Sound Byte: Inon Zur on the music of Dragon Age II
See what Inon Zur has to say about the highly anticipated sequel, download a free track from the album, and more!
The first time Inon Zur came by our office to sit down for an interview, he had Dragon Age: Origins, Fallout 3 and Prince of Persia under his belt. Now, just a year later, he has just wrapped up Dragon Age II and is busy with projects that he can't talk about yet (part of the joy of working in games.) However, I did get to ask him what it was like composing the score to Dragon Age II and find out how he approaches his work in this comprehensive video interview below.
For all of you dedicated Sound Byte readers, GameSpot is providing a free MP3 from the Dragon Age II soundtrack just for you! You can listen to the beating drums of "Qunari on the Rise" right here, and it's yours.
Sound Byte will be hosting its first giveaway! To enter, all you need to do is sign on to Twitter and follow @gs_soundbyte and the instructions will be there. Everyone who follows the account (and tweets) from now until the next post will be entered in a drawing to win a promotional copy of the Dragon Age II soundtrack. Good luck!

The guy is just amazing, loved his work on Dragon age
That man is a flippin' genius.
The music is amazing.. I totally noticed the middle eastern hints of it here and there.. very exotic sounding.
Excellent interview. Thank you very much! And thank you Inon for the wonderful music that brings so many worlds to life.
Great interview with great music! Thanks Sophia!
@Sophia Great interview and very informative, these were great questions to ask because he really gave a lot of detail into music making. His previous interviews seemed to hold back a bit more, but whatever you asked him this time around was just a wealth of wonderful information. Excellent, excellent job on this interview.
I liked his work for Throne of Bhaal. Really epic music that fit the theme of the game.
@Spybreak - Sorry about the mixup, video is being fixed.
Wtf, I'm interested in this interview as I'm enjoying the soundtrack right now, one of my pre-order bonuses, but instead I get a video with Curt Schilling taking about a fantasy Open World RPG?!
musicians are the smartest people in the world. this guy is a fking genius. so concise with explaining too
Great stuff, the music is great
I just picked up DOA2 so can't wait to get home from work and play it. DOA had such a "haunting" soundtrack. A good soundtrack can make a game that much better.
Awesome interview as always, keep 'em coming Sophia! (I would love see John Guscott from de Blob talking...)
Now thats some good music!
Thanks Sophia! That music is great. I love this section of GS. The music part of games gets taken for granted so much. I think the next one you do should be with Jeremy Soule. he has Guild Wars 2 and Skyrim coming out and both soundtracks are sounding mazing so far from what I have heard of them.
@QBALL218 Enya ROCKS!
Why no Enya mention her music is perfect for dragon age.
