System set to celebrate first anniversary in March with SCEA releases of Pursuit Force, Syphon Filter, Ape Escape Academy, and Daxter.
Sony Computer Entertainment of America has taken the wraps off its first quarter PSP release plans, and it appears quite back heavy, with four of the lineup's six titles set for release in March.
Pursuit Force, Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, MLB 06 The Show, and Daxter are all set to arrive in March (with MLB receiving a more specific March 1 date), with next week's release of Ape Escape Academy having to tide anxious owners for a six-week calm before the February 28 release of Neopets Petpet Adventures: The Wand of Wishing leads into the March release storm.
"Our first quarter lineup is yet another example of our continuous pledge to consumers to deliver viable and innovative new entertainment choices for the PSP system," said SCEA executive VP and co-COO Jack Tretton. "With the PSP system's first holiday season demonstrating incredible sales and market penetration, we will continue to drive the unprecedented demand for the PSP system with compelling content for gamers of all ages."
Neopets and MLB 06 are rated E for Everyone, Pursuit Force is rated T for Teen, and Syphon Filter and Daxter have yet to be rated. Stay tuned to GameSpot for more on these titles as their releases near.
6 games to be released in Q1 by Sony... I wonder how many movies they'll release on UMD at the same time -_-. I love my little PSP, but Sony really dropped the ball with it. Most games are lacklustre PS2 or PSX ports with only a handful of exceptions, and the catalogue of games is dwarfed by the catalogue of crappy, over priced UMD movies that we already have on DVD. *sigh*
Can't say I liked syphon filter when it came out. I thought it was really boring. Anyway, It's good to see sony forced to make an effort, even if its effort is in making other companies do all the work... Just wish Sony's first party games where............fun.
There hasn't been a grate game in this series since Syphon Filter 2. I hope that Dark Mirror will be a return to form.
Pursuit Force has already been reviewed by several European places, and has gotten VERY lackluster scores (6-7). Daxter may be the PSP's only saving grace until Every Extend Extra.
iwill stick with my ds atleast my ds games are not ported maybe afew but atleast its the best any way i hopesony bring somthing original somthing that nintendo couldnt do lol ithink not muahahah :)
First of all, 4 games released in 1 month is a good amount from a single publisher. There are alot of game publishers, so these other publishers will be releasing games too. This article is only talking about Sony Computer Entertainment America games being released. Second, to the person that asked why they included NeoPets on that list like its a big deal or something, they aren't implying that its a big deal.... they are simply stating the games they will be releasing no matter how big or small the expectations around them. Also, NeoPets is a good idea in my opinion because Nintendo is doing so well with Nintendogs. Sony really needs something to compete even if it will never be better or even equal to Nintendogs. Sure, you may have to press a button to rub your pet, throw a ball, or wash your pet rather than touching the screen, but atleast they are trying to have something similar. I personally don't want a virtual pet game, but I think Sony is smart for releasing one so that maybe they can gain a few of the younger and female gamers. As for none of these games being good, thats a matter of opinion. It's the quality I'm thinking of right now, and I think most of these will be good quality titles. For example, I don't like sports games.... at all. Does that mean they "suck"? No, a sports game can be of good quality and I still wouldn't buy it, just because thats not what type of games I am interested in. Anyways, from the list of games here, I think Pursuit Force and Daxter looks like fun games to me, and if Syphon Filter is done right, it can be another great game for me (a big IF though...). As for the other three, not my cup of tea. Other titles I am most looking forward to is the Shin Megami Tensei rpg (I'm a fan of other SMT games), Practical Intelligence Quotient (huge fan of their Intelligence Qube game), Me and My Katamari (loved the crazy weirdness of Katamari Damacy), Every Extend Extra (a more advanced and developed version of the very addictive mini PC game Every Extend), and the Valkyrie Profile port (I know most of you guys hate the ports, and so do I, but seriously.... $120 for the original on eBay is a bit... much). I'm sure I'm leaving off quite a few games I'm looking forward to, but thats the ones off the top of my head.
there are about 20-25 games that are scheduled to release in march , wow , thats alot of games , this will be a great time to be a psp owner . If you dont have one yet , wait for the possible news of the first price drop and get one
owned by the DS....kinda like the rev will be owned by the 3? i jast wanna get boku no watashi no katamari and SMT and i'll be good.
PSP's at a year? wow.... and after a year they havent done much.... wtf is up with those commercials? its like cheese but portable??! wtf is that about? no one wants cheese on the go! and people are wondering why the PSP is being outsold by the DS? it doesnt take a genius to find out...... they better do something this year.... or this year will again be owned by the DS....
