Tbh the more i see about SMT IV the more it feels underwhelming, imo it's not worthy to be Nocturne' successor.
Definitely not impressed (not saying it will be a bad game of course, just that i hoped in something better).
Shin Megami Tensei IV hits first place on Japan sales chart

3DS RPG from Persona 4 developer Atlus sells 188,562 copies, followed by new Kamen Rider game and Resident Evil: Revelations port.
Atlus' latest game in the Megami Tensei series, Shin Megami Tensei IV, was received well in Japan when it was released on May 23.
The game was at number one on the recent Media Create Sales chart update for the week of May 20, with 188,562 units sold. The RPG beat out new releases in the top 10, such as PS3 action game Kamen Rider: Battride War (128,659 units sold) and the PS3 version of Resident Evil: Revelations (102,673 units sold).
Shin Megami Tensei IV will be out in North American markets on July 16. Check out the Media Create top ten list of games for the week of May 20 below.

I am new to the series and I gotta say that I am enjoying the games that Atlus puts out or have already released.
More 3DS goodness. Wasn't this system DOOMED a year ago. lol!! Never listen to people who think a system is DOOMED before it launches.
anything with title "Shin Megami Tensei" or "Dragon Quest" on it will just sale in Japan. But recent DQ launch didn't went well in Japan, I am glad that is not true for SMT series.
Best new Gamespot has posted in a while, even though I heard it somewhere else first, but still it's spreading the SMT name! By the way anyone know if Gamespot still plays and/or reviews imports like they used to?
Can't wait to pick up the SMT4 special edition that I preordered when the game finally comes out on the 16th.
I like that we can see what sells in the UK and Japan at Gamespot. It's always interesting to see what makes the charts in other countries, or as is sometimes/often the case, to point out how wrong they are for buying this or that game. Unsurprisingly, a lot of Japanese games are in this top-10, some of which I've never/rarely heard of. I can't stand that type of graphical style which are in most of those games, but I'm Swedish, not Japanese.
@Hurvl every gamer fanbase has it's own culture and tastes, I for one try everything :) but lately i am starting to hate every TPS
@GSJones1994 @Prime_28 Why would they remake FFVII for a handheld? The entire point of remaking FFVII would be to print money and frankly, even though the 3DS is in a formidable position, it's not in enough hands to justify such a remake.
@Prime_28 Would rather have it that the 3DS was losing ground, so that you could mock it for being unpopular? The 3DS is miles away from the success of the DS, so I'm not seeing it as unstoppable. I prefer PC in every situation, but I still welcome Nintendo's success.

@DiamondDM13 Looks at list seeing RE game that sold 90,000 less than PS3 version...are we looking at the same thing??? Or is 8400 units sold, great sales?
1 Like I am totally getting this, but I just got Monster Hunter and am still playing Fire Emblem. That mixed with all the games I want to play for my PS3 and there's no way I can keep up. There needs to be more hours in a day or I just retire immediately.
3 Like Those aren't that impressive...P4G sold almost that much when the vita was only at 1 million sold, not 10 million...like the 3DS.
@Oldboy08P4G sold 137k frist week 51k less, only shin megami game to sell better at retail is the PS2 version of Persona 4 at 193k.
So with digital sales SMTIV has probably had the best opening week for the series.

@Bellum_Sacrum I actually got mine when Fire Emblem showed up... but yeah, this game is icing on the cake at this point.
Good to see Atlus doing well. Plan to pick up SMT4 as soon as it releases. Does preordering get you all of the extra stuff shown or is that in a "special limited time" edition promo?

5 Like @Tri-Enforcer As usual? Yeah, in the handheld portion but they are getting beat to death with the Wii U. In that time frame of these sales, the PS3 sold better and not just that, not just the Vita but the PSP sold better than the Wii U. The PSP!
Not just that though, Nintendo hasn't been dominated software sales "as usual."
