If Dawnguard. or even Hearthfire, don't come to the Ps3 - I would at least enjoy new weapons, armor, spells, and such.
Bethesda says information regarding PS3 and PC launch of first expansion to Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will arrive before the week is out.
The first expansion for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the vampire-themed Dawnguard, launched on June 26 for the Xbox 360. Now that Microsoft's one-month exclusivity is up, when will the content come to the PlayStation 3 and PC? According to Bethesda, eager gamers will learn its arrival date by the end of the week.
The news comes from Bethesda's vice president of PR and marketing Pete Hines, who said over Twitter this morning that "nothing has been said/announced about it. We should have info later this week."
GameSpot's review of the Dawnguard content for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim found the expansion to be an atmospheric and enjoyable return to the frigid lands of Skyrim. For more on the content, check out GameSpot's review and walkthrough of Dawnguard.
There's something behind the scenes preventing this content from being released on the PS3 that we're not being told or probably will never know about. This is absurd!!
u cant really sue cuz they have a dlc out and its gonna be on the ps3 but here is what i think is complete bull, if microsoft had a month exclusive then that means u do not release anything to them until u have the bugs fixed for all systems cuz the way they are doing things microsoft is getting much more then they paid for and thats not right
this is bullshit. something HAS to be released for the PS3, or else Bethesda can be sued. they promised "add on content" on the game packaging. If they put that then don't ever do anything, something will be done. I am NEVER going to purchase another bethesda product again. I have been fucked over by these guys, and I am not getting rid of my PS3.
I love the idea of all of these DLC's out there for all the game system's , but when it comes to game like Skyrim how come Bethesda or other company does not make a DLC were the bugs could be fix ???
I find have absolutely no problem with the fact hat MS grabs hold of DLC exclusivity for a console that runs a very much inferior version of Skyrim. Say what you will about it, if you've got the computer to run Skyrim, then there's no reason to go any other way. So, in a way, I'm entirely OK with giving console users the advantage over DLC when they're getting screwed with a game that has thousands of mods on PC that they'll never get the chance to experience.
Honestly, PC and PS3 undeniably have a wider selection of exclusive GAMES than Xbox, so I can live without some DLC for now. Nonetheless, I still find it sad that M$ thinks these early DLCs give them suppiority over PS3 and PC's exclusive DLC and games. And Bethesda, get your act together.
Absolutely "love" that M$ was supposed to have 1 month of exclusivity but it looks like it's going to actually be quite a bit more than just a month that they get in the end since I doubt this news is going to be that we can expect the DLC next week. The other day the news from Bethesda was we never said that PC and PS3 players would be getting the Dawnguard DLC. Now we get the usual here is a release to let you know that we will soon be making a release with actual information about the product. Just tell me how broken the PS3 version is going to be and your expected release date for the patch needed to make it work like it's supposed to.
@endorbr If anything Bethesda should have given a month exclusivity of the dlc to ps3 owners considering they had to put up with near game-breaking glitches for much longer than a month.
FINALLY I'VE KEPT MY HYPE FOR THIS. I hope in the two month spam they fix the problems. otherwise great news.
God damnit Bethesda, don't make me break into your office building wearing Dohvakin's armor while screaming "Fus-Ro-Dah" while riding a Pepsi cannon and shooting bottles of Pepsi at your workers and computers and mildly annoying your executives by tossing Ring-Dings and Yodels at them while playing strange Polka music from an old stereo that occasionally gets a little staticy.
@UnwantedSpam That was disturbingly detailed. You've been planning this for a while haven't you? ;)
Now that would be one heck of a show. Ride on UnwantedSpam. Ride on and hose them down with pop and make their computers cry with the voice of all Skyrim players that they have screwed with over by them by not providing info as to a release date for other platforms.
@UnwantedSpam I would like to see that. From a distance.
I bought Skyrim for the PS3 when it was released but didn't start playing it until last month. The texture popping and framerate bugs in the PS3 version certainly made the game 100% unplayable. I had learned, though, that they had released a patch in February to fix the dirty code. A lot of people bitched about having to wait 4 months to get it, but that didn't matter to me because I only started playing it recently (they did have the right to complain though). Others complained that the patch didn't do much to fix their experience. I can say, after having thoroughly crushed the game, that the patch worked like a champ and made the game completely enjoyable again, even on the PS3. I know it sucks that Bethesda has made decisions regarding their business model to put preference on the Xbox and make PC and PS3 suffer, but it clearly comes down to Microsoft paying them off for the periodic exclusivity. That can be the only rationale. It can't possibly be any other reason because why would they tarnish the PC fan base (from which the series was born)? I can see the PS3 being on the bottom of the priority list, but the PC? Microsoft had to be paying for exclusivity.
I am not upset about having to wait for Dawnguard for the PS3. As long as it comes, I'm happy. All I care about is that the content is the same as the Xbox and it isn't coded like a bunch of monkeys banging on a keyboard.
@espviper301 It's Bethesda. Of course it will be "coded like a bunch of monkeys banging on a keyboard."
