How about a new Unreal game? That's what I would like to see, I almost don't care what engine it uses.
City Interactive enters worldwide licensing agreement to use Unreal Engine 3 in new first-person shooter, due out next year.
More than six years after it was first unveiled, Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3 continues to attract new licensees. The latest is City Interactive, as the Polish publisher behind this year's Sniper: Ghost Warrior today announced that it had entered into a worldwide licensing deal for the engine.
City will use Unreal Engine 3 to develop an as-yet-untitled first-person shooter set for release next year. The company should have no shortage of shooters on the way, as it confirmed in October that it will be using Crytek's CryEngine 3 for a pair of multiplatform FPS games to be released "over the next couple of years." The tepidly received Sniper: Ghost Warrior was developed on Techland's Chrome Engine, the same technology behind the Ubisoft-published Call of Juarez and GTI Racing.
Although the pace of high-profile Unreal licensee announcements has slowed in recent years, Epic continues to push the engine. Earlier this year, the company announced it would be bringing Unreal to iPhones and Palm Pre handhelds, and also added support for Nvidia 3D Vision and Valve's Steamworks to the package.
I feel a new engine is due, better AI,better game play, better weapon sound an be more accurate, graphics are ahead, time for the other parts to catch up! As many as sold, price is 2 high for messed up games!
Unreal Engine 3 needs to die. Honestly. Its been almost 5 years and developers are still using this crap? Loading times are terrible, bland graphics, and cheesy physics. Maybe it was good 5 years ago, but they need to advance. Look at Crytek, they're coming out with the best engine I've ever seen (Cry Engine 3). And Valve is probably working on a new Source engine for Half-Life 3 right now. Honestly I've always hated the Unreal Engine. Just let it die.
Sniper ghost warrior was terrible, dont expect anything amazing from them just because they might use cry engine 3. Sniper actually looked ok but the gameplay was terrible. All this company will do is churn out good looking games with no gameplay and terrible AI
These guy make crap games anyway. They're released a horde of trash quality, cookie cutter fps games this year. I kind of had my hopes up for sniper ghost warrior but it turned out to be the same garbage that these guys churn out.
"City will follow up Sniper with shooters built on Unreal and CryEngine tech." Huh? CryEngine? Ok now im listening!:P But really, they should sort out the "gameplay" issues that were in sniper, if all that follows the new ones....they will still suck.
They should let Epic at least help with some core gameplay stuff that needed fixed first, and then make a game similar to Ghost Warrior, but with better AI and insane graphics and realistic gore. because everyone knows that Epic is really good with dismemberment and decaps because of gears. in gears you can blow heads into chunks with the right weapons, and in real life if you shoot someone in the face with a weapon that sniper would use, there head is gonna be left into pieces.
i liked sniper:GW in some ways. the bullet cam showing the bullet shredding the enemy's head was awesome. but AI sucked.
Nice graphics are...well, nice. But from what I've read Sniper: Ghost Warrior's gameplay wasn't so nice. Maybe they should fix that first?
This game was entertaining. The MP was just point and shoot. There weren't any environmental variables in MP that were in SP. I really enjoyed the head shot camera views. I hope there is some improvement with the glitchy game play and AI improvements.
I wrote a review about Sniper: Ghost Warrior because I thought it would be the GOTY of its year, but they seem to forgot what a sniper really is! I'm not talking about graphics or bugs/glitches, I'm talking about a sniper that CAN'T finish a mission without being seen!! This game should be called "Infantryman"! Check my review and you guys will understand my reasons. If City wants to spend money with licenses, buy something that helps them to improve, at least, their AI in games.
Graphics wont help with anything if the core gameplay is done wrong.Lost Planet 2 was an example of that.
The only thing a sniper lacks is the ability to teabag his downed foes.. However he makes up for that with the ability to shoot a man over 1 mile away.. Bad ass.
I agree with BallisstiXXX, the game sucked in every way... I don't think any improved graphics will "save the day". But that's the reality these days, few of them developers actually care for gameplay. "Just give them breathtaking graphics, they will forget about gameplay" :) Greetz...
I try not to judge at all seeing as I have never played the game, but just.. "Sniper: Ghost Warrior", haha. I hope it gets twenty multi-million selling sequels.
