With the mod tools, I'm actually debating to make a King's field mod. First just start by making the famous weapons, then creating a few quests in order to achieve them. Then if I get really into it, I'll keep trying to recreate the 2nd game in the series.
Bethesda Softworks puts a release date on eagerly anticipated mod tools for PC version of its open-ended role-playing game The Elder Scrolls V.
Gamers eager to leave their own mark on Skyrim will be able to do so starting early next week.
Bethesda vice president of PR and marketing Pete Hines today announced via his Twitter account that PC Creation Kit mod tools for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim will be released Tuesday. He also teased that the publisher would have a "special surprise" to go with it, though he gave no indication what it could be.
Designed to support the modding community, the Creation Kit gives gamers access to Bethesda's own development tools to make new Skyrim content. Likewise, Valve's Steam Workshop tool for Skyrim will aid PC gamers in finding and installing community-created game mods.
While the PC Creation Kit will no doubt spur the mod community for Skyrim, the game's do-it-yourself fan base isn't waiting for Bethesda's help in tinkering with the game. Check out the video below for a look at some of the game's earliest fan-made modifications and where to get them.
@reta123 : So in other words....you are saying that if pc's had first party exclusive titles,console-like online services, core focus since pc gaming came in,etc. pc's would be better? That is very logical....and I very much agree with that..but as you see that obviously isn't the case.
@moviequest14 Obviously everyone would choose the games you listed over PC titles. However if all those games you listed were both on PC and consoles, the PC version would be superior hands down. BF3 on PC has vastly superior graphics. Also it is way more stable than consoles. I personally only own BF3 for xbox so i could play with my brother. This is a decision i have regretted since i dropped that $60. Right now in the real world Consoles > PC because of all the time and money companies have invested into it. In my dream world where consoles died out with the N64 and PSone, PCs would be limitless at this point.
@reta123 : Well if you want to compare systems at launch price it is only right...oh wait..no ..you would rather compare the current systems at their most expensive and the pc at its least expensive....seriously...footprints in the snow? Even wii does that.... The things you mentioned are only minor benefits. If offered the choice between Zelda,Uncharted, and Gears of War you honestly think any gamer with half a mind would choose having seasonal foilage and physics-based body-fat? The things you mentioned are nice..but certainly not worth changing systems over.Graphics (both pc and console) don't need to get any better...graphics on games like Crysis 2 and Battlefield 3 are realistic and instead just feel bland and shallow. All of the things you mentioned are nice..but they aren't necessary,or even important, features that make or break a game.I'm not saying I wouldn't enjoy small details, but if given a choice I would rather stick with the excellent exclusive variety of first party titles, specialty online services (Pshome,Virtual Console,etc.),etc.
@moviequest14 When did the 80's come up? We are talking about 2004+ here. Anyways regardless of price, there is no god damn way you can tell me that if PCs were the main developmental focus that games wouldnt be exponentially greater. Take a look at Bethesdas game jam. In 1 week, designing with only PCs in mind, Beths developers created content that wouldnt be possible on this generation of consoles. Stuff like seasonal foliage and better water shaders, HQ texture packs and post processing the ps3 can only dream about. Footprints in snow and a plethora of new mounts. Dungeon enhancements and physics based cloth, trees and body fat. Now if Bethesda spent the last 4 years developing with PCs as the focus, just imagine what that game might have been.
@dawnofhero besides what others have said to you explaining its really not complicated at all...Being able to install the game on the hard drive allows the game to run better than requiring the machine to constantly scan the disk...I have a feeling that next gen consoles might require you to install the game on your console.
@reta123 : It is incredibly easy to make the pc sound cheaper when you compare the modern version which is about as pc's have ever gotten with consoles at their most expensive state. Since we are comparing systems at ''launch'' why don't we bring the pc back to the price it was in the 80's? Around $1,400. Ironically enough buying all 3 consoles at launch would still be cheaper...even at launch..and that is excluding the necessary upgrades that system would need to play most modern games.I could make ANYTHING sound cheap if I compare it,at it's cheapest,to the competition at its most expensive.
@moviequest14 Im talking about when the consoles when they were new which would cost exactly $1334.29. "Leaving $100 for exclusive games?" What games could you get with $100 these days? 1 relatively new, and 1 relatively old. I would probably buy a collection on steam if that was the only money i had.
