Comic-Con 2011: 320GB Xbox 360 package with game, white Kinect sensor, astromech-inspired console, and metallic C-3PO controller hits this fall for $449.
Star Wars Kinect was always intended to be a new take on gaming in the sci-fi franchise, but now it's going to bring with it a new take on the Xbox 360 hardware. At a Star Wars Kinect panel at Comic-Con today, Microsoft and LucasArts revealed a new Kinect Star Wars-themed Xbox 360 console set for release this fall.
The bundle will include a 320GB Xbox 360 console with an R2-D2 theme, a metallic C-3PO controller, a white Kinect sensor, and a copy of the game for $450. For comparison, the current 250GB Xbox 360 Kinect bundle with Kinect Adventures sells for $400.
Originally announced at E3 2010, Kinect Star Wars is set primarily during the time of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, with overlapping bits of the other prequel trilogy films and nods to the original Star Wars trilogy as well. Players will take orders from Yoda, cleave their way through armies of battle droids, and use Kinect-enabled Force powers to battle the Dark Side.
I might get this. The game looks pretty cool, and I wouldn't mind a Kinect for when Rise of Nightmares comes out. This would look good next to my PS3.
O my God that is the most epic thing ever! Not the game the awesome R2-D2 console with the C-3PO controller!.Wow that's incredible looking! Sadly,I already have an Xbox 360,and won't be getting this. :(
IF they can make wacky stuff like this, how come they can't release a white or silver version of the slim? I have a white version of the old model, but I'm holding off for a slim until white or silver comes out, microsoft!
Already have a perfectly fine Xbox 360 in my possession, so it's a no buy for me. However, if they sold that controller separately, I'd definitely consider buying that.
Kudos to the Microsoft marketing department. This pretty much garuntees that this game is going to be a sucess even though from the gameplay I saw it doesn't look that exciting enough, whether you own an XBox and/or Kinect or not. Star Wars fans love their memorabilia however and the fact that you got an XBox that sounds and looks like R-2 when it comes on with a matching Kinect, and a C3PO controller, as well as the game, well, this will be on a lot of people's collection shelves and auctioned all over EBay within hours of it's release. The game can end up being the worse game ever made and may outsell any Call of Duty game because of this LOL
Gears 3 bundle looks pretty cool as well. Blood Red in color with black silhouette design. Should sell pretty good too.
I already own a XBox 360, but I'd get this anyways. It's only going to be for a limited time. I'm still wondering if they will do a price drop after this promotion is over. I would hate to get this and then 2 weeks later, they do a price cut of $50. The game looks like it's still in beta. That's the same video they showed when Kinect was announced. The final game has to look and play better than this. I still think it's worth getting. ****************************************************************************************** @gashoe13 That's kinda the dumbest idea ever... if someone doesn't have a 360 at this point, this won't change their minds. If someone DOES have a 360 and actually wants to play the game, they won't pay $450 for it. The design does look pretty nice, admittedly, but it really is collectable hardware.... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Well , the same thing could have been said for the FF XIII PS3 bundle with the white PS3 and FF XIII logos. So this was dumb as well? http://beefjack.com/news/final-fantasy-xiii-bundle-announced-playstation-3/ Considering how many Star Wars fans are out there, this is going to sell like crazy. I'll probably pre-order one myself.
Now this bundle will sell out easily. The Kinect Star Wars game. Plus the Star Wars themed Xbox 360 s 320GB console & controller and Kinect motion sensor. For $450.00 this is a good deal
That seems a good shopping considering the whole bundle with the larger, that's, the "320 GB" hard disk. The only problem I see here, is the next year promise for the brand new game XBOX console. So I'll pass this so wisely "released" temptation. LOL.
if i wasnt suspicious of microsoft unveiling a new console soon...i would have this already paid for
Hmm...it looks cool, but I don't know if it's worth paying 450 dollars for that. I've seen deals where you get a 360+Kinect bundle+100 dollar gift card for 300 dollars, which is essentially 200. There aren't any going on right now but I'm sure they'll come back because there were plenty in June. Those deals are with the 4 GB, but hey, the 360 has flash drive and external hard drive support now. Use whatever you have lying around for your computer if you really need more storage.
Jesus guys it's nothing new. There are ALWAYS better hardwares at the end of a consoles lifetime! And if they wanted to, I'm sure Star Wars fans could actually buy out the pentagon. Nothing new dudes =/
@Da1ShrpSh0trGrl lol I totally agree with you... I am sure this is to try and put off people from buying an xbox or maybe it is really an attempt to sell it more?
What?! While I'm not that big on Kinect, and probably play mine about once every 2 weeks, this R2-D2 console looks to be the most interesting one yet. I may have to shell out the $$ for it, especially since my 360 is almost 4 years old.
instead of fighting vader you should fight his apprentice lol that would be cool a force unleashed cross over
That's kinda the dumbest idea ever... if someone doesn't have a 360 at this point, this won't change their minds. If someone DOES have a 360 and actually wants to play the game, they won't pay $450 for it. The design does look pretty nice, admittedly, but it really is collectable hardware....
It's a cool design, but am I the only pone who thinks it would be way better if it were actuallyt R2 shaped? that could make me buy an Xbox after 5 years of PS3.
Who in their right mind would buy 400$ console bundles so late into this gen. The next line of consoles are already around the corner. You'd only get enjoy this bundle for like what....2 years more?
still charging 400 plus for xbox 360s eh ya ill wait for my wii u thank you not wasting just for 120 more gigs, they better make a hdd for the fat of that size or better cause im runnin low and i refuse to buy a slim 360 just for the extra 120 gig
That thing looks really cool. This is what I think a special edition console should be like. You know, they should actually have something that makes them special (I'm looking at you, Final Fantasy XIII "special edition" Xbox 360.)
I think the console looks awesome and controller is also really cool, but that shiny finish on the controller looks like it will not hold up well at all. Also, the Kinect is just like a normal Kinect only white, and I'd personally rather have a black one if it isn't going to even going to have anything that really makes it match the Star Wars theme. I'm not going to get started on the game, there's a chance it might be cool, and there's a chance it might be terrible, we'll just have to wait and see.
They would've sold more had it been a Darth Vader Console. * Better yet if they made a Furry Chewbacca Console with a furry Ewok controller! * P.S. George Lucas you s***! We want the Origional Star Wars Released!! Han shot FIRST!!
That looks cool. I want that gold controller... NOW!! Yeah I know the game so far looks lame but guess what I'm still getting it because I'm a star wars nut and besides this will still impress the usual casual guests when I have parties and social gatherings especially those with kids who already love Kinect sports and dance central. By the way those saying it looks lame...stop lying. Stop thinking of the game :P
I don't care for Kinect or the game, but the console looks great and so does the controller. 320GB HDD is a solid upgrade from my 250GB MW2 unit. I wonder if they'll release the controller in a packaged deal with a battery and cord. I would definitely buy the controller. Gold controller would match my gold guns nicely. ;)
