Square Enix TMs Dragon Quest Wars

Dragon quest is the only series where I buy every title they release in the US, with the exeption of one or two

if i remember correct the some other company had license for the dragon quest name so they couldnt use that in USA

*sighs* I love gamespot.com, but...I hate it when they do this...three words have been patented and we're supposed to jump up and down with anticipation... We still have to wait to find out what it means, ya know, :-)

@Zehydra: It has always been called Dragon Quest in Japan. They called it Dragon Warrior in the US, because I guess it sounded better for the American audience. It was finally called Dragon Quest in the 8th game that came out on PS2, which is an fantastic DQ that I recommend.

this is a little off topic but does anybody know when Dragon Warrior became Dragon Quest?

Never to many Dragon Quest for me.I love the series and can't get enough of it.I love the exploring and all the adventuring it has to offer.I have found them very entertaining and I love to play them slow and get all the game has to offer.Just the thought of another Dragon Quest game makes me elated.Bring them on Square-Enix and I will buy them all.

It took me a while to realize this doesn't have a platform yet. Nevertheless, I love Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy is akin to rainbow-dyed bran flakes...

If this is full blown Wii title I could be on board. I just recently got into Fire Emblem and turn base strategy in general, so now I could go for a DQ one. If it was a Wii MMO thats a whole other story. Dragon Quest Wars Online would be huge news and I'd definitely check it out.

Sign me up. I hope they make another Dragon Quest Heroes Rocket Slime. That was fun! Not the best game, but it had humor and awesome gameplay.

@havokmaster ROM stands for read only memory and semiconductor ROM is a cartridge ie ds

I like the way they said "optical discs, magnetic discs and semiconductor ROMs". An indication that it may be a downloadable game or a disk/ROM game?. I can see it being a FF Tactics-like game, with crossplay between DS and Wii, similar to FFCC: Echoes Of Time.

One of the only good games coming to the WII-DragonQuest X.

Along as it doesn't somehow delay the development of Dragon Quest X, I'll look forward to it.

beny_pimpster: FM5 is allready on PS2 (but only in japanese), its a greate game and i hope they made another one on next gen consoles (i like PS3 more, but i dont mind if it is multiplatform if it still goes to PS3). About this. I hope they dont get enoug money for the DQ games, so they see that they need to do them on next gen consoles 2, not only on DS or Wii. I really like DQ games and i want to play them, but i will not buy a Wii/DS becose of it.

DQ.... I wish they would come up with something new! I like DQ... but sooo many of them... kinda like the FFVII spin-offs - would have been much better if they just remade FFVII or just worked on an entirely original game.

what a waste on the wii, square enix needs to get in gear; on the xbox 360 its released several lackluster titles - like Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery; nothing on the PS3 square enix will not always get the loves its getting if it keeps on doing stuff like this; not to mention i have my reservation about ff13

@zinoalex what r u saying that the companys name before was just square? it was square soft, and there was enix. Theres really no information about this game to speculate on at all besides a name... which would make u think square enix eidos is making a turn based strat or a real time strat/action game.

There better be a PS3 Dragon Quest sometime soon otherwise Square is a putz.

If you write Dragon Quest on it, then its going to sell, and I wish they'd hurry up and announce what its going to be on.

The fact that is is Dragon Quest and will have more of an Enix flavor than a Square(remember the days before SquareSoft--they were just called Square) is good news.Diversity, even among two legendary developers is good.Details or not I already want it. And DQ 9 and 10!

I sure hope it will be on the DS with special DSi features and I'm quite sure it will since Iwata made it clear that DSi specific games would be the focus of this years E3.
