Sony launches 3D PS3 games tomorrow

well as long this i can't still play those game on a normal HDTV i'm fine for now. I don't see the need to buy a 3DTV since there isn't enough 3D content out yet to make it worth.

Its funny to hear people complain about 3d gaming before they ever tried it. People are just worried they are not going to be able to stay on the peak of gaming and that they will fall behind. I have a 3D tv and I love it. I Yep, there is not much out there for it yet, but you can bet your buns I will be playing Ghost Recon and Kill zone in 3D while all the haters can make up excuses of not owning one.

@Quietpower09 and actually @everyone stop saying cliche predictable comments just because you think it's cool to complain. its free. thats it. get over yourself. nobody is holding a gun to your head telling you to buy a new TV. I could be wrong, but last time i checked a 3DTV was for uhh...3D TELEVISION. the 3D feature for playstation 3 is different im pretty sure. And stop saying "I D0NT W4NT TO W3AR GOGGLES WTFFF!" no one ever said you'll need to. I'm even almost positive they said you wont need extra gear besides your own eyes.

wish this 3d thing will go away soon. its such a fad like the virtual reality of the 90's... when the batteries on these 3d glasses run out, its over for 3d's...

Personally i dont mind 3d as much as motion controll, i hate that. i mean when i sit down to play a shooter i wanna play a shooter. i dont wanna have to move my hand around or flick a controller to reload or some other gay motion. look at the wii they have barely any good games and the ones that are good dont use the wii motion too much besides for a few attacks. or to aim. idk i hate motion i think it takes away from the experience, i could not imagine trying to play unreal tournament or halo with that LOL be sooo hard. and the 3d is alright but like some have said i dont wanna see every game become 3d just like how movies are doing. some games i can see being very cool in 3d like racing (select racing like split second) or fighting games or even some adventure platforming games but i dont wanna see 3d in shooters or action games like Battlefield or Bayonetta. I mean it might be alright in battlefield seeing a wall get blown up and debree flying around and the one that come your way pop out at you or maybe bullets flying past you. but idk at the same time it can take away the shooter feel that we all love and become corny. i hope they dont make 3d out of hand and everything becomes 3d that will be lame and the end of pure gaming

Sony has always been a very forward thinking company. They were the first console to have DVD support, The only one to support Blu Ray. Now we have HDTVs with 3D capabilities. However, very little in the way of 3D programs and Movies exist. Sony wants to take advantage of this by supplying consumers that are buying those TVs with New 3D content via games. Its pure genius. Many homes are multiple console owners. Sony needs to not only supply exclusive content but give the consumers more reasons to go to the PS3. No one plays games 24/7. We watch Movies, Surf the net, listen music and play games. The PS3 can do all of those things. While the Xbox 360 can't Play HD Blu Ray and Surf the internet. Sony means it when they say it does everything. Now adding 3D game content is just another reason to go to the PS3. Those that already own a PS3 have a reason to go the the Sony Bravia line. Genius!

I don't think 3D is a fad, but it's too early to start switching to 3D stuff. As you can see it, it's expensive thus far. Not everyone will be able to just buy 3DTVs at will. Of course, this can be some sort "transition" into 3D.

It will be interesting to see which 3D setup performs better.... the PS3 with glasses or the 3DS without.

Someone has to be the first to do it. I think we still have some trial and error to sift through before 3D gets Good, letalone worth the cost.

I never heard about these promotion deals PS3 seem to have with Bravia for their HD games. None the less, from your description of them zeke74, im gettin pretty anxious to play one soon :)

3D is a fad? That's what they said about motion controls.

I just played Motorstorm: Pacific Rift in 3D! It's awesome! The sense of you driving across the bridge is great and gives the driver a better feel of how narrow the bridges are. Also neat is when the hanging vines get in your way. The vines comes off the screen and interfere with your driving view. The dirt flying off the screen from your tires is a neat effect too! Way to go Sony keep the 3D coming! It took me awhile to figure out how to get the 3D effect to work with my Samsung 3D TV. For whoever needs to know. You have to go to your Video setting on the PS3 and do a scan of what resolutions are available and it detects the 3D TV. Happy times!

I dont mind 3d only cause the prices of basic LCD & Plasma are dramatically decreasing

i think 3d is a good thing as long as its another option so its there if you want it.

ok....so how are you going to play any good if the only thing your watching out for is a car popping out in your face?