@espviper301 Of course Microsoft is paying for this. I think similar words were used when Microsoft revealed they got a one month exclusivity for all of Skyrim's DLC (back in August 2011).
Most gamers aren't loyal to one platform, so they aren't necessarily screwing over the gamers that made them big. Many of them (myself included) switched from PC to X360. It is just smart business to let a thirdparty pay for the development costs while still being allowed to sell the DLC on all platforms.
Same situation with GTA4. I think this is much less annoying then Sony buying permanent DLC for games like Red Dead Redemption and Assassin's Creed III (granted, Sony only buys the exclusivity for small packs).
@espviper301 Us pc users have mods, so we aren't suffering. I feel for you ps3 guy/gals though you had to wait 4 months for it to be playable, and then an extra month for the dlc. (and any others that may come out.)
Really stupid idea... So they're probably aiming at September/October release? My guess is as good as yours, but anything from the end of September is just bad, especially if you look at the competition.
I could have done with the DLC at the beginning of July, now I'll just wait for Borderlands 2, Assassin's Creed III, Dishonored, Guild Wars 2, Far Cry 3, XCOM:EU and then there's some of the Kickstarter projects that'll release around that time, as well as Baldur's Gate. Other people may also have CoD:BO, DOA5, TTT2, Persona 4:Arena, Resident Evil 6, and a load of others I'm sure I missed on their lists.
So, most people I think will go from "could really do with some new content" to "too flat-ass broke, rather spend money on the new games than DLC for an old one", I know I will.
@Daemoroth September/October based on what?
Oh right, nothing. The fact you are crying so hard about it confirms you will be the first to buy it
@colt_a Erm... Am I missing something? By all means, point out where I was crying.
Also, did I put that down as a rock-solid prediction? I'm almost certain I said something about your guess being as good as mine? And that I think that an end of September release is a bad idea because of everything else being released around that time? Which seems to be a perfectly logical reason for September being bad timing, if that's their intention.
Not because whaaaaaaaaa Beth sucks I want it I want it I want it whaaaaaa....
If it comes out sooner then great, happy days for anyone who's holding out for it, but I'm already pondering whether it would be worth it, since I'll be picking up GW2 in less than a month.
Maybe you should read my post again... Slowly...
i do not care about the 30 day exclusive for xbox360, but what i do care is the bug issues on the ps3, bethesda keep screwing us over and from now on if i buy a bethesda game it will be a second hand copy just so that bethesda does not get my money!!!
this is the only time that beathesda has ever disapointed or upset me.. is with this really odd and late unsure info and such.
"We should have info later this week." Info like: "Not going to happen?"
Seriously though, I have to agree that there might be a chance of Quakcon timing.
PC gaming is the reason Elder Scrolls even exists and yet PC must wait an extra month + for Dawnguard to drop. Bethesda, you make me sad.
I bet they're going to announce it's going to remain a XBox 360 exclusive. If I'm wrong, I'll apologize, but until then...I'm expecting the worst. :(
@DesertLynx83 I assure you that it will 100% arrive to PC and PS3 and will NOT be an xbox 360 exclusive. If it was an exclusive, Pete Hines wouldn't mentioned anything about info for Dawngaurd's PC and PS3 release date this week.
Way to screw over your userbase Bethesda. Not only do you release Skyrim ps3 with a glitch that often made the game almost completely unplayable , but now you're intentionally holding extra content out on them too.
@moviequest14 Should get your facts straight. The only reason they are "holding extra content" is due to a exclusive deal that microsoft offers to most devs. And that is to release extended content, DLC, expansions on the 360 for the first 30 days. Devs get a huge bonus as a result. And then waiting after that 30 days before passing it onto the other platforms to enjoy. Either way bethesda is going to get the content out to everyone. All this means is that microsoft and bethesda will just get money from 360 owners 30 days sooner.
So don't get butthurt you didn't buy a 360 to toss your money at them 30 days sooner. Because I know I don't mind waiting 30 extra days for the content to come to PC owners. Since I know I am in no rush to spend more of my money.
As for the PS3 comment. I have no knowledge of that platform when it comes to ports from Bethesda. As I always go with PC first.
@Wula_ Oh really , I should get *MY* facts straight? The 30 day exclusivity deal has already passed and Bethesda went out of their way to say they never said that it would be released for any other platforms than 360. So perhaps you should get *your* facts straight before running your mouth like that.
@Wula_ Get a clue and get a calendar... It's been 30 days and they haven't even announced it for the PC/PS3 platforms.
If this was about the month of exclusive content, then they would have announced the DLC for XBox to be released on June 26th, with the release to PC/PS3 on July 26/27th to follow.
The problem here is that the 30-day exclusivity has come and gone, and Beth haven't even said a word about the DLC on the other platforms.
Hence the article... Which I suggest you read next time before rushing to the comments.
@moviequest14 Yea thats a major prob with bethes and ps3. all of their games are buggy on that console.
honestly your not really missing anything the missions on the vampire side suck...i havent played as the dawngaurd yet........all you really get is a crossbow and being a vampire lord a new companion serena.......castle volkihar....thats all that stands out to me....not worth 20 bucks in my opinion should have been 10...
