Sega puts out a pair for portables

Roll the bones on the DS with Sega Casino or take a spin with a Sonic compilation on Game Boy Advance, now at retail.

Sega's offering portable players something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue today with the release of Sega Casino for the Nintendo DS and the Sonic Advance & Sonic Pinball Party Combo Pack for the Game Boy Advance.

"Something new" is covered by Sega Casino, a collection of 11 gambling standbys including Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, Baccarat, Texas Hold 'em, 7 Card Stud, Keno, Video Poker, and more. In solo play, gamers can play the free mode to unlock more games, or go through the longer-term casino mode, where they will try to turn $1,000 into a fortune and earn access to high-roller rooms. Sega Casino also supports wireless games for up to four players.

As for "old," "borrowed," and "blue," the Sonic Combo Pack conveniently wraps up those descriptors, borrowing two old games featuring the blue blur and compiling them into one package. Included in the pack are the original side-scrolling 2D Sonic debut on GBA, Sonic Advance, and the Sonic Pinball Party collection of three tables based on Sega properties like the titular hedgehog, Nights into Dreams, and Samba de Amigo.

Sega Casino is rated T for Teen, while the Sonic Advance & Sonic Pinball Party Combo Pack carries an E for Everybody. Both games retail for $29.95.

The only casino game I ever played that was any good was Vegas Stakes for the SNES, but that was an excellent game. Funny how the guys who made that went on to create Paper Mario 2...
