@misterfuzzykins Kingdom Hearts 3 IS one of the best games ever. I will sell my body to get that damn game. Lol!
Publisher's over-the-top run-and-gun third-person shooter arriving next year exclusively on the Xbox 360.
Next month, Square Enix will at last have its third-person shooter revamp of the Front Mission mech franchise ready to roll out, having delayed the title a handful of times. However, that won't be the end of the Japanese publisher's third-person shooter ambitions. Today, Square Enix announced it would be bringing an "all-new approach" to the genre with Gun Loco, a frenetic future combat shooter that is slated to arrive exclusively for the Xbox 360 in 2011.
Gun Loco offers a sci-fi take on the Australian outback story, in which the universe's most off-kilter lunatics and criminals are shipped off to a remote prison colony. Unbound and ungoverned, the cons engage in brutal gang warfare as they vie for survival and ultimate power over the planet. The conflict plays out across a variety of climate zones and locales, and players will also find themselves thrashing fellow criminals amongst the ruins of the planet's fallen civilizations.
Square Enix has described Gun Loco's gameplay as falling within a "sprint-action shooter format," in which players take on a variety of different roles. The publisher also noted that it would be offering a fresh take on established run-and-gun shooter gameplay, as players will be challenged with acrobatically surmounting the environment as they chase down their marks. Gun Loco will also feature 12-player online matches across a variety of different modes.
Notably, the game features a stylized aesthetic, with character models inspired by toy maker Kenny Wong. The Hong Kong-based designer is responsible for the Brotherswork series of collectible action figures.
@anti-altair16 aha yes I agree completely! kingdom hearts is one of my favourite RPG's; actually no, one of my favourite GAMES of all time. They need to get on releasing that.
@misterfuzzykins They really do need to stick to JRPG's though. RPG's are the best! Actually, they need to announce KH3 already. I'm dying over here!
@Ice_man_1985 Im hardly a gringo im originally from Spain, ya it does seem a little off to me the title should be in spanish if you ask me. But its completely up to Square Enix what they want to call this game. Either way I havent played a square game in years (last one was Chrono Trigger on the Snes. recently rebought it on the DS).
@anti-altair16 oh man how did I miss that! WELL THEN scratch that aha but I still think Square needs to focus on JRPG's; it's what they do the best!
seems to me this game is already driving cows loco:P all they have to do is give in and buy another good system...
It's awesome that this game is coming out! I seriously just woke up this morning and said to myself "self, you know what the 360 needs? An exclusive shooter! We don't get many of those". (I'm being sarcastic btw)
Hopefully this will have some fresh ideas rather than Square just trotting out the same tired dross we see with every Final Fantasy title.
Its actually called Guns Loco? O_O Hurry up and make final fantasy 13 versus and get back your self esteem. Believe it or not Final Fantasy 13 wasnt as successful in overall compared to its little siblings.
@Arkady_16 - of course i know this word gringo , but still, the title is stupid, i wouldn't be surprised if the game didn't sell well. the title is the most important thing to start with, it's the face of the game. try to say gun loco a couple of times, does it feel right to you? hell no please admit that SE are actually losing it all, i swear the only decent games they brought us was FFVII and FFVIII, believe me the only games that would make SE go up is a new parasite eve, FFVII remake, new chrono cross game, bushido blade, and that is all.
I don't mind this, I like how Square is reaching out to western audiences, but I miss the old RPGs with world maps, memorable characters, and a mind-blowing storyline.
Im actually glad somebody brought this up, where is FF13 Versus, that a game some people actually have interest to play. But o, we get news of gun loco, wow.
This game needs to have interesting stuff that's different then regular shooters, it is square enix were taking about after all, its gonna take more than just a rabbit protagonist to get me sold
Man, people need to stop being so sensitive.... the game is coming, like it or not. Just accept that money needs to be made in new ways by all. the hardcore have been dubbed as shooter fans by idiots, when thats not even the case. Anyway, wait to play the same ol' saga of final fantasy 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20!
In another word they are coming up with Just Cause 2 but with some (aerobatic) annoyances?. I want some new game style of GTA, and more bloody and less redundant . Just Cause 2 was good, but I think it quickly becomes redundant .
What are you guys talking about? Square-Enix is great at shooters! Remember the cult gem Einhander for the PlayStation? Okay so maybe that was Squaresoft at the time, but still!
I don't think Square Enix is gonna go bankrupt any time soon. They have the FF7 remake in their back pockets and they know it. And I don't know why people say that they can't make good shooters. I really enjoyed Project Slypheed on the PSOne :P
Gawd SquareEnix .. Leave your shooters and others to EIDOS while you guys just focus on your JRPGS .
Square...please don't. Some of us love you and all, but your main gift (sorta) is JRPGs. Your recent stops in other genres have ended in complete disasters. Thexder Neo, Nier, that one top-down shooter you did all sucked. Badly. Just stop before you get yourself bankrupt!
Well this kinda sounds like "The Club". And if anyone heard of that, then you don't want this game to be anything like it.
Hitman is a no brainer, but this retarded company seems to push out every form of game but that. Let's buy a company, and then refuse to develop it's most successful franchise. Now that's business 101.
well since enix and edios are one now i would like to see a visually revamped (bad pun) Legacy of Kain continuation.
As crazy as this trailer looks, it'll probably be a game that's beaten in less than 5 hours but built heavily on multiplayer customization. Very good chance I will pass on this one.
Squarenix is continuing its descent; first it starts rereleasing the same games, like ff 4, 5 or 6 different times; it ignores games people want like a ff7 remake or a new chrono game; buys eidos, and now this. Thank God there are still companies like Atlus, NIS, and the newer Gust/Idea Factory.
I watched the trailer and this game reminds me a lot of The Club, and Square Enix should know better than to make a full priced $60 retail game that's nothing more than a combat arena multiplayer title. I actually liked The Club, but I picked it up out of the bargain bin, it probably could have done much better being a $10 or $15 (max) XBLA title, Sega could have seen entirely different reception for The Club by doing so, and I feel people will say the same for this title if it tries releasing at retail instead of through XBLA.
Wait wait wait... So they have Fear Effect, Parasite Eve, Bushido Blade, and Fighting Force, and you create this bull crap? I miss the days of my PSone.