@dawnofhero Yeah dude, pressing next next next done is so hard to do, and im sure u just saying that couse u cant have any mods and u jelly
@dawnofhero WHAT???? to install from steam it takes, no joke 2 clicks one for download and one to do 1st time start up i'm guessing you have never installed a game before even without steam its the same realy.... also they require a steam account because of piracy, but I don't mind it because if I brake or loose my games steam lets me redownload it for FREE!!!! I broke my MW2 and had to rebuy it for 60$ on xbox but not with steam some people hate steam, I guess i don't mind it.
@dawnofhero Err? Complex install process? Perhaps for a 3 year old, but anyone with the simple knowledge of how to click a mouse can install any game off of Steam. Let me walk you through the process: Step 1: Type in the game you're looking for. Step 2: Click buy game. Step 3: enter credit card info (or just click continue if it's already saved). Step 4: Click install games now. Exactly how is that an overly complicated process? It's pretty obvious you don't even understand the utter basics of computer gaming so I'll let go the comment of ("why not just put the disc in and play?") and not get into the differences in hardware between consoles and PC's. Not to mention on Steam you get a ton of extra things, such as free prizes, and the most ridiculous christmas sales ever (All games were 80-95% off, I bought every Valve game that was on sale, 19 I believe, for about $80).
@dawnofhero The minor inconvenience of having to create a steam account is repayed many times over with being able to use steam community features in game, voice chat, use webbrowser in game. I remember the days of pc gaming where you had to put the disk in to play...haven't used my cd drive in years. Thanks to steam. And the amazing steam sales. Your bashing of steam falls flat
Nothing against PC gamers, but the reasons I don't like PC gaming personally is because of the (usually) complicated install processes and plus PC games these days require you to make accounts on websites just so you can play your game. (i.e. Skyrim PC. You have to make a Steam account and download Skyrim from there even though you have the physical disk, which is dumb in my opinion. Games shouldn't be that complicated. Just stick the disk in and play! Apparently that's too simple for most developers.)
??new vegas runs fine on 360. only grave bug is cards, but you can do without. Been playing Skyrim for weeks now, only problem was a questblock. Cant say for ps3
@antoniobandino After fallout3 and new Vegas (on my Xbox and ps3 respectively) I vowed never to get a Bethesda game on a console their not as pretty, don't run anywhere near as smooth and the bug support/patchs is better (not to mention mods that people made to fix every aspect of the game I mean not being able to name your saves to try and seperate characters so their easier to find?!?! Wtf Bethesda and a 2gig ram cap?!?!?) Ofc the PC version isn't perfect but I've never had what my friend got last Monday on the Xbox where he was fighting a dragon with some guards missed with an arrow and one shoted a guard somehow from that he ended up with a 1000gold bounty in every town but when he tried to enter/get near to pay it off the game crashed out and he had to start again he was not pleased as it was his highest lvl character and had to start again
So will Steam workshop integration come with this update? I assume so since they are adding the ability to upload mods made with the creation kit to Steam workshop. Maybe thats the surprise?
@moviequest14 You do realize you lost the argument long ago with your first comment on this article right? As a PC and console gamer with a long history in both i leave you with that.
@RayvinAzn "If you own a PS3 and are whining about the patch, suck it up. You chose "ease"-of-use over a dedicated community of modders." Yep, buying the game for the one system we own is defaulting on 'ease of use' because we're SO lazy! How dare I not build a gaming rig when I have a current gen system! Especially considering we all knew, full-well that Skyrim was utterly broken before it even came out, right?
@moviequest14 NO alot of pc games start at 50$ not skyrim or other large rpgs but iv baught many pc games that are 50$ new also steam has way beter deals then xbox marketplace or bestbuy I got dead island for 25$ in nov and I got borderlands goty in nov for 5$ no way you can get it that cheap on xbox or bestbuy new I got goty fallout 3 for 10$ and fallout nv for 10$ portal 1 for FREE dead space 1 and 2 for 5$ each you will never get these deals on xbox......
@reta123 : Maybe if you are buying consoles made out of solid gold..Looking at the prices of all of the home consoles of this generation NEW you can get all 3 for roughly $600...meaning you would still have $100 to spend on exclusive titles. There 'could' be a lot of things...but I don't judge systems on the dream state that would be brought about by a ''pc renaissance '' (as if there aren't already enough pc elitists out there).''console games were still ports PC games would look better than real life at this point.'' the fact you just said that is showing so much right now...
@moviequest14 Also your talking about how PC games arent even that much better, well thats because all game developers these days focus to make their games run well on consoles. Then they port the console version to PC. Were it the other way around and PCs got the main focus and console games were still ports PC games would look better than real life at this point.
