Strategy First signs Galactic Civilizations: Altarian Prophecy
Press Release
Montreal, Canada. Friday March 19, 2004 Publisher Strategy First Inc. and developer Stardock announced today that a new expansion pack for the award-winning turn-based strategy game Galactic Civilizations will be released in Q2 2004. Galactic Civilizations: Altarian Prophecy will add a host of new features, content and other enhancements to the original game to add depth and greater replayability.
Galactic Civilizations was widely respected in the industry as a sharp, in-depth turn-based strategy game that refreshed the genre and gave PC gamers something to get excited about, said Don McFatridge, President of Strategy First Inc. It was only natural for us to bring more of the Galactic Civilizations adventure to the fans as soon as we could.
To jump into Altarian Prophecy players must have the original Galactic Civilizations with all current update patches installed. Galactic Civilizations: Altarian Prophecy will introduce a variety of new features and content to the game including two new alien civilizations: the Korx and the Drath, and an all-new campaign called the Altarian Prophecy. Other highlights include 10 built-in scenarios, 10 custom maps and 4 new unique ships. New map, campaign and scenario editors will allow players to design their own galaxies, build their own campaigns and oversee specific game settings.
Galactic Civilizations is a space-based strategy game in which the player becomes the leader of the human civilization at the dawn of the 23rd century where 6 major civilizations are in a heated race to colonize, conquer, and dominate the galaxy using whatever means necessary. The game was originally released in March 2003 and won a host of awards including Computer Games Magazines Editors Choice Award, Games Domains Top Game Award, Wargamers Readers Choice Award 2003 and GameSpys Turn-Based Strategy Game of the Year 2003 Award.
