360 is getting Lost Odyssey, which the new trailers are begining to impress me much more than FF13 or Last Remnant. You fanboys laughing at the 360, are you enjoying all the horrible games that PS3 has out now? Oh yeah, they have zero good ones. PS3 has alot of good titles coming out, and they will more-than-likely win the console war, and I will get all those games as well, but come on. In all honesty, PS3 has NOTHING compared to what 360 has. And personally, I don't think Sony has managed to ever make a shooter as good as Microsoft has been able to pull out. I really doubt Killzone 2 will be anything special....Microsoft shines in racing and shooters....Sony shines in RPG's and Adventure. I'd love to know when you people are going to grow up and realize that you are all somewhat wrong about wha you state.
The party rolls on and winds down as the role-playing game publisher's latest fan festival draws to a close.
MAKUHARI--The second day of Square Enix's 2007 party moved right along with an even greater throng of people hitting the Makuhari Messe convention center on the fan fest's second day. Fans who attended the first day of the show returned to take in more stage shows, work on their stamp rally booklet, and queue up for the closed mega theater screening of trailers, to name just a few of the day's popular activities. The fact that it was Mother's Day didn't seem to slow down the crowds; in fact, it looked like many a mom wound up coming along to partake in the party.
The goods area was hit pretty hard today, with the massive line to get in and shop stretching into a serpentine collection of people that translated into a two-hour wait. We finally braved the throngs and had a look around the goods area, which displayed the 111 items that attendees could buy. Besides appearing in picture form on a wall in the area, the items were also housed in glass cases. The purchasable items shared space in the cases with prototype figures in varying states of completion.
Among the prototypes on display, a few items had their own mini-throngs as fans crowded to take pictures of massive figures of Cloud and Sephiroth from Advent Children. Among the figures' attention-getting details were hand-stitched leather clothing and an armored Ivalice judge. Other points of interest for fans included a slick Valkyrie Profile statue, new Final Fantasy VII figures, and miniature figures based on the character designs in Itadaki Street and the Final Fantasy III remake for the DS.
One interesting bit of news we heard from Square reps on hand is that Square Enix US intends to open an online store that will sell a number of the goods seen at the event and on sale in Japan now. The store, which is intended to open sometime in June, will also feature some exclusive items that fans will only be able to buy online.
As far as the stage presentations of the day went, the Final Fantasy XI show held a few competitions for fans while the open mega theater featured presentations on Dragon Quest Swords, Draqon Quest Monsters: Joker, and a session with anime and manga voice actors. In between proper stage events, a looping collection of trailers kept the fans informed of titles on the horizon, including the sure-to-be-epic Dragon Quest IX.
Much like the day before, the masses trickled out slowly when the show's 5 p.m. closing time came around. As the strains of "Auld Lang Syne" not so subtly blared from the convention center's PA system offering a hint that folks needed to clear out, some of the more enthusiastic attendees sped off to wrap up their time. Some rushed to get that last picture of the slick stained-glass window in the Crystal Chronicles booth, others made a beeline for the Cloud and Sephiroth figures in the goods area, while a hefty chunk congregated on the life-size judge character out in front of the FFXII International booth.
From the looks of things, this year's Square Enix Party seemed to be on par with the one held in 2004. In fact, from a polish standpoint, the event ran much more smoothly than the first, offering fans plenty to do and see. The publisher may be ready to bump the party up to an annual event, but it made no announcements Sunday as to when the next Square Enix Party would be.
first of all... i'd like to put my 2 cents in about the ps3 vs. Xbox360, ps3 'ill come out on top, unless halo3 just dominates or somethin, next FF13 is only ps3, and last... XCapcomX... ur right Star Ocean is ridiculously good, way underrated imo. psp...cant wait...and another thing....god i hope they remake ff7 for the ps3
I think that square will turn their backs fully on the ps3...only because its sadly failing and will fail.
@Cloud737 The guy in the link that posted that info sounded REALLY biased against FF. Is it even possible that he's telling ANY truth about Crisis Core? Sorry if this sounds like an interview, but I just gotta know if your source is reliable. (dang, this DOES sound like an interview).
It sure was the right time for a party, so much square stuff coming out. I personally would not mind a trip to Japan.
wow the hating is crazy on this thread.. anywho, anyone who wrote a longass paragraph and ended it with a very cheese sentence, you fail at life >
Yo at least 360 ain't diein like PS3. Sony need better games, and the upcoming ones seem good but they haven't came out yet. So your gettin on xbox because of shooter what does ps3 have? Sports, racing, Shooters, what else some other stuff but thats all. And most of the games they have are coming to 360 or were on the 360 first so don't hate on Xbox because they doin they thang. Sony need to step they game up.(im not a hater just sayin)
ahh but 360 has great games! i mean it has shooters! (LOL) like every other console does'nt. 360 has shooters! even its future titles! look to the future oh fans of the so-called great 360! LOL. you have more shooters to look foward to. oh let's not forget remnant (no pun intended) from square's back pocket, or blue dragon ( which is selling decently). and.....er......platformers? new gen blinx? LOL! or wait....and artistic unique game.........like that pinata title? LOL. oh well it's good to have a 360. you always get games that end up being given to pc later. or come from pc.