Why are they even mentioning NeoPets in this article? Okay, let's pretend for a second that NeoPets has an audience outside of 9 year old girls. The only other NeoPets game got a pretty average review. Why announce it like it's a big deal? That doesn't bode well for the other games on the list. Oh yeah and Breath of Fire III is the game coming up for the PSP, and was by far the worst in the series.
Once again, SCEA ISNT'T THE ONLY DEVELOPER!!!! sheesh. Anyhoo, this is a great line-up that would please all ages. Keep it up Sony!
syphon filter...BORING,ape escape...BORING,pursuit force...its ok,daxter...BRING IT ON!!!I SWEAR PSP GAMES ARE NOT GOIN WELL!!!the only good games yet are lumines, burnout, wipeout, gta, socom and look at the xbox360 nearly all its launch titles are good.COMEON SONY WE CANT LOOSE ANGINST MICROSOFT!!!
I still don't see any "killer" titles for this platform ... Is the PSP doomed to mediocre titles already ?
Good titles, six games in 3 months is very impressive. I'll be getting Pursuit Force and Syphon Filter.
Sigh. If it wasn't for the balance issues I would've imported Pursuit Force already. Another driving game would really hit the spot. Perhaps I'll be finished with Castlevania: DS by March... these games will only cost TWICE as much. But.. so.. pretty...
true but if i am going to be playing it at home anyway (i hardly ever play my ds outside the home), then i want the games to be good enough to stand up to what i have available on ps2. The ds games i love are games i could never find on ps2 becuase they are 2d or just too nintendo to be on a sony console and they make it worth the purchace. 90% of the time im not anywhere long enough where i have free time outside the house.
yea, but handhelds arent for serious games as much as consoles. When i think of hand helds, i think of more like, puzzle games and short rpg/adventure games without super-long scenes and dungeons. Imean, its a hand held. If youre gonna play a 40hr game, do it on a console with a nice screen and controller. I really like Shin Megami Tensei series though, i bet it will be a sweet game. too bad more people havent played them. >_>
well breath of fire and suikoden are just ports and FF game i believe is one of those FFVII spinoffs. I dont recall any tales or smt announcements for psp but still i doubt the FF for psp will be of the same quality as FFXII, DQVIII, or KH2 to be enough to make me buy it.
from gamespot--"After a slow start, the lineup of role-playing games on Sony's PlayStation Portable looks to be nicely filled out in the coming year. New installments in the Final Fantasy, Breath of Fire, Namco's Tales, Suikoden, and Shin Megami Tensei series have all been announced." Sounds good enough for me ^^
please sony..do the right thing with syphon filter!!!!!!!!!!.. syphon filter 1 was the best action stealth game to come out along with mgs.... the first syphon blew me away..fast paced.,.action, stealth, creating your own stealth( shooting lights )..yes... syphon filter did it before splinter cell!!.. .. i remember dangling from the wire while 2 factions fought on the ground below...that's classic...and terrorists jumping the walls in the first level..again!!...classic!!!!..
There will be tons more game in March for PSP including Splinter cell and Field Commander, not sure what else but it looks great to me, all you little brats crying like babies complaining about this and that, just be glad you got a PSP and for 1 year and atleast 70 titles out for PSP already i think thats pretty good. A price drop in march or before that would really help PSP out.
sounds like they got all ages and both sexes covered with these games , cool , march sounds like a good time for a price drop also
PSP has been out a year already? Wow, that's very hard to believe, given the amount of games it has. And this set of games doesn't do much to help the situation. The PlayStation brand was supposed to be about games, not movies...
In my opinion, none of these six games from SCEA interest me.... I love my psp *hugs PSP* - but I'm getting tired of waiting for a killer app.
sorry to say this but i own a psp and a ds and the ds has more games than the psp....the only game that i own for psp is twisted metal which i sold aready....i feel riped off by buy such a worthless device...sorry sony is the truth
what's a psp? lol. sony should have waited to release the psp, i mean the cell install into the psp would have been a lot better for games and such.
Pursuit Force and Daxter look good. S:F also looks good but I only liked one game in the series so I doubt it will acutally be good. And this is only the Sony games..
Man, Gamespot was showing off Ape Escape Academy around the time the PSP launched in JAPAN. It took them this long to ship it to the west?
Is this 6 total PSP games for a whole quarter? Or six PSP games directly from Sony Computer Entertainment?
