Sonic Heroes Japanese release delayed

By Dan Tochen

Sega Japan says multi-platform game needed additional polish; U.S. release date unaffected, says Sega of America.

TOKYO--Sega's Japanese headquarters announced today that the Japanese release of Sonic Heroes for all three consoles would be postponed from December 18 to December 30.

The company didn't comment on any specific issue that created the delay, merely remarking, "We wanted to be absolutely certain there were no compromises and that we would be satisfied with the quality [of the final release]."

Commenting on the U.S. release date for the title, a Sega of America spokesperson told GameSpot today, "We had planned on a later (January) ship date long ago. The delay announced by Sega Japan will have no impact on the U.S. release."