When can 360 get a nice RPG like FFXII or VII or any FF game besides FFXI. So far I only see FFXI, PSU, and oblivion, and none of these are great. I mean I like FFXI however it is online only and I have to pay $12.95 to play it plus the monthly fee to the MS. Blue Dragon? it's out in Japan already and we won't get it tilll aug(if it didn't get push back again)to me it's more for the younger or female gamers. Come on MS! how long do I have to wait to play a nice and decent RPG? I mean RPG not ACTION-RPG or SHOOTER RPG **********
And jamalnos, what if I don't want those things? PS3=I'm stuck paying a higher price for stuff I don't want.
Figures of Cloud i like it. !! Why we not think about FF VIII remake huh? I would like to be Squall again. Ha Ha.!! PLEASE SQUARE ENIX Y_Y !!!
@StanleyL My bad, I meant Before Crisis coming to PSP (again, look at 14). You know, the mobile FF7 prequel game available only for the DoCoMo in Japan until now. I haven`t seen GS commenting about this (yes, I read all the Square Enix Party news), and this is something big, even if just a rumor (highly improbable).
Guys, please wake up and know the truth, Xbox 360 machine is less price than PS3, that is true but why? I will tell you. With Xbox 360 If you want to communicate by wireless you must buy it separately, if you want to attach removable memories cards or flashes you must buy another part separately, if you want to see HD movies you must buy another part separately, if you want to save game progress or any other files you must buy a HDD separately, beside no HDMI port yet, and that huge power adapter (where will you put it?). At the end your Xbox 360 will be like a spider web with the devices attached into it . Finally all of that will be the same price of PS3 or more. But in the PS3 side, all of that is built-in inside it. With Blu ray technology, HDMI technology, 1080p technology, CELL Processor (Parallel Power) technology, PS & PS2 emulation power, user friendly interface and that sexy design. So what is the mistake that Sony did? This is Living, this is Entertainment.
If Sony manages to keep FFXIII as an exclusive, they still got my purchase... That is, when the game comes out... IN ENGLISH...
Oh wait, if I add the context, it makes more sense. He says "In fact, from a polish standpoint, the event ran much more smoothly than the first" Therefore, I think he is saying that from his polish standpoint, not theirs. He is of course now saying that he, the author, is polish and not Square Enix. I love Poland!
GtheMVP, You need to wake up. The PS3 is finally hitting it's stride and selling very well. It only took 6 months for gamers to realize that the 360 does not compare to the might that the PS3 has coming out. Better late than never. WELCOME TO THE NEXT GEN......PS3!!!!!!>>>>> How come everytime I walk into the stores there are ps3's lying around everywhere collecting dust?
Junsei Final Fantasy IV remake. it only takes a matter of time when they remake final fantasy 7 for the ds instead of the ps3. .................................................................................................................................. wouldn't that be more of a port than a remake and then would take multiple cartridges and they wouldn't be able to make much if any improvements
I've ALWAYS wanted to play FFVII in some form (I tried playing FF 1 and 2 for GBA and that didnt really work for some reason, i just couldnt focus when i played it) but i really want to play this game that has a massive following, and im just glad that i might be able to with my PSP (the only reason ive held on to my PSP this long)
Final Fantasy IV remake. it only takes a matter of time when they remake final fantasy 7 for the ds instead of the ps3.
@ Cruven: Actually, it's usually a regional special remake version of a game that stays in Japan or the very old Squaresoft games. Nowadays, most of them have versions outside Japan.
Well, it looks like I should start saving money now, since there are a lot of games that I want to get by Square Enix.
funny how alot of the things they showed will remain in japan and never get over here and if it was imported youd have to get a mod chip. the two examples im talking about is the New FF12 and the Super Smash brothers final fantasy thing they talked about
"codepunk: why does he say "from a polish standpoint"...I thought they were Japanese?!?" It's "polish" as polishing, neat, clear, focused.
damn you people act like if you own a 360 you have no right to defend the console, since you people talk so highly of the ps3 and down to the 360 yet you dont have anything to back it up with.
Im going to ignore everyone elses comments. This party revealed alot of good things for square enix and gaming in the near future. Its got me a little excited for later this year and next.
I didn't want to get into this, but some of you leave me no choice..... WHO THE HELL CARES ABOUT HOW GREAT YOU THINK THE PS3 IS GOING TO BE? This is about SquareEnix, that's it. The fact that you are putting all of your hopes and dreams on 3rd party games should tell you that you need your head examined. That's why you started a petition to Capcom so they wouldn't release DMC4 on the 360. (yeah, like they were going to listen to you!) The more you complain about stupid things like this, the more you show that you aren't that sure about your $600 purchase. You don't hear PSP fans crying about the DS getting all of the classics remade. What, you thought that FFXI for the 360 was an accident? SE is a company that makes games for profit, not Sony.
The problem would be the 360 people; go to Halo 3 article and you don't hear much from the PS people. But here, 360 people keeps coming arrogantly showing off like the one below me.
even when the ps3 finally gets some decent games out later this year the 360 will also be unleashing some huge titles that will be enough to rule out finaly fantasy and metal gear.
THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO BS ABOUT WHICH CONSOLE IS BETTER!!!!!!! OMG people be civilized... if you are arguing over ps3 v. 360 on the square-enix party news area, you must be pretty insane or pretty desperate... BTW hats off to square-enix for what looks like a job well done... awesome games coming out!! I hope that tactics A2 isn't as EASY as tactics advance... cause it was fun but I dont think that after the 1st 10 hours I could have died, ever :-P
