i wonder when that Kingdom Hearts sequel will be out? I hope they dont add a stupid subtitle but just call it Kingdom Hearts 2 :P
Tetsuya Nomura comments on the current possibility of sequels for two of the company's high-profile RPGS.
In the latest issue of Dorimaga, Square Enix designer Tetsuya Nomura--known as the character designer for past Final Fantasy titles and Kingdom Hearts--made a number of comments regarding possibilities of sequels.
On the issue of a Kingdom Hearts sequel, Nomura stated that he would like to clarify that a sequel has not been officially announced at the current time. Nomura said that although he hopes that the title will be developed, Square Enix and Disney have not made any agreements yet. However, Nomura hinted that the possibilities are good, saying that there were already some talks with Disney about making a sequel while Kingdom Hearts was in production.
On the possibility of a Final Fantasy VII-2, Nomura said that the chances of it happening are unrealistic. Nomura explained that Final Fantasy X-2 was able to be released since it utilized the Final Fantasy X engine, allowing production of the game in one year at only half the usual development scale of a Final Fantasy title. However, to make Final Fantasy VII-2, everything would most likely have to be created again from scratch since the data from the original Final Fantasy VII cannot be used. Thus, producing a Final Fantasy VII-2 would require the development scale of a normal Final Fantasy title.
Square Enix doesn't make their own engines anymore, they use third party systems now. I suspect that this will make sequals easier.
The comments that Tetsuya Nomura made are total bs. I don't think anyone would mind if they used the Final Fantasy X engine to do the remake. Looked pretty good to me. Also I agree with THUNDERBUCKUS. If they put the technology into making a FFVII remake then they could use the same tech to make FFVII-2 as well. Oops there I go making sense again. Sorry about that.
because final fantasy VII is two generations of gaming old. There's still the "confirmed" release of the tech update of the original, but they've said that since the PS3 came out. Let's face it, Dirge of Cerberus was a huge disappointment and a disgrace, and a sequel would ruin it even more. The tech updated version will probably never come out, but who really cares? if you have a ps2 or ps3 you can enjoy the original in the way it was meant to be. it may look "crappy" but if you say that, you are demanding too much out of an almost 11 year old game. For it's time it was pretty amazing, and it still is.
everything would most likely have to be created again from scratch since the data from the original Final Fantasy VII cannot be used. WHY?
I love FFVII it's my all time favorite game. My biggest issue is that if they do remake it they could make unnecessary changes, like dramatically changing the battle scheme to something more difficult or just plain stupid. so if they are/do make a remake i just hope they don't screw it up.
I think they should re-make it as well but on a system that is a little cheaper than the ps3, like ps2 or the 360 but defintely not the wii but it might make a good experience with the motion controlled controls. (ex. swing the wii mote to slash etc.)
Their has to be another installment or the FInal Fantasy Universe is broken. Im not going to say any spoilers but Just look at Dirge of Cerebus real ending
Well, I wouldn't be surprised if SE were to use the White-Engine that they're dev'ing right now alongside FFXIII's, to remake FFVII with.
Well that's just a rotten teaser if they don't plan on making another Final Fantasy 7. So what if it takes a long time, as well as the first one did I'm sure it would be well worth the effort. It'd be absolutley awesome to play the whole game over agian with today's technology!!
I like looking at hundreds of polygons, especially beautifully rendered ones. Wait, if they wouldn't use polygons, what would be the alternative? Pixels? Don't get me wrong, pixels are fine, but on like the PS3? The whole reason that system was created was to be a powerhouse in the graphics department (along with being a George Foreman grill with a Cell chip processor, never mind the fact that Microsoft and Nintendo were going to release a next-gen system soon/did already).
Nope, it was a small piece of FFVII just for show on the PS3 to show how good it WOULD look, but they might actually make the whole thing since it did, and everyone knows hundreds of polygons isn't fun to look at.
I wld love to see a remake of FF VII on any console (i don't really care) because this game was almost perfect. Just change the graphics to nxt gen graphics that'll make it perfect :)
I agree. They should remake Final Fantays VII on the PS3, and THEN they can make a FFVII-2 easier. Eh? That would be amazing.
It's too bad. I hope they realize that all Final Fantasy fans want a remake or sequel of Final Fantasy VII. My personal opinion is that they should remake the game onto the PS3.
