it would be so awesome if somebody gives them the IDEA of flying from land to space and have battles then fly down to a planet and land and have more fights... HINT...
Starhawk touching down early 2012
LightBox Interactive sequel will arrive exclusively on the PlayStation 3 in the first part of next year.
Two years ago, Sony trademarked "Starhawk," spawning talk of a sequel to the 2007 PlayStation 3 exclusive Warhawk. Today, the company made it official. The sequel, also exclusive to the PS3, will arrive early next year and provide a variety of vehicular and on-foot combat.
According to GameSpot's brand-new preview, the LightBox Interactive-developed game will be a Firefly-style space Western that will see hero Emmett Graves at the center of a conflict between those mining far-off planets for a valuable resource called "rift energy" and those who've been mutated by it. The game's single-player campaign will have a sandbox setting combined with tower-defense elements that allow players to call in air drops that pop up structures on command. These structures, in turn, allow players to defend from waves of the mutants that will attack positions.
The third-person shooter will also offer vehicle combat, including jeeps and aircraft that can apparently transform into mechs. Foes will have similar tower-defense capabilities, leaving players to construct their own fortifications to stave off assaults from the enemy. Competitive multiplayer modes will include Capture the Flag, which will let players on the same team share vehicles to mount attacks.
How direct a sequel Starhawk is to the PS3 revamp of Warhawk is unclear at this point. The older game, released in 2007, was a critical hit despite being multiplayer only. It was based on the 1995 game of the same name released on the original PlayStation.

This is great news! I just hope they keep many of the great things about Warhawk in place. I am surprised & not surprised by the name Starhawk. Why not Warhawk 2? It worked for Halo. Halohawk!!! Anyways I will be preordering this item.
about time!!!this game saved my gaming life because ps3 was my first and only console back then in the fall of 07. all systems launched about 100 bucks to much for my taste so i said first 1 to drop the price gets my cash.. should went with 360 because it had alot more games back then but the rrod rummors and stories scared me away. plus the 5 free mail in blu rays and the 100 dollar price cut on the 60 gig ps3 was to good of a value for me to pass up... just hope psn is more stable when sony fixes it.. im keeping my eyes on this game for sure though!

How about a freakin story mode! I was so pissed when they announced Warhawk was going to be multiplayer only.. They kept talking about how all the tester kept saying that multiplayer was the best part so they scrapped the only reason to get the game pretty much.
Officially interested. The story sounds very 'Dune'ish. I want to see a proper trailer or game-play footage. =)
Please let this game be better than that forgettable Warhawk. The fact that it ditches Sixaxis is a start.

This looks interesting. It certainly seems to be a change from the million and one "realistic" military shooters we've been flooded by lately.
There are just too many awesome games coming for the PS3 and too many awesome multiplatforms games.
