Shippin' Out August 20-24: BioShock, Brain Age 2
2K's creepy underwater FPS dives into retail alongside Nintendo's mind-expanding puzzle game; Space Giraffe XBLA-bound, Super Metroid headed for Wii VC.
Now that Madden NFL 08 has been loosed on the masses, the Great Game Flood of 2007 has officially begun. The second week's top title is unquestionably BioShock, from 2K Games and its 2K Boston studio, formerly known as Irrational Games. The PC and Xbox 360 first-person action-adventure is a pseudo-sequel to System Shock, one of GameSpot's Greatest Games of All Time.
Featuring the same style of horror-tinged, sandbox-style gameplay as System Shock 2, BioShock submerges players in the dystopian aftermath of the underwater city known as Rapture. Rated M for Mature, BioShock retails for $59.99 on the Xbox 360 and $49.99 on the PC, with a Limited Edition package for both platforms available for $10 more. The PC version of the game is also available for prepurchase and instant access upon availability through Valve's Steam service. Check GameSpot's BioShock Launch Center for more information, including the full review of the game.
While BioShock is sure to transfix many gamers, this week features a robust lineup of other games accompanying the shooter. Headlining the list from the "other" category is Nintendo's surefire hit Brain Age 2: More Training in Minutes a Day. Following up on last year's megahit Brain Age, Brain Age 2 offers players more interactive minigames designed to add wrinkles to folks' noodles. It is rated E for Everyone and retails for $19.99.
Microsoft will be updating Xbox Live with two more downloadable games this week. From industry veteran and respected indie developer Jeff Minter comes the "psychedelic" shooter Space Giraffe. The game features 100 levels of trippy stationary-screen shooter gameplay. While Microsoft's original announcement for the game pegs Space Giraffe at 800 Microsoft points ($10), Minter notes on his personal blog that the game will be available for 400 Microsoft points ($5). Also appearing on Xbox Live this week is the hoverboard racer Street Trace: NYC, which can be had for 800 Microsoft points ($10).
Nintendo's "Month of Metroid" rolls on today, as the 1994 Super Nintendo classic Super Metroid blasts onto the Wii's Virtual Console. Available for 800 Wii points ($8), players can reorient themselves with Samus Aran's battle suit in anticipation of next week's release of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Available from the Sega Genesis' collection this week is the 1993 action adventure Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master, for 800 Wii points ($8). From the TurboGrafx-16, Hudson's action role-playing game Neutopia rounds out this week's Virtual Console update, and it costs 600 Wii points ($6).

Two Worlds will be the best out of all of the new games this week
Im def gettin 2 worlds it looks sick! but i dont really like bioshock, for all those 360 players of bioshock i would play the demo first, prolly wont change ur mind cause i didnt like it earlier but the gameplay is just simply put, not very good. Really like the storyline tho.
bioshock and two worlds!!!!!!
Yay! Metroid Prime: Corruption is so close! :D
Bioshock rules!
I think BioShock is winner this week. :D
I might get Two Worlds. I'm waiting on reviews though.
Bioshock!!!!!!!!! and two worlds.

So what's next on the list of megabomb releases? I think it's Warhawk. 2007 = 1337. Too ****ing awesome.
Bioshock rules I just got it and i havent took my eyes of the t.v. for around 5 hours
Forget Madden, the "Great Game Flood" begins with Bioshock.
Alpha172 * Bioshock can go to hell, next time they make a game like that, I hope they know how to make the game enemies more scarrierthen ugly mutated humans and a pathetic 1950 storyline You just made yourself look petty and pathetic with that post Call the waaaaambulance.....we got a loony!
bioshock out tommorow or 46 mins if you wish
Super Metroid and Bioshock! What a great week for releases!
Bioshock is all I will need this week, oh yea finally getting Sonic The Hedgehog for Live Arcade...so this will be a good week to follow next week with stranglehold, stuntman: ignition an metriod prime 3...oh yea great time to be a gamer:-)
Bioshock can go to hell, next time they make a game like that, I hope they know how to make the game enemies more scarrierthen ugly mutated humans and a pathetic 1950 storyline
"Looks good for my 360, but my PS3 is starting to gather dust. Only so many times you can play RFOM." If you really own a PS3 go pick up Ninja Gaiden Sigma, and Motorstorm is also out, but I think Dirt is better than it. Lair is also coming out next week I think.
GRAW2 is now coming out for the PS3? Here I thought it was out the entire time for the PS3. Anyway Bioshock if I'm picking up one of these games it's definitely that one.
Bioshock will rule all, the demo rocked.
Super Metroid FTW
Nice week.
Space Giraffe? The title makes me want to own this game immediately. A collector's edition for Bioshock? Sounds interesting :D Two Worlds? Can't wait to read some reviews :)D:D)D:D)D:D)D:d
Finally two worlds, i've been waiting forever for this game!
No single review determines the quality of a game. Trust your instincts Fox!
every one else gives it an average of 9.8 and gamestop gives it a nine come on
gamesspot underrated bioshock but it is still going to be freaking awsome
A ton of d/l-ables I see, but like everyone else here - ok, almost everyone *gets a glare from nini200* ^_^; - BioShock has me most intrigued and excited.

bioshock, two worlds, and settlers ds!sweeeet!
Super Metroid = return to greatness. BioShock looks nifty as well.
Bioshock should be awesome.
Bioshock for the PC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BIOSHOCK!
seems good.
I'll settle with Bioshock this week!!!!!!
SUPER METROID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Man...too many good games in less than 2 weeks and we are still in August...My only concern is that lurking 'REd Ring of death' while playing any of these games on my xbox 360...Its a good thing that I have the insurance from Ebgames so I can just return the system and get a new one if this thing happens...
I'd buy Space Giraffe for 400 points. I'm not touching it if it's actually 800 - that moves it beyond the realm of "Hey, that's neat," and closer to the bargain bin, where you can get full games like Tomb Raider Legend, PGR3, Kameo, PD0 and more all for ten bucks.