3D is cool but I don't want it to become the future of gaming. I would want only some 3D games while most stay the same.

i agree 3d is just a fad i betcha in a couple of years they will try to do in game virtual world and that would probaby happen because of avatar 2 :P

What took Sony so long. PC had this tech for all games 4 years ago!

@ColinFoy Thanks, I think 3D gaming sounds neat so I can't wait to test this out at Best Buy or somewhere that has this set up, as far as me buying it, well...I can do without for a while until I feel like i'm missing out on something. (I also need allot of money)

3d=fad

I just bought a new 1080p HD TV in the spring of 2008 for $1500 plus tax, and I'm not going to replace it over something like this. I will wait until I'm good and ready, maybe a few more years down the line. That will also give a chance to see if 3D takes off or not.

This is not for the masses yet. If you can't afford it, move along. Wait 3 years before you even read another 3d article. I've played it and it's awesome. I've never seen a gamer sit down and demo the system and walk away saying 'meh'. Everyone is blown away. Bravo to Sony and Directv for bringing us real 3d. The rest of you should focus on yourselves and your career, so you can someday afford new tech.

i thought that the PS3 firmware update was gonna do the 3d not the TV, so i have to get the 3dtvs aswell.????

sory to upset the ps3 fan boy but my sony laptop can beat your ps3 graphics blueray and also has a 8 core pro and its 3d ready just need the monitor

the reason i don't like 3d is that at the moment i think its just to much hassle for something that isn't that impressive maybe in a couple of years when i can get a 3dtv for like 100 pounds i will but not now, and the having to wear glasses thing annoys me to.

If you can't afford the 3D TVs, just go outside and look around. There's your 3D. :D :D :D

For all the people going on about 'ps3 cant do it but a pc can'... Do you have cell procesers in your pc's? The military use these bad boys, they even bought ps3's as they were the best value cells on the market. I hate pc fanboys, even though i love pc gaming.

maybe you guys could think of it this way...uhmmm they are running a test in hopes of making PS4 or x-box 720 all 3D gaming in the future. the crap that doesn't work out now can be corrected in the future gaming systems mentioned above. watdya think??...:)

All the big screen TV manufacturers have been preparing for 3D since 2007-08. Do you think the total conversion to 120Hz or better LCD and LED TVs is merely for smoother refresh cycles? No... the way today's proper stereoscopic 3D works (forget red & blues) requires the software to 'piggyback' either 30, 60, or 120Hz of its own fields strictly for the 3D treatment in the final rendered image on the display. Yes, it does "make you buy a new TV" in a way, but it's a case where the technology can't be executed without the additional Hz/fields and compatibility, and the entire industry standard is shifting to accommodate video enhanced home cinema novelty like 3D. For the PS3's version of 3D, it's ultimately just a very, very clever new video codec being added to the device's firmware that can be called upon by a retrofitted-for-3D game or presumably 3D compatible movies--with Sony enthusiastically shoving the home 3D trend into its film division as we speak. It's here and now, no way around it. And just like recent 3D-treatment films, some games are going to function and affect much better in 3D than others will. Wipeout HD, for example, might verily kick ass in 3D.

what gamespot fails to mention is the drop in resolution that these games will suffer due to the move to 3D. The ps3 nor the 360 has the power to render every frame twice, and since the current consoles cannot even achieve real 1080p on 80% of games this 3d update to ps3 wont have much impact beyond trying to sell a few 3d Bravias for sony. on the other hand Real 3D gaming is possible right now.. on the PC. have fun playing at below 720p http://www.industrygamers.com/news/ps3s-3d-games-requiring-resolution-compromise/

3D isn't a fad or a gimmick, it's a major advancement in technology and one that is not just limited to home entertainment. There sure are a lot of Luddite attitudes out there which is pretty surprising being as we are on a gaming website.

ITS NEVER GOING AWAY!!!!! You expect technology nerds to stop what they are doing and have our society go back to stone age? Get a clue people. We moving forward not backwards. Besides, you don't have to get it if you don't want to. For all you na-say'ers, you can keep the "i don't know what [insert tech here] is, or how to use [insert tech here]" crowd company while the world keeps moving forward.

I really hope this 3D fad goes away quickly. I do not want to play games in 3D, and Avatar was the only movie I've seen that gives 3D its due justice.

TTDog Sony isn't the only ones producing 3D tv's. And major movie productions are taking their strides to introduce 3D to home. 1960's.......bwahahahahahahaha
