New releases this week highlighted by EA's shooter reboot, 5th Cell's creative sequel; others hitting shelves include Lucha Libre, Borderlands GOTY.
Last week's new release schedule included postapocalyptic action, basketball, and vampires, but this week focuses on the Afghan War, a little man named Maxwell, and Mexican wrestling.
Leading the pack this week is Electronic Arts' modern-day shooter Medal of Honor. Hitting the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on Tuesday, the title is a reboot of the 11-year-old Medal of Honor franchise. Fans can expect two distinct experiences with Medal of Honor. Its single-player campaign was created using the Unreal 3 engine, and its multiplayer runs on DICE's Frostbite. The title follows a squad of Tier 1 operators throughout combat scenarios abroad.
Also dropping this week is 5th Cell's sequel to the highly praised Scribblenauts. Super Scribblenauts comes exclusively to the Nintendo DS on Tuesday and packs in an element not found in its predecessors: adjectives. Now, with the help of this new ability, players will be able to guide protagonist Maxwell in a variety of new ways. What was once just a baseball can now become a slimy baseball.
For those looking for some mat time, Konami is bringing Lucha Libre: Heroes of the Ring to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this Tuesday. Lucha Libre will feature the league's familiar six-sided ring, as well as a number of international stars, including ex-WCW wrestlers La Parka and Konnan. Other AAA stars that could be included but are not yet confirmed for the game include Octagon, Abismo Negro, Jack Evans, Teddy Hart, and Silver King.
Gamers who have yet to try their hand at Gearbox Software's sci-fi-themed Borderlands, can pick up the Game of the Year Edition this Tuesday on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. The new SKU packs in all previously released downloadable content as well as a token to play the Duke Nukem Forever demo early.
For further details on the week's games, visit GameSpot's New Releases page. The full list of downloadable games on the PlayStation Store, Xbox Live Marketplace, and Wii Shop Channel will be revealed later this week. Release dates are based on retailer listings and are subject to change.

Medal of honor is a great dissapointment , i got the limited edition and to tell you the true this is a bad game,is hard for me to write this 'cause i preordered it and i really was very excited to play it, but after many hours of gameplay and finish the campaign in hard dfificulty two times i really feel bad for wasting my money like this, the graphics are not good, the gameplay feels more like a shooting gallery, you can stand with your M4 and kill your stupid enemies without any effort even in hard difficulty, the history is lame, there are very few weapons, there are many graphic glitches and slow frame rate in many moments of the game this and many others bad points take this game down, and it's quite a shame, i really expect much more from this game, so i tell you guys THIS GAME DOESN'T NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY THIS IS A WELL ADVERTISED PIECE OF CRAP.
MOH wow all i can say is WOOOOW it's a must play for anyone tired of MW2 anyone who's played it can tell you i didn't think it would be this good the campaign is one of the best in modern day FPS I've played
monson21502 Posted Oct 11, 2010 2:33 pm PT "@COPMAN221, would you please stop lieing about getting every single big game early." Why would I have to lie about it monson21502? I am not you. I don't come here to bash said system that I can't afford. If you do not believe then just check my ps3 account ENFORCER266 and look at the date of my first trophy.. For those wondering why I chose the PS3 version over the 360 version, It was because I wanted MOH frontlines which is only included in the PS3 version.. Other than that both are identical to me as I did a side by side comparison with my friends copy..
"@crunchb3rry what did you smoke? price and soap are from modern warfare history, that happens around 2015" I KNOW they are. I'm saying these new characters probably won't be as memorable as Price and Soap. Treyarch has trouble with that, their characters from prior games were very bland in comparison.
The first MoH beta was very disappointing. The latest one earlier this week was of slightly better quality, but it didn't have that final game $60 feel to it. The beta this week should of been the first beta. The latest beta was more of a demo than a beta, and it didn't represent a finished product at all. I think I will hold off on it and see what the reviews are like.
