Shippin' Out: Sept. 13-19: Marvel UA 2, Need for Speed: Shift

Busy week sees Activision's action RPG sequel and EA's arcade-style racer slide into stores with Scribblenauts, NHL games, Wet, PC ports of Batman, Red Faction, Resident Evil 5.
After six straight months of falling sales, analysts expect the gaming industry to start growing again in September. Last week's launch of The Beatles: Rock Band and next week's Halo 3: ODST will go a long way toward realizing those predictions, but this week's glut of high-profile releases is nothing to sneeze at, either.
The two biggest third-party publishers in the world, Activision and EA, both have major multiplatform releases anchoring the retail action for the week. Activision is rolling out its superheroic action role-playing game Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PSP, DS, and PlayStation 2, while EA revamps the Need for Speed franchise of arcade-style racers with the latest installment, Shift, on the 360, PS3, PSP, and PC.
EA also has another of its annualized sports franchises ready to return, as NHL 10 takes the ice with Chicago Blackhawks cover star Patrick Kane on September 15. Last year's installment in the series, NHL 09, was named GameSpot's Best Sports Game of 2008. As has become the ritual, bitter rival 2K Sports will drop the gloves against EA with its own pucks sim, NHL 2K10, fronted by Washington Capitals sensation Alexander Ovechkin.
The third-party publishers aren't the only ones rolling out new offerings this week. Nintendo kicks things off with the Sunday launch of new white and pink models of its camera-equipped DSi, following up on Tuesday with the debut of Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story for the portable. The RPG follows Nintendo's famous pair of plumbers on a journey through the innards of their archenemy.
Lurking behind those heavy hitters are a handful of noteworthy titles, including 5th Cell's DS sandbox puzzler Scribblenauts, Bethesda Softwork's Activision-Vivendi acquisition orphan Wet, and Crave Entertainment's 360 and PS3 versions of Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection. The week will also see Ubisoft take off with the aerial combat game Heroes Over Europe for the Xbox 360 and PS3, and PC gamers will get anticipated ports of Batman: Arkham Asylum, Resident Evil 5, and Red Faction: Guerrilla.

I'm picking up Wet. Looks to be a lot of fun. Panzer General also looks really good, hopefully it's one of the cheaper downloadable games.

Really wants to get Scribblenauts, especially since I've got a long car trip coming up this weekend. But my fiance gets so pissed off when I play my DS while driving, so I dunno...

I would really like to pick up NFS Shift, but don't have the money to do so since I've already picked up Dirt 2 this month.
I wasn't feeling the NHL 10 demo like I did the 09 demo... wonder why? I loathe Activision now so I'll wait on MUA2 till I can get it used. Oh, and ****ING SCRIBBLENAUTS!!!!! Week 1 buy!
NHL 10 and MUA2 are a definate go. Ive been with the NHL series since its debut on the Genesis and MUA was lots of fun on my PS2. I was interested in Wet right up until I played the demo, but I just can't see it having the depth to keep my interest as anything more than a rental. I was rather dissapointed with that demo to be honest and it alone ruled it out as a possible first day buy. Scribblenauts looks sweet but Im too old to own a DS.
I'm picking up MUA2 and Batman: AA tomorrow. I like the look of Wet but I wonder how much game you'll get out of it. May wait till it's half price. Halo: ODST next week baby.

@Chico_Azteca & Nintendo Stop milking the franchise, and the poor children you have straddled since their birth, with your dry simple minded unremade remakes. We get it already, you know how to throw out the same game remade multiple times in multiple genres and sell millions. Ow wait, it's starting to make sense, lol.

With Layton just having come out recently, and now Mario and Luigi AND Scribblenauts...its a good time to own a DS.
The demo of Wet actually made me want that game more than I ever would have imagined. That's some fun Kill Billish gameplay right there. Can't wait to see how the full game plays out...

Only game im getting is Wet.NFS:Shift looks great but the drifting is horrible, my friend has it from a buddy at gamespot. Best to wait for Forza 3 or GT, But NFS:Shift is great aslong as you dont drift lol.
