this game as peeked my interest, with it's 16 player co-op which is awesome and I only have 2 question's and the first one is when's the release date and the second is I hope their isn't a lot of achievements that envolves co-op and that going to suck.
Devolver continues work on Croteam's first-person shooter series with prequel to original game featuring 16-player co-op campaign mode.
After a pair of high-definition overhauls, Devolver Digital is finally ready to lock and load a new Serious Sam. The Austin, Texas-based developer joined with original Serious Sam developer Croteam today to announce a summer release for Serious Sam 3: BFE.
A prequel to the original Serious Sam: The First Encounter, BFE will take place in 22nd-century Egypt amid a collapsing civilization beset by unearthly beasts. When asked what the "BFE" subtitle stood for, a Devolver representative merely said, "For now, it's just BFE."
The game will see the return of the series' signature adversaries like the Headless Kamikaze and Gnaar, as well as new opponents going by names like Scrapjack and Khnum. The gameplay will also see a number of additions, with Sam in particular getting an assortment of new melee moves. Additionally, up to 16 players at a time will be able to play through the game's cooperative campaign mode.
Serious Sam: BFE is scheduled for release on consoles and the PC this summer. For more on Devolver's previous experience with the series, check out GameSpot's review of Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter.
If Croteam puts the same amount of effort into this one as they did with the Encounters, it's going to be one sick game! :D
Sam "Serious" Stone was holding it down for pure action shooters with macho protagonists while Duke Nukem was AWOL. It will be interesting to see if they can not only both make comebacks this year but if they can co-exist in the marketplace.
@Raxyman Yeah I'm not a major fan of the COD franchise.. I won't back that up because the franchise has gone beyond repetitive - it's as stale as ever. I'm just saying not to get your hopes up too much for this game. It may be good for nostalga reasons but aside from that I doubt it'l be solid gameplay.. I'd love for it to prove me wrong though.
Turismo- I'm sure ment that they would all eat Killzone 3's Helghast dust, but they'll be a good diversion after that..;..
Looks like Serious Sam and Duke Nukem are going to be the shooters this year with the exception of Gears Of War 3 of course. Can't wait.
Heh, the "BFE" probably doesn't stand for "Before First Encounter". More than likely it has a more alternative meaning such as, "Bum F**k Egypt". But then again, what do I know? :P
Where's the page for this game I want to follow it,are you guys(and girls)being lazy again or what!?!?!?
Serious Sam: An FPS that doesn't pretend to be anything other than OMG SHOOT SHOOT KILL AMMO FIRE BOOM SHOOT ARGH! The original graphics engine of the first Serious Sam - and the Egyptian theme and architecture - were impressive for their time. More please!
Serious Sam prequel? So BFE must mean 'Before First Encounter'. I have been wondering what it stands for, for a long time
ye ye so f-ing what>?who cares its just serious sam its like painkiller for example pain killer redemption the game just got released and i knew this after 2days WTF no trailer no nothing so if this serious sam gets released even tomorow i wouldnt b so wowd by it really
I have a hard time believing this will actually come out in the Summer considering I've just heard of this game last week on Gameinfomer you would think if we were that close to the release of the game there would be more information on it.
I hope they seriously work their whole-new graphic engine just like the first and second series, back in 2002 they become contender of GOTY because of superb quality  the 2009 HD Remake didn't live up the hype :?
epic a new serious sam game im seriously getting this when it comes out and bfe i bet it stands for best freaking enemies
@warhawk-geeby CoD IS A retro game, when was the last innovation you've seen since the first game? Oh yeah, if you run and prone the guy'll jump. At least serious sam isn't charging 60 bucks for the same thing. This game might not be a hit, but'll be good.
I vote this game is going to suck. Sorry, just putting it out there. The visuals are edited up to their eyeballs. Retro games don't always make cool games. Plus with all the FPS titles coming out it needs to be something special to stand out from the crowd.. which I'm not sensing.. yet.
Just wondering, who do you guys think is better? Serious Sam or Duke Nukem? or do you just lke them both?
Sweet. Or should I say, "Serious!" 2011 has tons of good games coming. Hmmm... BFE? "Before the First Encounter"? That would be a hilarious title.
AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHGGHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...................................................... BOOOOOOOM!!!!.................................................. that was my impression of the headless kamikaze.. its time to get serious!!
Now that's a serious announcement!! the 2 remakes where good but... I really didn't like the new model for Sam, I really want the original Sam Stone!!
