer does things like charging for "Versus Mode" in Resident Evil 5? Even though it was already on the disc, we're basically paying for the unlock key.
Forget it Capcom, the damage has already been made. You're not gonna cash-in $20 from my wallet.....
The game only sold 1 million units BETWEEN Xbox 360 and Playstation 3! Dead or Alive 4 alone sold 1 million by itself on the XB 360. That's how bad they're doing Capcom barely matched DOA4 numbers and that was exclusive to 1 one platform, pathetic.
I thought Street Fighter X Tekken would sell like 3 million units or something like that. Tekken, SF4 vanilla, and Mortal Kombat sold that much. Sign of the times, you're losing us Capcom.
My god, EVO couldn't save this game. It was like nobody knows how to play the game, what a disaster.
Did Capcom get to patch out the Rolento glitch? You know... the glitch that locks the game up whenever his knife collides with any projectile, lol!
@TheArcade Yeh, you have to pay them $2.99 for the patch
Damn, damn, damn! To think I once respected this company. Course that was when the Dreamcast and Playstation One were still relevant.
@TheArcade Realistically, about 3-4 fiscal quarters after it stops being profitable. So (unless gamers actually stop paying for it)...never?
I heard you can buy the endings. They're being discounted for "Deal of the Week" instead of paying 800 MSP now we get to pay 620 man what a bargain! Other devs should take note. Hopefully they will charge us for the receipt we get at the cash register. *sarcasm*
When will the price gouging cease?
@TheArcade lol. $0.99 extra for the palette swapped purple Hadoukens
Really? I hear pretty soon they're going to start charging for combos. $5.99 for Ryu's super.
At the end of the day, there are people who are still playing the game all over the world (just set your area to ANY and you'll find them) and there are fans of the game who will gladly pay the $20 for the on-disc DLC characters. There are other fighting games available to play, but Capcom is NOT giving up on SFXTK just because of the backlash the game received. No, they're doing what the FANS asked them to do: balance and patch. Still, Capcom is damned if they do, damned if they don't. I for one am excited for the DLC characters, mainly Christie. The game is still fun and still has some life left in it.
Also, time and time again, Capcom have said that they're NOT making a disc based re-release of this game. The Vita version is basically the same game, but just have the 12 DLC character unlocked, but the core game is still the same and they can play online with PS3 gamers. SFXTK is a fun game, whether you like what Capcom did or not. I'll still play it and still ENJOY my time with it. Funny how people are complaining about paying $20 for 12 DLC characters when they paid $15 for 4 new characters and some balance patches for SS4.
I didn't fall for those 4 polygonal swaps in SSF4:AE and hardly anyone else did. The game sold less than a million units, at least SSF4 by itself made a million units. SFXT created pitiful sales numbers across both consoles. Go ahead and enjoy it because the majority of us are tired of getting screwed. If they didn't practice this DLC garbage to begin with I would have a different opinion. The thing is Capcom KNEW their fans hated it... and they did it anyway.
Maybe their sales are falling short because everyone knows an Ultimate version of the game is coming down the road. As fun as this game is, I'll wait until a game/DLC bundle comes out where I don't have to pay extra for alternate costumes and characters who should have been playable to begin with.
What next, Capcom? You gonna charge extra for the alternate weapons in Okami HD?
Never thought I would see the day where I would have to pay to play as Blanka, Jack, Christie, or Bryan in a game featuring Tekken and Street Fighter characters. What a joke Capcom....
I do not understand all this hate for SFxT. As gameplay wise, it appears to be a pretty cool fighting game, which sports quite some interesting and original mechanics and is even balanced decently - the average player seems not to appreciate or see that. I do understand to some degree the arouse caused by dl-able content being already on the dvd. But people have understand that this is pretty standard; it's very normal to prepare additional content while still building the maincontent - pretty much every other major publisher does the same. And they have their reasons for that, as the cost for producing a blockbuster-game gets higher every year - while prices for games remained pretty much the same for the last 15 years. Also, there are NOT so many more people buying games, as is required to redeem the exploding production-costs. SFvT is probably one of the most expensive fighting-games ever produced, while being cheaper to buy than "Street Fighter: The World Warrior" in it's time.
So to all the people who want great fighting games(with massive character roosts, which are intesting to play and even balanced to some degree) still to be produced: Stop the irrational hate and start supporting companys like Capcom for taking the risk of not just producing another easy to play third person/ego action game with guns and war.
@hochstreck sorry to disagree but this hate is justified, that gem system that you say is balanced more specifically assist gems have to be one of the most broken things i've ever seen i mean for example the auto block was supposed to help the inexperienced but ended up being exploited by top players with little to no cost (1/8 of your meter for none stop block, come on really!?) on top of you've got these constant times outs, cookie cutter characters from SF4 (your entire history of characters and you can only think of 4 that haven't appeared SF4 seriously), the now patched infinetes (forgive the spelling), the now patched rolento glitch (throwing a kunai at a projectile froze both consoles, this glitch was created when they patched the infinetes), the redundant pandora mode and the fact that it's a complete jab fest please capcom had this hate coming i'll be deep in the cold ground before i hand them more money especially for characters i've already paid for
Wait, so how exaclty does that cause problems with online play? :? BS, I know, but at least come up with a better excuse...I mean, Activision pulls it off just fine, and they don't sugarcoat a thing :p
I'm a little late for this party, but what exactly did Capcom do? It couldn't have been worse than BioWare/EA. I'm not being flippant, I'm geniunely interested.
@samantha_sneez Crapcom... Ahem... I mean, Capcom, said that the 12 characters were not complete and needed adjustment for online play. Thus, the characters were called DLC as we all know means DOWNLOADABLE content. Meanwhile, some 360 Hackers found all extra characters were already on the disc, hidden behind a simple hex wall, and were fully functional. They were now DLC or Disc Locked Content, and the characters exposed the blatant lies that they were 'incomplete' and 'DLC.' I understand there is always deception in business practices, but I think it was the fact that we paid 60 dollars for a game that was complete, were told downloads would come after compatibility issues were done, and (thanks to some heroic hackers) the light was shed that we were shat on by the industry.
Thanks for answering my question without resorting to immaturity like some people on website do. So Capcom pulled a BioWare/EA and told everyone that there was DLC for a character(s) that was already on the disc? I think that's a running trend for game developers to do nowadays. And what is the deal with all of this Resident Evil nonsense? Come on, enough already!
I hated the game to begin with. Finally releasing the on-disc DLC characters won't change the fact that it just wasn't a fun game.
Why does it even matter if it's already on the disc? Content that is meant to be DLC is designed and completed long before the game is even done to make extra money. Whether it's on the disc or you download it when it's "released" is moot.
The smartest thing Capcom could do right now, is to make that DLC free. That's the only way they're going to save any face.
