Singapore Toy, Game, and Comic Convention this weekend
Asian pop-culture event to be held on August 20 and 21.
Gamers in Singapore, Malaysia, or anywhere across Asia can look forward to the upcoming Singapore Toys, Games, and Comic Convention this weekend. Game-related highlights of the two-day show include an appearance by Kishida Mel, a novel and anime artist who recently contributed artwork for the Atelier role-playing game series on the PS3.
Video game content producer SGFinest will be hosting a Marvel vs. Capcom 3 tournament. The tournament will be held on both August 20 and August 21, with registrations starting at 11 a.m. and the tournament itself starting at noon. Prizes include a Nintendo 3DS, a signed MadCatz Tournament Edition joystick, shirts, and posters.
Shanda Games International will be showing off the online action game Dragon Nest in its booth. Nintendo and Maxsoft will also be hosting a booth to show off recent titles for the Nintendo 3DS like the 3D iteration of Ocarina of Time.
Because the huge focus of the event is still on comics, the non-gaming highlights include the selling of a limited-run Singaporean cover of Captain America #1 by Ed Brubaker and Steve McNiven and spotlights on Marvel and DC guests like Paul Levitz, C.B. Cebulski, and Carlo Pagulayan. GameSpot Asia will also be in the vicinity.
The details of STGCC 2011 are as follows:
Venue: Suntec Convention Centre, Level 4, Halls 401 and 402
Date: August 20 and 21
Time: August 20: 10 a.m. - 8 p.m., August 21: 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Check out GameSpot and GameSpot Asia's Facebook page for our upcoming coverage of the event.
