Action adventure spin-off of Namco Bandai's fighting series goes gold, arrives exclusively on Wii November 20.
Traditionally squaring combatants off mano-a-mano in the fighting arena, the Soulcalibur series is in for a drastic overhaul with its upcoming Nintendo Wii-exclusive spin-off, Soulcalibur Legends. Today, Namco Bandai announced that development has wrapped on the third-person action-adventure and gamers will be able to get a firsthand look at the changes come November 20.
Soulcalibur Legends is set between the events of the original Soul Blade for the PlayStation and its sequel, Soul Calibur for the Dreamcast. The third-person hack-and-slash action follows knight-in-shining-armor Siegfried as he quests to piece together the Soul Edge, better known as the epic-size sword that he's come to be associated with. Numerous other characters from the franchise turn up in the game, including the sultry dominatrix Ivy and the bushido-blade-wielding Mitsurugi.
As would be expected from a Wii-exclusive title, Soulcalibur Legends will take advantage of the Wii's much-vaunted motion-sensing controls. In addition to a single-player campaign, the game features split-screen co-op and competitive modes. Not abandoning the fighting genre entirely, the game also includes a versus mode.
I think that this is one of those games that is either REALLY bad or REALLY good. i hope for the later. go SC! :P
The sad thing is many retards are commenting about wii not being able to handle sc4. These morons fail to realise that anything is possible, especially when they pump enough cash into development. It basically remains in namcos hands and commitment. Look, i know some of you are legends in your own minds but try to remember the old (very first) gameboy. And remember the cut-down versions of titles that were originally released for home consoles being converted for it. Mortal Kombat was one of these amongst others. Again some were able to do some amazing things with the given limited functionality. Lastly it's all about the installer base. If the machine does extremely well people/companies will find ways to do plenty, and try to go that little bit extra. You understand? By the way wii sports is a load of bo!! in terms of graphics however graphics ain't everything but a eye candy - sometimes good-looking games suck in gameplay, the balance is lost. So master the ability to recognise a good title overall, not just judging on it's graphics.
If you want Soul Calibur 4 so badly, why not get it for Xbox 360 or Playstation 3? I mean, you are allowed to get more than one console. I have a 360 for the graphics, and a Wii for the controls. Anyway, I'm looking forward to this game.
yes... this better be good... alot of developers seem to be testing alot of new ideas on the Wii... and somtimes its not always a good thing... why cant they release this PLUS a new soul calibur?... oh well...
good im hyped for the game. i loved number 2 for my GC, i really hope the motion sensing mkes this a sweet game. another one for the xmas list...
It's sad that so little people care about this game. And about half of those who do are hating on it from the beginning. Then again, Namco also gave us Death by Degrees....
i'm really mad that we're not getting soul calibur 4 but i'm gonna keep an open mind and give this game a chance.
So does anybody really care about the "well we can't actually do the real sequel to this series on the Wii since the tech isn't good enough, so we're making a crappy, poorly made Wii only game" that is Soul Calibur Legends? Have you seen Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles? Give me a break, this is pathetic. *Waits for good third party game that isn't a Gamecube port*
JCDenton , you do know that the wii can use gamecube and has the classic controller. i dont think the wii is powerful enough to run sc4. im sure it could run a stripped down version though as psp did have tekken dr
Gamecube had a SoulCalibur. My guess is that Namco thinks the Wiimote and nunchuk just aren't up for the job of a fast-paced fighting game.
i hate the way the Wii gets stuck with some crappy spin off of a Soul Caliber game, this is more of an insult than a game. All Namco are saying is "No Soul Caliber 4 for the Wii, because it can't take it" It infuriates me that there are no decent fighting games for Wii.
this game looks awesome.....i cant wait..i would say...in top 5 wii titles this Christmas....with super mario galaxy, metroid prime 3, umbrella chronicles, and manhunt 2!
The games sounds alright so far, but I'm a bit skeptical. The graphics aren't as sharp as Soul Calibur 3 (which isn't surprising since it's on the Wii), and the jump from a fighting game to a semi-adventure game is going to be tough to overcome. But whatever, I don't care if it sucks because that means more money in my wallet for a PS3.
This is probably going to be one of those games where the reviews will probably have an effect. If this game gets less than an 8.5 I probably won't get it.
We will see. Personally, I think Lloyd is a stupid addition to the game (I personally thought ToS was rather mediocre), and as others have said, going from a fighting to adventure franchise doesn't happen without a hitch or two. And if this goes to the 360 and/or PS3, then so what? More people can enjoy it. And of course the Xbots will complain that they got a Wii port and it looks like crap and all their usual stuff...
i think i would rather have this than a soul caliber 4 since i own soul caliber 2 still and unless they change a lot of about it which i actually thought 3 was a bit worse than 2 i prolly won't upgrade not enough money to go around to want to upgrade
why couldnt they just give us a toned down version of soul calibur 4 :( us wii owners are missing out again
The biggest draw is Lloyd Irving from TOS, and if the game gets decent reviews, I plan on getting it.
This is basically going to be an adventure game with Soul Calibur characters in it. I'm wondering if any new characters will be in the game. Because this is between Soul Blade and Soul Calibur, does that mean characters from Soul Calibur 3 and Soul Calibur 4 won't be in this game? I'll just wait for Soul Calibur IV for the XBox 360.
 SC Legends was said to be Wii exclusive months ago, comes out this month though? Cool, I pre-ordered it about.....3-4 months ago
looks good, will have to rent to see if it draws me in. and btw, NONE of the consoles are NEXT-GEN, because they are out and available. Next-Gen implies something that isnt available yet, that is on the way. PS3, Wii and XB360 are all current gen systems. PS2, XB and GC are now LAST gen systems. Just thought Id clear that up for ya. ;)
if this game gets good scores, it might pull some more of the so-called hard-core gamers to the wii.
Looks awesome!! Can't wait to get my hands on this one. Wanna check out the gameplay with the Wii's motion.
