i got my 60gb with two games and spiderman 3 on bluray from hmv in late october when i heard they were discontinuing the 60gb for the same price they are quoting here basically means i got a blu ray backwards comp memory card reader and 20gb more hdd for the same price - sony are NOT lowering prices - this is just marketing bs

Well, I guess if someone was going to get a 40GB anyways, this bundle does save some money. But then again, the 80GB would be worth it if the player would do a lot of PS2 BC gaming.

what a rip-off, this was the deal with 60GB version everywhere... how is this a deal? £349.97 u can get this already with two kick ass games, COD4, assasins creed or any other games you desire!! not worth it am not convinced! If the console came with an extra controller, an hdmi lead, and two games... for £300, now thats a deal.. And is sony going to release a new console in the uk/europe? because the 40Gb just does not cut it, wheres the 120GB? or even 180GB? thats what gamers want, 80GB isn't a big enough step up! I really want a ps3, but the console and offers currently available, just dont cut it! my personal message to sony, sort it out... make the sales fair, not different consoles for different regions, not different prices for different regions, there is no reason for this! Why should Japan have the white console? with dualshock 3? and NO ONE else? Why does america have an 80GB ps3 for £250 with motorstorm??? Come on Sony, buck up your ideas!

Price drops on the PS3 are great and all, but I really think Sony should have at least one PS3 with PS2-compatibility in every market on the globe. I still can't understand why the 40 GB models don't have software emulated compability at least. I'm almost inclined to believe that they want gamers to keep purchasing the PS2 console. Two games is a cool addition, but I would think that most PlayStation gamers would still have more PS2 games than PS3 games at this point.

Considering that most shops pack in a free game or 2 already ... and that it's the same price as the Backwards compatible 60gb version was with 2 games AND a second controller this is a big step backwards .. I'm still waiting for a proper price drop to be honest ... either that or some AAA titles ... till either of those things happen you can keep your bundles !

The fact of the matter is, money is worth different amounts, and yours, is worth nothing, meaning you get stuff cheaper. Just because your wages dont match up to the worth of ours doesnt mean balls. Your stuff is cheaper, and Sony is making shedloads of profit by selling this stuff in pounds sterling, while giving us less choice and an inferior product. Nintendo managed to keep things within a reasonable price, why can't Sony? Hmm?

If I was getting paid in Euro's and didn't already own a PS3, I'd be all over that sort of a deal. Save for Genji, Lair (depending on your opinion) and Sing Star (which I know nothing about) that's a really solid list of PS3 exclusives! Uncharted all the way for sure and then anything else on top of that is a quality bonus.

Eventually, I'll own a PS3 and Wii. I'm getting a XBox360 in a month. I'm getting a 360 in Feb. '08 simply because it's cheap ($280) and Wii can't be found. But while I like some 360 exclusives (Mass Effect in particular), I fully acknowledge Microsofts issues: (1) Most quality FPSs from the original XBox DON'T have emulators! (2) Titles like UT3 are being pushed back rediculously (8/2008?)! It's as if Microsoft is trying to nullify any significant competition to Halo. It reaks of cronyism/corporate politics. If kissing up to Bungie is that important, I guess I'll ride it out with 360 until I've got a good bargaining chip towards a PS3.

jesus, by the end of this year, if US economy really take off like many economics predicts, and see double digits growth, Euro-Dollar value will change. Remember, Euro to Dollar used to be 1.2 : 1. If it happens again, will you then complain that US consumers are paying more for the ps3? Will you complain that you are paying the same damn beans imported from USA a lot in England? Conversion rate is floating, and you can't complain about it. Because while you are admiring US customers about paying less for their PS3, you forgot that they are suffering in economy. Would you be happy that one day, US dollar becomes really strong against Euro so that you could pay for a cheaper PS3? Don't forget, when that happens, Europe economy will be down and you might be the next one to lose your job.