@moviequest14 To play every game you just listed you would need to own a gamecube, ps3, wii and an xbox. The latter three of these consoles would cost you over 1000$ if youve owned them since they were new. Add in another xbox cause if your a real game it would have RROD'd by now and were lookin at like 1200-1300 dollars to play each of the games you listed. My gaming PC only cost 700$ and could play any game you listed with ease. Hopefully when the next generation of consoles come out everyone realizes how much cheaper PC gaming is and we will have a rebirth of PC gaming.
"Likewise, Valve's Steam Workshop tool for Skyrim will aid PC gamers in finding and installing community-created game mods." I think not, TESnexus has already been doing that since Morrowind. Steam Workshop will be a bust.
If you own a PS3 and are whining about the patch, suck it up. You chose "ease"-of-use over a dedicated community of modders.
@beast70 : Of 2011,not all time. And minecraft isn't pc-exclusive. If this were of all time do you think that those titles I listed would be all? Even in just the past generation we've seen Uncharted 2,Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 ,Infamous , Metroid Other M and prime corruption,Twilight Princess,Ocarina of Time 3d (which ,scoring a 94 on metacritic, only a couple pc exclusive games have passed in all of the pc records of all time on metacritic),New Super Mario Brothers,Little Big Planet, all of the Resistances,Kingdom Hearts (while no exclusive to a particular system are exclusive to consoles in general) , Super Smash Bros. Series, Mariokart , modnation racers , God of War III , Heavy Rain , Killzone 2 and 3 ,MotorStorm ,Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1 and 2,Ratchet and Clank,Sly Cooper,Twisted Metal,Yakuza,Mad World,Donkey Kong Country Returns,Halo 3,Halo 3 : ODST,Halo 4,Halo Wars, Halo Reach..should I keep on or is that enough? It is quite easy to list off titles if you are talking about all time or even this generation...cheaper on average? Perhaps if you buy them used after someone has already copied them onto their harddrive and needs them no more..but in retail they all sell for about the same price.
Okay.. Where is my patch 1.4 for ps3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been waiting for over 2months!!!!
Hmm, I'd declare war on console gamers, but then I'd end up fighting myself, since I have a PS2, a Wii, and an incredible urge to get a PS3. I am mainly a PC gamer, but consoles do have some good games as well. Now that the Mod tools with be out, I really want to get Skyrim. I've been holding out for better modder support.
Been waiting for this, and Tuesday/Wednesday are my days off.... wonder what Ill do on my days offf......
@moviequest14 if your arguing about exclussives it's a know fact pc has the most and alot of them are AAA you list like 3 games you some how forgot alot like: WOW, warcraft, starcraft1 and 2, guil wars 1 and 2, minecraft, diablo 1 and 2(classic), dawn of war 1 and 2, company of heroes, almost 10 commmand and conquers some are on console but they are garbage on consoles,LOTR:BFME,DOTA 1 and 2, nverwinter nights, age of empires, total war, supreme commander 1 and 2, mechwarrior online, the first 3 fallouts i can keep going but my hand is cramping so i'll stop with this. but ya i'm sure all of thoughs are AAA titles.... and what are the highest rated games are we missing out on, MOST are on all platforms. and pc games are cheaper on average
I've been putting off buying Skyrim until the modding community is in full swing. I'm not even going to bother with the vanilla version of the game this time round. also next person who flames PC gaming gets an arrow in the knee
Yay Dragon mounts!!! @SirNormanislost No word yet, but I do remember hearing something about the first DLC addon being exclusive to the Xbox for 30 days before being released on the PC/PS3. IDK if that's still the gameplan though.
@moviequest14 I'll take the mod kit and the literally thousands of free game hours I can get off of that and the community around it over the $60 I would have to spend on the product that there is no guarantee I will like.
@Sgthombre : I'm not saying that pc gaming is absolutely horrible. It is fine if you enjoy it. But even if it were 'superior' in any way except graphics there is no reason to go and post elitist, biased comments on articles where the only relevant topic is the mod-kit being on pc.For the most part pc games (multiplatform) are the same level if not better (graphically) than console games..but pc elitists shouldn't be nearly as cocky/elitist as they are considering they are missing out on,often, some of the highest rated titles of the year.
@The-Longshot You must have been buying garbage cooling systems and graphics cards etc. if you needed to keep upgrading every couple of months. The rig I've been using I bought when BioShock 1 came out, and it runs Skyrim like a charm. Don't listen to console fanboys, people. PC gaming is not as difficult or expensive as people make it out to be.
