Sound Byte: Meet the Composers - Akira Yamaoka and Tenpei Sato
We made our way across the Pacific to meet with Silent Hill series composer Yamaoka and Disgaea series composer Sato.
It has been a couple of weeks since my last update, but that's because the GameSpot crew was busy in Tokyo to bring you all the latest and greatest coverage from the Tokyo Game Show. While we were there, we met with Akira Yamaoka, known for his work on the Silent Hill series and now working with Suda 51 at Grasshopper Manufacture. At its Tokyo Showcase, EA announced Shadows of the Damned, a new psychological action game from the minds of Suda 51 and Resident Evil designer Shinji Mikami.
Nippon Ichi Software had an announcement of its own during the show. The company announced Disgaea 4, another PlayStation 3 title that will launch in Japan in February of next year. The tactical role-playing game series is known for its quirky storytelling and explosive Prinnies. We caught up with series composer Tenpei Sato, right before he had to run off and take part in Nippon Ichi's press conference.
Enjoy the video interviews of Akira Yamaoka and Tenpei Sato below!
Sound Byte is GameSpot's game music blog, which covers every aspect of music in games, including interviews with top game music composers and discussion of new and classic game soundtracks. The blog is usually updated on Fridays but things might happen mid-week too. Check the site next week for two new updates, one for Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and Rock Band 3!