@monson21502 Why would he be lying? I get games early all the time... it isn't hard to find a local "Mom&Pop" type shop that sells the games early, completely ignoring the release date in order to beat out competition and actually sell their few copies.
I would rather get CoD BO over MOH, but the MOH limited edition is tempting! There are other games coming later in the year too! OMG SO HARD TO CHOOSE!!!!!!!
@crunchb3rry what did you smoke? price and soap are from modern warfare history, that happens around 2015 the new cod black ops is set in the cold war, that happened like 50 before the history of modern warfare
@Ozzie234 Are you high? Reealism definitely, but balance? GTFO. But I suppose it is an awesome game but I'd just take CoD due to the fact that it's more fast paced and stuff. I get bored on Battlefield due to the slowness of the guy and the hugeness of the maps. I love the sniping though... and seeing as the 3 quarters of every team ar effing recons, doesn't everyone?
I've been playing Medal of Honor since Friday and although I love the game, it did have a few glitches that forced me to play a level over again or forced me to reload my save. I hope this is addressed with an update when the game is actually released.
lots to want to get this week, Medal of Honor (of course), I might be the only person totally pumped for Just Dance 2, Borderlands GOTY Edition interests me since I didn't bother with any of the DLC yet, and on the download front there's Sonic the Hedgehog: Episode 1, Alan Wake: The Writer, and I might be inclined to want to try Super Scribblenaughts at some point
uh the guy on the front of moh is totally modeled after Dick Marcinko. look it up or just play rogue warrior.
@Lithus Lol. I wish I had a time machine. But no on a serious note Gamestop here release it this morning. Got a text at about 8 last night saying to be there at 10pm to pay and pick up my copy at Midnight. And they actually honored it which was VERY surprisingly. Well worth it though. I loved the COD4 campaign. Was probably one of my favorite. So far this campaign has been in a league of its own. And Ive played quite a bit and it still doesnt show signs of ending soon, which I like unlike the MW's short campaigns.
I can't wait to get MOH tomorrow, I have it preordered for my PS3 instead of my 360, since you get Frontline with it.
(@ MoH Video) ahh Goodrich...that would explain the beard! Notice how he distinces himself/MoH from current events "...it's not about the war in Afganistan, it's about brotherhood." uh huh sure Greg. Cause we all wanna drop 60 bones for that sausage party. Not really feeling the fixed classes. Gonna see nothing but 2 dozen snipers roasting marshmallows in every game.
Q: "how does it feel you used to be the #1 FPS and now your getting your arses kicked by the CoD franchise??" A: "It sucks!" :(
Wow fanboy mania heating up this topic hardcore pfff... Besides all of that I would love to get borderlands goty and a few other games on that list sadly money isn't that plentiful as it was for me like last october a year ago but I'm glad another great week of game releases hits the shelves. = )
I played the beta, it's not a bad game at all, but BFBC2 is still better. I have high hopes for BF3. Hope it fix the few shortcomings BFBC2 have (like the lack or really large maps and more players. I really miss 64 vs 64 from Battlefield 2.
@Jinjuri You take MW over BC2? Haha you're into fairytales, dude. BC2 online mode is the best fps experience ever. Nothing can even touch it as far as balance and realism goes.
@xtremeflem2day your wrong, treyarch always had more to their games. They always used the same engine but they always added stuff. In COD3 you could select what character you play as in MP and drive vehicles in MP. In CODW@W they enhanced the COD4 engine by adding more realistic violence. Bullets inflict wounds on enemies and heavy gun and explosives rip off body parts. They also added the ability to sick dogs on people in multiplayer. In COD Black ops we get a far better game than MW2. This time you can customize your guns and your character in multiplayer. In CODBO MP You can earn money to buy new outfits, new designs you can customize however you want to put on your guns, you can etch words in your gun. Best of all, CODBO is continuing the explicit violence that made W@W feel grittier and more realistic than MW1 and 2.
Playing Xbox One games on somebody else's console will also require a check-in every hour. Full Story
