Want to try before you buy? Come check out tunes from Fable, Gears of War, Halo, and more in this video game music sampler.
Not a big update from me today, but I did want to share with you this link, where you can download tunes from some of your favorite games. (Sorry, you have to be in the US and you also need to sign up to download, but hey, it's free!) If you like, you can also purchase the soundtracks from the site (there's a sale), so start clicking! Did you know Danny Elfman worked on Fable? You can check out his main theme as well for free along with tracks from Jesper Kyd and Martin O'Donnell.
For past Sound Byte features on Jesper Kyd and Martin O'Donnell, click over their names and it'll take you to their respective interviews. Enjoy! And as always, let me know what you think in the comment section below.
Sound Byte is GameSpot's game music blog, which covers every aspect of music in games, including interviews with top game music composers and discussions of new and classic game soundtracks. I am severely disappointed and frustrated that I can't access this free download merely because I live 25 miles north of the 49th parallel. Yes, I'm Canadian. Apparently free trade doesn't mean equal access. And I can't find anywhere else where I can get this. Any suggestions? Anyone?
Awesome Thanks!!! It would be cool if a soundtrack disc was just included with some games. It's always one of my favorite parts of a collectors edition (when they include it of course) but in general I am supportive of making game music more readily available to those who want to listen theres so much great stuff out there.
Most of these are already available on torrent sites...we buy the game for $60 and they charge us for the soundtrack that's already on the disc? There should be a way to play the soundtrack if you already have the game.
@julianozuca - I asked about this too, but it appears that shockhound, which is Hot Topic's community is a US based retailer only.
I would really like to know why one must live in the US to make a download. If Steam/GOG would act that way they would close ther virtual doors...
@Sophia - It's alright. It's pretty cool for anyone who can download them. I've got enough game soundtracks to keep me busy anyways so it's all good. :)
I was about to say this was awesome as well except for the not being in the US thing. Sigh. Oh well thanks for the post anyway!
This is so great! I've always wanted to have the Mass Effect and Halo soundtracks. Wasn't sure where to get them. I think we should have more access to video game soundtracks. I would love to have the "Lost Odyssey" soundtrack for example. Thanks Sophia.
