Spectrobes goes Beyond the Portals
Sequel to Disney's space-faring action RPG will support community-oriented DGamer and is slated to arrive this fall for the Nintendo DS.
When Disney first gave gamers a look at its social networking service DGamer for the Nintendo DS at last year's E3 Media and Business Summit, the House of Mouse said one of the first titles to implement the new technology would be Spectrobes II, due out sometime this year. Today, Disney officially announced the next installment in the scavenger-esque action role-playing game, saying Spectrobes: Beyond the Portals is currently slated to arrive for the DS this fall.
Beyond the Portals is a direct continuation of Disney's 2007 best-seller, and picks up again with intergalactic patrol officers Rallen and Jeena policing the universe with help from once-fossilized, now-reawakened creatures known as Spectrobes. This time out, players will be able to assume the role of both Rallen and Jeena, and puzzles that require her skills will play a more prominent role in the game.
Again developed by Jupiter, Disney is promising a number of new features for Beyond the Portals, including a 3D perspective, revamped fossil excavation and battle mechanics, additional creatures, and an online battling mode made possible by way of the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. As mentioned, the game will also implement Disney's DGamer online community hub.
According to today's announcement, Beyond the Portals will act as a launching point for Disney to "expand the series in the coming years."
The original was easy!! I'm for hoping this will be more challenging! Can't wait =]
the original game was so friggin hard hopefully this will be a better experience
The original was nice, and this one should be better w/ new creatures and Wi-Fi.
Man what won't Disney try to capitilze on? Just stick to the kiddie movies champs!
The previous Spectrobes game was good, except for the fact that you had to scream in the mic and running all over the green earth to dig for spectrobes disappointed me. I first bought this game with high hopes and ended up returning it 3 weeks later. I might read the reviews before I consider this game
I won the game from Nintendo, so I don't find it too depressing that I didn't finish it. It was an alright title, considering it was from Disney.
For DS? No thanks.
Came into link expecting cake-related portals. Is not pleased.
......yeah....not interested Disney...
Again, it was a crap title from Disney, and it proabley won't satisfy alot of people.
Nice ideas..Like the whole card thing that allowed you to make a new monsters by pressing certain points on the touch screen. However...Funny how the game was fun at first but quickly became extremely dull. After dealing with one fossil, I found myself doing the same things over and over until the game became a trade in. I don't think I'll be trusting the second try...Unless a review sways me to at least try it.
I have to disagree with nintendoboy16. Spectrobes is most definitely not the worst game for the DS. It wasn't superb or anything but I was able to enjoy myself enough to validate buying the game.
I look foward to it.
I liked the original Spectrobes. I think it had some good ideas. Will be nice to see a new one, hopefully with better graphics.
Cool,I can't wait till it hit stores near me.
NO! Why a sequel? The original Spectrobes was one of the worst DS games out there.
